Windows 7 - KB982158 security update: do not install.

While it's the trigger, my frustration comes not be able to exclude a specific update total. The specific update that applies continues to default to a request I don't use, so if I could 'opt-out', I could save me a lot of time and stress

What error code you get?

646? If so, try this fixit:

    1. #9 step alone can not have solved the behaviour & we wanted to be certain that no "leftovers" Norton formed the scr3wing things.

    2. I wanted to do some (possible) that your computer is not infected.

  • Four Office 2003 security updates will not install

I have four absolutely the Office 2003 security update will not be installed. I tried all the solutions I could find so far short of uninstalling and reinstalling Office. I am Windows 7 64-bit and many of the solutions I found reference XP or Vista, although I don't know how much difference that makes at this point. The updates are KB2289163, KB2284695, KB244978 and KB2466074. Other updates have succeeded since they refused to install after the download, but these four still just won't do.

What are the error codes that are specific to these four Office updates?
Have you tried the advice of the PA bear?

You could start a free Windows Update support, but it would be more efficient to just reinstall Office 2003 time.

I am running Vista Home Premium SP 2. An automatic security update failed to install 12 times so far; «security update for the Windows Vista & Windows Server 2008 (KB979906).» The error code displayed is 643. I have no idea how to get this problem is resolved. I would appreciate any clarification that I am able to understand my senior citizen basic-intermediate of computer know how. Thank you.

Try to download and install it manually by downloading on your desktop and install it. Insert the number to get the good update and choose the one corresponding to your version of Vista: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/default.aspx

    .

If this does not work, try a boot minimum http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135.  If the problem goes away then it's just a matter of tracking down the culprit at the origin of the problem.   Follow the procedures described in the article.  Once found, remove, delete, disable or uninstall.  Once remember to put Vista in normal status, as described in the procedures. If the problem occurs in clean mode then just restore the system to normal and reboot - this solution will not work.

  • KB2686509 security update will not install 0xf0f4 error code

After downloading Microsoft security update for Windows XP (KB2686509) update will not install - what should I do?

I struggled with this for days. Here's what was going on and what I did that worked.

faultykeyboard.log listed 24 entries of the form kb*.kbd

I searched and no such files exist on my computer.

By running regedit and looking, I found 24 subkeys appearance abnormal corresponding to the list in:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Keyboard Layouts

After carefully reviewing the risk of damage, I discovered that the operating system automatically restore this section of the registry in the event of a boot failure.

I deleted then boldly all subkeys of the *.kbd type in the registry. I deleted faultykeyboard.log. I rebooted then ran the KB2686509 update and installed and restarted the computer.

    The problem disappeared.  Everything works.
