Windows 7 Professional to XP Home downgrade rights?

Our product works well with Windows XP Home edition. I want to use Windows 7 Professional with the right to downgrade to Windows XP, but I've heard that these Windows 7 Professional has the right to downgrade to Windows XP pro only. Why is this? Why I can't downgrade Windows 7 Professional to Windows XP Home Edition?

To Windows XP Professional downgrade rights apply only to the preinstalled OEM versions of Windows 7 Professional installed on a new computer.  There is no option to downgrade to Windows XP Home Premium edition.

Please see the bulletin: Understanding Downgrade Rights

  • Upgrade remaining Windows 7 64 bit to Windows 7 Professional 64 bit home

    Hello

Is it still possible to upgrade remaining Windows 7 Home 64 bit to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit? We are not yet ready to take on Windows 8 that there software we use, and which do not yet support Windows 8. However, I buy a laptop with Windows 7 Home overcharged 64-bit but it will not joint one area in my office. So you look for a upgade to Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. The manufacturer of the laptop stopped giving laptops with Windows 7 Professional.

Any help will be much appreciated.

    Thank you

Product keys are not specific architecture (32-bit or 64-bit), it will work with 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 Professional.

  • 'Always available offline' missing - windows 7 Professional - sync enabled

Hello, I have a network drive and am running windows 7 Professional.

When I right click on the file I want to make available offline, the option does not exist.
I also activated the Sync Center. (see image)
    Thoughts?

I know that it is a very old message, but I had the same problem, all active and configured, but no context menu entry appears and I have found no answer on the internet to fix. Finally I have found a solution myself:

First of all, I would like to thank Microsoft for the total absence of advanced documentation (public AND internal, knowing that the technical support engineers may not know what the problem is) on this issue.

-No doubt - there are perhaps other special cases and the potential causes of non-showing the 'always available offline' menu. But here's my case, which was not described until I read a few pages of answers:

I use Windows 7 and some NAS devices as file servers for our small business. We do not have any field, we work as members of the working group. We have therefore every login + password on each workstation and also separate login + password on a NAS device.

As many users, I checked the "remember my credentials" in the login box at the connection to the NAS, for convenience.

BUT THIS IS PREVENTING 'always available offline' TO BE DISPLAYED in THE CONTEXT MENU.

Simply, I went to control panel / user accounts and parental controls / user accounts / manage your credentials (left pane), then selected and deleted the credentials for my NAS server.

From then on, I have the 'always available offline' menu that appears in Solution Explorer :) But I have to type identify with my password once per session to connect to the NAS :(

    Even this link

    https://TechNet.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc978347.aspx

    does not mention that

I wish someone at Microsoft could make an exhaustive list of possible causes preventing the menu appears, it would be such a relief!

  • License OEM Windows 7 Professional 32-bit come with downgrade rights to XP Professional?

If I buy a copy of (System Integrator) OEM Windows 7 Professional 32 - bit, does include downgrade rights to Windows XP Pro?

I build essentially the individual PCs for personal use and small businesses; However, I have a client who seeks PCs 35 at point of sale that will have access to a central server.  Although I recommended the use of XP mode in Windows 7, my customer has been informed by its supplier of software that XP Pro is the best option for the current version of the software.

Although I could purchase copies of XP Pro OEM, my concern is that - during the life cycle of these PCs - my client will have to migrate to Windows 7, as new versions of its software point of sale are available.  If possible, I would like the opportunity to buy Windows 7 Professional OEM licenses, installation of XP Pro with downgrade rights and later have the ability to change to Windows 7 without having to purchase new licenses.  Is it an option if I buy Windows 7 Professional OEM licenses?

Also, I need 35 licenses for a single customer, volume licenses would be more cost-effective?  My current Windows 7 Pro OEM or Windows XP Pro OEM price is about $ 150 per license.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Yes, a version of Windows 7 Professional OEM rights to downgrade to Windows XP Professional.  Volume license is not a scheme of licensing "for resale.

