Something to try:

I don't know if it helps... but you can launch the Scanner
and the Assistant to the camera as follows:

The executable for the scanner and Camera Wizard is:
wiaacmgr.exe

Connect your device to your PC via the USB port / switch...

Open the box run into your Windows Logo key and pressing r...

Type or paste the following text in the box run and press on...
Enter... must start the wizard:

C:\Windows\System32\wiaacmgr.exe

(Should work on Windows 7 / 8)

If Autorun does not start, the following steps may
be worth a try:

Connect the camera to the computer via a USB cable and
Turn on the camera.

Reach... Start / computer / removable devices
Storage...

Look at the drive letters and see if one of them
represents the camera. He can say removable disk

If the camera is recognized... right click on the drive letter
and from the menu choose... Open or explore.

The directory of the memory card in the camera must
poster and if you browse through the various
files, you must find the photo files.

Once found... you can copy/paste the pictures in a folder
on your hard drive.

Simple and the best solution IMHO is to use an internal
or external USB memory card reader.

It will not drain your camera batteries and can be faster.
FWIW... download from the camera when batteries
can be low after a long photo shoot could result
corrupted photos.

You have a USB media drive internal or external?

Insert the memory card into the correct location on the media player...
If open windows... Close them.

When the card is inserted... If you go to... Start / computer... is
player card on one or several removable disks?
(You could say, "devices with... of removable storage")

Removable (e :)) drive
Removable disk (e :))
Removable drive (g)

If_Yes_you can download photos from there. Left click
the drive letter that corresponds to the memory card must
display the directory of the card and you can copy and paste or
Drag and drop the photos of your choice in a folder on your hard drive
drive.

Just a select group of photos do a right-click and choose... Copy...
then navigate to the folder that you want, and then right-click the
folder and choose Paste.

I imported my photos with the wizard, but I chose to keep the subfolders option... Well after seeing how it was organized in too many cases, I've changed my mind. I then deleted images from the PC and ATTEMPT to redo the import.

Now every time I have insert the SD card, I get a popup saying that no new pictures have been found. Normally fine, but I need them to be imported again. I know I can just manually copy, but I want that they arranged according to date taken and which would take a lot of work manually.

  • Photo Import Wizard

The new import pictures Wizard & Video with Windows 7 is much less functional than the one that comes with Windows XP. For example, I now have to import all the images on a disk, rather than choose the ones I want. I also have to create a folder, they are based on the tag, date, etc. There is no other choice if I don't want to create a new folder. I do something wrong or can I go back to the XP version of this import wizard?  Thank you very much!

    ·         You use the Windows Live Photo Gallery to import pictures on your computer?

  • Photo Import numbering is incorrect every time

I had to get a new computer.  My old computer used to import from my camera and to maintain the numbering sequence.  So, if I import numbers he would label as IMG_2351, IMG_2352, etc..  The next import event would call back and pick up where the old numbering left.  Thus, the following import would be IMG_2353 and so on.  Now, when I import pictures, it starts each event 001 import.  So, I have several numbered photos 001.   I want to tell him to keep the numbering sequence, as did my old computer.  Is this possible?

What is the brand and model of your camera?  Most of the cameras I know make the internal numbering file (i.e. before the files are imported).

Photo import software can usually be configured to save files in folders named with the date, that the photos were taken.  Exactly how you import pictures from your camera?  You use the software from the manufacturer of your camera (for example, Canon Zoombrowser EX) or you are using the Windows 7 built-in Assistant (assuming you have Windows 7)?

If you use the Windows 7 photo Import Wizard, make sure that 'File name' in "Import settings" is set to "Original file name.  See http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/change-settings-for-importing-pictures-and-videos

If I were you, I would also change the folder 'Take Date' rather than 'Date' imported

  • "Import pictures and videos using Windows Live Photo Gallery" option is missing from AutoPlay in Windows 7 64 bit

I saw this question and answer:

    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7files/thread/5c567ab1-208D-400D-9bce-0598d43a0574

but I think I have a more serious problem. In Windows 7 RC, when I plugged in my camera or insert a memory card, I could choose "import pictures and videos using Windows Live Photo Gallery", but in my new installation of Windows 7 RTM, on which I have installed Windows Live Photo Gallery, there is no "Import pictures and videos using Windows Live Photo Gallery" option allotted me in the list of Control Panel AutoPlay or on the AutoPlay pop-up that appears when I plug in a camera.

How can I get that back? Without this option, I have to go through the manual steps tedious to execute WLPG and manually choose to import from there and say what is my camera. It was much better under Vista and Win7RC when I had the simple auto play option.

My PC is running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit, but I also installed WLPG on two new computers Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit my parents, and they have exactly the same problem. Is this a known bug? Is there a solution?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

  • How to stop Windows 7 opening 'imported photos and videos' after each scan an image?

I'm scanning multiple images and after EACH scan, Win7 opens a new window "Imported pictures and videos", despite the window being open 20 times already...

In the import dialog box, deselection 'Open Windows Explorer after import' has no effect.  After each import, a Windows Explorer window appears showing me that the directory of the file has been imported to (i.e. "imported photos and videos").  Worse still, this happens even if another this window is already open - so if (for example), I scan 10 pictures, I have 10 windows explore open all showing this same directory (unless I close them I will).

It's boring, clutters the taskbar and takes expire have to close each window - how are we going to stop Win 7 "Imported photos and videos" opening after each scan?

    Hello Carl,

You attempted to change the option to "Open the Windows Explorer after import" while connected as another user on the computer to see if the problem persists?
Also, have you tried to scan using a different computer to see if we can isolate the problem to a machine?
