Windows 7 on a T760 Pavillion

I intend to improve my Office Pavillion T760 of XP to Windows 7.

This means do a clean install. I have no problem with that but want to prepare properly before you start.

Microsoft and HP Windows 7 upgrade Instructions indicate that I need to download drivers for WIndows 7 etc for this machine before you start.

When I look up the available drivers etc for this model, the only listed operating system is XP.

Can you tell me if the drivers are available (or necessary) for Windows 7?

Thank you!

Dear Gregstakat unfortunately, this PC does not support Windows 7 even if you install it, thr are no video driver available for the 8XX chipsets. Thr is a way to install Video driver for intel 8XX chipset graphics, once again and then PC runs terribly slow. Install Windows 7 only if you have dedicated with Pixel shader 2.0 or new, AGP graphics card then clean installation, most of the drivers will install automatically & then you can install the rest of the remaining drivers. Best regards, EverWin

    Hello

Try disabling the startup of Windows 10 hybrid - you can do the following.

Open settings and select System.  Select food and sleep, and then click additional power settings - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '.  Click on the button Save the settings, and then close windows open and stop the laptop by right clicking on the icon in Start Menu, select (Admin) command prompt and click 'Yes' to the uac prompt.

Type (or copy and paste) the following command (including spaces) and click Enter.

    Shutdown /s /t 0

Start the laptop and let Windows take over completely for a few minutes before checking if it is now shut down properly in the Start Menu.

If this has fixed the problem, it may be useful by turning the quick start back on - sometimes simply remove and re-create the file will solve the problem.

  • DeskJet 6988

My problem is how do I get my printer HP Deskjet 6988dt printer to print "double-sided automatically? I installed Windows 7 Pro to the top of Windows XP PRo on my Pavillion a1620y office. I connected directly to my Wifi SMC router and the software of the system 7 installed the printer, but it will only print "2 Facer" manually.  There is no updated driver from HP printer. Anyone know if there is a work around for this situation? The original installation discs will not work under Windows 7.

I would have stayed with XP, but everyone now knows the drill, it's old so I guess you're supposed to just junk and by brand new? It's not very 'green' companies. I bought a new HP Lap Top a little more than a year with Windows 7 and it seems to work very well most of the time but it has some issues as well.

    Thank you

    Hello skinner67,

Welcome to the Forums of HP Support!

I understand that you have recently upgraded to Windows 7 XP, now the Deskjet 6988dt won't automatically duplex manual is available.

If you open devices and printers > Deskjet 6988dt right-click, and then click printer properties. This window should open:

Once installed together to try to print, make sure you click Preferences or properties and you should get this:

I hope this allows you to you to be able to automatically duplex again.

  • Cannot scan PDF

After a glimpse of Windows 8 crashed my HP Pavillion a6857c and I had to go back to vista 64-bit my printer Hp OfficeJet J4580 and solutioncenter 10 started in error messages which scan doctor would fix, now I get this error 8 [(6,1018,-2147220486)] if I try to scan anything not Tiff and doctor scan cannot be resolved I've updated the solution Center 13 always the same. I tried at least 3 weeks to fix this

Looks like you are having some problems with scanning. To begin with, allows to execute a quick uninstall and reinstalling the software. I made this process easy with a simple statement that I put below:

First of all, if you use a USB cable, be sure to remove it (it's important). Do not plug it in again until the software instructs you. Through devices and printers, programs and features and issues Device Manager and make sure that all copies, files, and programs related to the printer are removed. As indicated, and then restart the computer.
  • CD-ROM/DVD-Rom missing or disappeared

    Hello Microsoft community.

I wanted to know if anyone has a solution to make my DVD/CD drive back drive work on my computer?

I am running Windows Vista on a HP Pavillion laptop on a little more than a year)

A couple of days, I noticed my CD-ROM/dvd-rom was missing from 'My Computer', which was listed as E drive and missing from my list of Device Manager.

In my registry upper/lower filter is NOT listed

However, DVD/CD Rom Drives IS listed as a default value in the registry TYPE: REG_SZ

and CD ROM IS listed as (class) in my registy-TYPE: REG_SZ.

-J' tried the restore and - last good known already

    but it did not help.

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer to solve my problem

    kb2009

    Hello

Step 1: Please do all the same underneath if you did some before as is often total
a process that solves the problem.

Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click on the device - driver tab.
Click on update drivers (this will probably do nothing) - RIGHT click ON the drive - uninstall.
RESTART this will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue
    below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a coward
cable or slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then make sure that the cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just tight. For laptops, you can often clean power and
contacts data with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD players do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the manufacturer of system and
manufacturer of device to see if there is a firmware or drivers for your drive if necessary.

    ===============================

Step 2: You have disc problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD
Burn and CD and DVD read). So it is not unusual for 1 or 2 operational so that other parts
    do it right.

Did you follow the Troubleshooting Guide for the reader who still does not work? There are
the entries in registry that the troubleshooter does not solve and those who "might" be the cause.

Check with your Maker system and a device for the two possible firmware updates and
the correct registry entries for your car.

Here are the keys that I of course are those in question - for the subkeys of the CD/DVD drive
as there will be other subkeys in these keys. Do not forget to ask specific keys involved as well as
    the parameters.

The chipset drivers must be installed first, followed by the video... then it doesn't really matter a lot.  If you can't find all of your drivers, use Windows Update and search under the optional updates.
