Windows 7 Registry Fix to recognize the dvd drive.
I just upgraded from 32 bit Vista Ultimate Edition of Windows 7 Ultimate and my CD and dvd drives are not recognized in my computer. They are in the device with an error Manager, "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its information of configuration (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19) "I tried searching never possible, someone has any ideas?
See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060 and follow the steps for Vista.

Windows 7 will not recognize the dvd drive
Windows 7 will not recognize the dvd drive, although it worked well for more than two years. Now I can't access it to install new software.
It will not be displayed in the Device Manager, bad shooters to say it is not connected or is, tried Fixit fix (could not as "not applicable to your computer update"), uninstall iTunes (in the case of a conflict - even if it worked with the DVD of > 1 year), etc., but still cannot access the DVD.
It's obviously a known issue, given that a support page - http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976187 that recommends the fix or manually disable ALPM active power management. If it of a known issue, why is not included in the updates and that I have to disable ALPM power if management it worked ok before?
What now? Is turn off the power, my only option? What happens if it is not yet recognized after that?

My computer windows 8 HP Pavillion M8100n does not recognize the DVD drive or the SD card reader. I have just upgraded to Windows 8 of Window Vista. Do you have any suggestions?
Hello
I see nothing unusual, except that there should be a "0001", or even "0002"...
When you have made the registry change, you used the command line (Admin)?... the process may not work with the regular command prompt...
Also, try to go to Device Manager, right click on your DVD drive, click on uninstall and restart.

Windows does not recognize the DVD drive at startup
Laptop: Dell E6410 ATG wt / verzion A15 Bios
OS: Windows 7 SP1 with the latest updates.
The question I have is when I log on Windows 7, the laptop does not recognize the DVD drive. The reader will not be displayed in my computer or Device Manager. I can get around this physically ejecting the disc and reinsert. If I do this drive appears in my computer Windows and Device Manager. It will read DVDs and CDs fine. I am able to reproduce the problem above mentioned question if I restart the laptop. If I restart the laptop the DVD drive won't be recognized and reinsert the drive will get it appears again.
This problem occurs if I try a DVD - RW drive and an old DVD - ROM drive. If I go into the BIOS before windows, I can see the BIOS recognizing drives ok but not when initially get into Windows without having to eject and inserting the disc.
Thanks in advance for any help.
I guess that this must be a hardware problem then.
Seems odd.
The only other thing I can think of, after reinstalling W7, is a BIOS problem eventually. A strange setting it may be an older version of BIOS with a bug in it. If you decide to update the bios, make sure that you get the latest version for your make and model PC and follow the instructions. You can destroy a PC with bad BIOS or update the procedure.

Windows Media Player does not recognize external DVD drive - so how do you watch a movie DVD?
I just connected an external DVD - RW drive in my ultrabook of Windows 8 for the first time. The ultrabook recognizes the drive and the dvd movie which are, but Windows Media Player only - only says: "connect a device". The resolution of the issues said that the drive works properly. I can't copy this movie at the video store, because it's a borrowed DVD. So, how do WMP to recognize the DVD drive and play the movie?
Hi HWH-CED,DVD playback is possible in 8 Pro windows media center. Player Windows Media 8 has no native codecs DVD added to it. You have the option to purchase an update for your Windows 8, which is Media Center Pack to allow playback of DVDs on your computer.* Note: Media center pack is only an upgrade for existing computers to Windows 8.BryanNeil -

My laptop does not reconise the integrated DVD or an external USB, DVD player. But if I set the BIOS to let the laptop for the start of the DVD player and the DVD player worked fine. Recognize the DVD drive in order to load Autocad
I am running VMware Fusion on my iMac with Windows XP Home Edition. I have already loaded AutoCAD LT 2008 on my machine, and although it runs terribly slow it works.
I'm now trying to load a version complete Autocad 2009 on the machine, but Windows does not recognize that I put the Autocad DVD in the DVD drive. He keeps asking for me to insert a disk.
Since than the other version, on that I already loaded and Windows are literally the only things that I put on the side Windows of the machine I don't have much experience with this, but I don't see why it would not see the DVD drive.
Any thoughts?
Thank you!

I am trying to install a new drive CD-RW/DVD-RW on a Tecra M1; However, when the computer does not recognize the drive.
Is there a solution to this?

For me it s case.
I would say that the BIOS can't handle the new player properly because of the wrong master/slave/c-salt settings
Readers slim for computers laptops support setting master/slave/c-salt settings and these settings can only be changed by changing the rider as on desktop drives.
So it is very important that you purchase a compatible player and supported because disks with incorrect settings will not work. Before buying a car, you should ask the service provider to Toshiba for a caught player supported and compatible

Why has my Windows 7 Home ceased to recognize the Fat32 drives?
Until a few months ago, my Windows 7 Home had no problem reading disks formatted FAT32, including my HTC Incredible phone. But now he wants to just get myself in shape every time that I connect them via USB. The same readers are very well read by my laptop Windows 7 Starter and a Windows XP computer. I even tried connecting to a Windows 7 computer to work, and he wants to format the drive as well. I was installing a bad update or it will be a fix soon?
Thank you.
Hello
Thank you for visiting Microsoft Community.
From your description, I understand that Windows 7 does not recognize Fat32 drives.
Please don't worry. I'll try my best to help you.
Did you change your computer?
Method 1: Run the troubleshooter to solve hardware problems or unknown device:
Open the hardware and devices Troubleshooter
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/open-the-hardware-and-devices-Troubleshooter
Method 2: Try the procedure described in the article below:
Tips for solving common driver problems
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/tips-for-fixing-common-driver-problems
Method 3: Scanning of the file system [SFC] checker on the computer that will replace missing or corrupt files & check if the problem persists.
How to use the System File Checker tool to fix the system files missing or corrupted on Windows Vista or Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833
Method 4: Check which application is conflicted:
Step 1: Start your computer in safe mode with networking
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/start-your-computer-in-safe-mode
Note: Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not work in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed
If the problem does not occur in Mode safe mode with networking, we can use the approach 50 / 50 to narrow down the root cause of the problem.
Step 2: Refer to the section below for instructions on how to start your computer in a clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: When the diagnosis is complete do not forget to reset the computer to a normal startup. Follow step 7 in the above article.
Please follow these recommended steps, review the additional information provided and post back if you still have the problem. I'll be happy to provide you with additional options available that you can use to get this problem is solved.