  • Windows Vista Edition upgrade Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional

Hi!, I need help.  I tried to understand the upgrade from Windows Vista to Windows 7 but I have not been able to fully understand the various issues.  My dilemma is this. I have a House runing PC with Windows Vista Home Premium and I want to install a version of Windows 7 Professional.  The package I have indicates whether an upgrade, but when playing in the homepage of Microsofts, in my view, that I understand that to switch from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7 Professional, I need to do a full install, not an upgrade.  Because my package bed upgrade, I don't know if it contains the program needed to make an installation full or not.  I don't want to start and install and find out in the middle that I don't have the good disk to complete the task.  Could someone who knows about it could give me the right path to follow. I will be very greatfull for any guidance. Thank you.

See this simplified table of upgrade: http://i.zdnet.com/blogs/windows-upgrade-chart-eb-remake-final3.png?tag=col1;post-1246

Vista Home Premium upgrade to Win7 professional will require one in Place (i.e., update Win7 Home Premium) and an Express Upgrade (from Win7 Home Premium to Win7 professional).

That said, Windows Update has nothing to do with the upgrade of Windows. • HP 250 G5 laptop: Re-upgrade a Windows 7 Professional 64 laptop downgraded to Windows Pro 64 10

I have a laptop HP 250 G5 with Windows 7 64 Professional installed and activated by the manufacturer (as it is possible through 10 Pro 64 Windows downgrade rights).

Key export is available, however, are placed only in the firmware, I guess, for the derivation of Windows 10.

So, the question is if it is theoretically possible to re - install Windows 10 64 Pro, with only the original rights and the key to virtual product and in which of these ways:

    Clean install of the operating system, pre-installed programs loss;

    Upgrade of the operating system;

System to dual-boot, in the case.

    Thanks in advance!

I have been informed by marshals on this forum that Downgrade on a PC Win10 rights are to be exercised at the factory--until the PC is delivered - and is not something that a consumer may exercise after receiving the product.

But I'm not an expert in this area, and you should probably check with customer service HP at this topic (the details are below).

Win10 license information has been incorporated into the PC's UEFI firmware when it was built - if it's still there.  But, I was told that it works with the Win10 HP OEM version - which you can NOT download from Microsoft.

So, if you wanted to go back to Win10, you need to get a HP recovery media to do so.

What is NOT legal is using the same license for two different versions of the operating system - which is what happens when people move from Win7/8 to Win10 on a PC while retaining the older OS work.

You said you had right to demotion, then of course, this is the same limitation that you cannot run a HP OEM Win7 OS and and HP OEM Win10 OS on the same PC, using the same license.

If you purchase your license, you can use this OS in combination with any other OS, without any license issues.

  • How can I upgrade my pc to Windows XP Home Edition to Windows XP Professional?

..... Will it take to get rid of XP Home Edition or can I install right to it? What are the steps needed to 'move' from XP Home, XP Professional?

  • I can XP Home edition to windows 7 Professional

I did some work at home and now the company computer that I need to connect to says that I need to windows xp professional or windows 7 - can I switch from xp to Windows 7 professional - home

If you do work at home on a PC with XP Home, you can probably continue to be. Forget Windows 7 for now, XP Pro is not really very different from XP Home. Of course, you will not be able to join a domain with XP Home. But the chances are all you need to do is change the name of domain name working group. Just right click my computer and select Properties, then click the computer name tab.

For Windows 7, your PC must support this! But unfortunately you never mentioned the brand, model and model number of your PC...

And as said Praseethat K, you cannot perform a direct upgrade XP Home (or XP Pro also) place to Windows 7. You have to copy all your data and perform a clean installation.

But as I said in my first paragraph, there is a VERY good chance that you can keep XP Home. Just check with yout THIS Department.

  • MS offers windows XP Professional free for customers windows XP Home Edition?

MY PC in the year 2002 came with windows XP Home Edition? But it was much slower compared to windows XP Professional. Many users for win XP prof especially pyrated version. PL Council MS will offer win XP Professional without cost or at a price of offordable?

There is actually no difference in speed between XP Home and XP Pro on a system clean and well-maintained, with adequate equipment. XP Pro can still be bought on Amazon, and perhaps other places. Looking right now, I see a full retail XP Pro on Amazon for $259. I would stay away from eBay and Craig's list for this sort of thing.

No, XP Pro is not available for free from Microsoft.

A better option would be for you to discover why your XP Home is slow instead.

Some reasons for the slow pace of the computer:

    1. computer has not been maintained - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Maintenance

    2. the computer is infected with the malware - http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware

    3. the disk is too full. Remove useless stuff, uninstall unused programs. Do not forget to save!
    http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Backing_Up

    4. flaky third party software. Toolbars and modules are particularly guilty in this area. Uninstall toolbars (Google, Yahoo, ISP brand, etc) and look at what modules are in use in your browser (s).

    5. computer has too many unnecessary programs/processes running in the background. Manage your Startup:

For XP - How to troubleshoot using the Msconfig in Windows XP utility - http://support.microsoft.com/?id=310560
The free Autoruns program is very useful for managing your Startup - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/default.mspx

For Vista/Windows7 - Start Orb > Search box > type: msconfig and when it appears in the results area above, right-click and choose 'run as administrator '. Autoruns is also very useful.

    6. the user runs an inflated/invasive such as Norton and McAfee antivirus program. Replace it with a better program. I recommend NOD32 (commercial) or Avast (free). Avira is also good, but the free version has an unpleasant reminder screen (Google for instructions on how to disable it). The user can also run several real-time antivirus/firewall/security programs.

    7. the user has installed new programs that are processor and/or memory-intensive (Photoshop, AutoCAD, Mathmatica or similar) and does not have the power of the equipment.

8 drive fails and is in PIO Mode. It's very much slow (like being in 1985). See Hans-Georg Michna here information - http://winhlp.com/?q=node/10

In addition to the above, see also http://miekiemoes.blogspot.com/2008/02/help-my-computer-is-slow.html

Note: If the computer has always been slow, in addition to the above user may have bought a machine with a less powerful processor and not enough RAM (memory). The normal use of the computer, 512 MB to 1 GB is sufficient for XP; Vista should have a minimum of 2 GB; Windows 7 is less demanding than Vista, but the minimum of 2 GB should also be used.

  • DELL refuses to honor the Windows 8 Pro downgrade rights

XPS13 (early 15) purchased for the CFO.  No. 7 Pro achievable so I bought a Pro 8 model with the intention to exercise my downgrade rights.

Spent 4 hours shoehorning 7 Pro plus all the drivers on it.  Last step is activation.

Try to activate and call Microsoft by them Backgrounder:

They tell me to call the OEM as only the OEM can make OEM key.

Call Dell (politely and patiently) over and over again and get:

    -hooked upward on

    -told to call Microsoft

-said to return the system and order a version of Windows 7 (does not exist)

-said to order Windows 7 Media (does not exist)

-a said several times by several representatives that Dell has a 'special' OEM license that does not include downgrade rights.

How the hell do you expect Dell maintain the SMB space (i.e. people not their operating system volume licensing) with this skin and * - and - bull story?

Nobody knows the correct channel at Dell to get this very basic need met?

Right of demotion for the license OEM Dell Windows 8/8.1 Professional requires a Dell Windows 7 Professional reinstallation DVD order to use the OEM System locked preinstallation. See here where I explain licensing and how SLP activation works more in detail:

    http://dellwindowsreinstallationguide.com/a-clean-install-of-Windows/a-clean-install-of-Windows-7/the-OEM-or-retail-license-and-product-activation-Windows-Vista-7/

License OEM is a minefield and with Microsoft break the digital distribution of windows 7 that it becomes even more difficult.

I bought a full version of Windows 7 Professional to install on my Vista Home Premium computer.  I tried to reformat my Vista drive in a right click on the C drive and select "format", but I get a message that I can not format this drive.  Help!

    Thank you

    Here is the Vista Forums.

You have to boot from the Windows 7 disc to do a clean install.

Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.

At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
