Windows 7 - screen goes to sleep when the parameters of plan of power has never turn off

Looking for some advice - we have screens that display information for visitors so that they must be all the time. The computers to which they are connected are on the network but connected with local accounts. We applied a number of parameters for the management of food, namely:

Turn the hard drive off - never

Sleep after - never

Allow hybrid sleep - never

Hibernate after - never

Selective suspension of USB - disabled

Turn off the display after - never

Despite the settings above the screens go blank and I have to move the mouse or press any key to wake up. It doesn't seem to be any obvious either pattern. Sometimes they remain turned on for 1-2 hours then go to sleep, other times maybe every 20-30 minutes.

I looked at several articles but could not find a solution that works for us. We tried to apply a GPO that defines power management in case something else might override the settings, but it did not work either.

The computers are running Windows 7 SP1.

Now I'm out of ideas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Gary,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

I understand that you have problems with power settings across computers connected to a network.

The computers are connected to a domain network, it would be better suited to the TechNet community.

  • Screen goes to sleep in the cradle after 30 minutes.

Model 121us/s Sony xperia S goes to sleep when placed on cradle after about 30 minutes. The inactivity ' Sleep' function is located ten minutes and I checked the "always on" option in the Developer tab of the settings to prevent the screen turn the power off when it is plugged. I'm at a loss as to what I might need to do to solve this problem. The Tablet is used as a clock when the cradle in order to have the screen off, is not good!

The issue started occurring about 2 months ago. I don't remember any installation or update may have made the change. It is currently running 4.1.1.

Think about it, the tablet screen stays on when the Tablet is LOAD, but once it reaches a full charge, the screen can accommodate.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi bsadriaansen.

Try to perform a soft reset to solve the problem. You can perform the soft reset by pressing and holding the button for 10 seconds approximately.

Reset of the tablet will not return to default factory settings, but the parameters or unsaved data may be lost.

  • PC goes mode sleep when the Power Options are set for ever, etc. also can not wake up

Hi, I read the other posts on this topic, but my problem seems a little different.

I am running Windows 7 on a Dell desktop computer and I tried to run chkdsk and also the Dell diagnostics that I have some problems hard drive; However, it gets so far and the pc goes into mode 'sleep' causing me even worse problems that chkdsk/diagnoses are halfway through a volume. The pc has done this on and off tension for awhile, but hopefully not when something critical is running, even if it is a nuisance.  I did all the steps recommended here as ensure my Power Options are set, etc., but he always does.

In addition, when the pc goes to sleep, I can't wake him up by pressing the power button or any key on the keyboard.

I've been in contact with Dell and they said that it's a software problem.

Someone can suggest something else I can do (stop) the computer mode 'sleep' and also how to wake him.

    Thank you.

    Hello

I'm sorry for the late reply.

As you mentioned in your previous post, you wanted to know how to boot from the disc, I've provided the steps how to boot from the disc on my previous post. However, you can try to repair your windows using DVD for Windows 7 backup and check.

You can see this Microsoft article below that will help you fix Windows 7.

  • Help! My MacBook goes to sleep when the disk (on the recovery partition) utility is running!

Currently, my MacBook is initialized in the Lion recovery partition. I am running disk utility and try to reduce the main partition, so I can clone a smaller HD (Yes, still there is enough space on the smaller disk.) But I have a problem... my custody of Mac to go to sleep, resulting in a never-ending cycle of wake - sleep-cancellation. The progress bar is apparently stuck to half way through. I don't want to touch anything, for fear of making the disk unbootable. (Of course, it is possible that it is already in ruins, but...) But I also have other things to do; I want to stay here all day just to keep typing on the keyboard, move the mouse, etc, to keep my Mac awake.

Never mind. Looks like disk utility is stuck, and nothing happened. After a reboot and a repair, the volume is OK, but not shrunk.

  • Laptop will not go to sleep when the lid is closed

    Separated from this thread.

Same problem here. My settings say that my Toshiba will sleep when the lid is closed, but half the time is not asleep and I can feel it's hot and turns on the fan. I am so frustrated with this new laptop and Windows 8.1. Looks like too many bugs in the software or something. More I am working on the new laptop the more problems that I find, like screen discoloration as well. The forums are useless. I do what they say, and the problem is the same. Forget the call from Toshiba. Needless. Nobody will help unless you pay them money to subscribe. What customer service?

    Hello

Thanks for posting your concern here at the Microsoft Community forum. Let me help you with your concern.

This problem may occur because of any change in power on your laptop options. If the default is set to hibernation and standby modes, your laptop goes to sleep when you close the lid, but then the Hibernate timer comes in and wake up your computer first and trying to Hibernate. He cannot go to Hibernate directly from mode 'sleep'. Go into the power settings and either disable hibernation or set the timer on a higher value.

To apply the same setting to all plans:

    1. Open Power Options by pressing the Windows key + X, clicking Control Panel, click system and security, and then clicking Power Options.
    2. On the Select a power plan page, click choose the cover.
    3. On the page define power buttons and turn on password protection , next to when I close the lid, choose what you want your laptop to do, both when it is running on battery and when it's plugged in.
    4. Click on save changes.

Tip: To save battery power and quickly resume working, select sleep. Sleep is a power saving state that allows a computer quickly resume the operation of full power (usually in seconds) when you want to start working again.

To apply a setting to a specific regime:

    1. Open Power Options by pressing the Windows key + X, clicking Control Panel, click system and security, and then clicking Power Options.
    2. On the Select a power plan page, click change plan settings for the plan you want to change.
    3. On the change settings for the plan page, click change advanced power settings.
    4. Advanced settings tab, expand it cover and the Power button, action lid, choose what you want your mobile PC to do when you close the lid, for when it runs on battery and when it is plugged in, and then click OK.

I hope this helps. If you need help with Windows, let us know and will be happy to help you.

    Hello

As far as I know the laptop to stand mode when the lid is closed!
Please check your settings in Vista power options and turn off the lid closing option.

In addition, I would recommend updating the BIOS and the driver of graphics if a newer version is available on the European driver Toshiba page.

  • The width of the preview in Windows Explorer screen can be hung on the left side instead of the right side?

Whenever I open a Windows Explorer window, the preview window to adapt is questionable.  It is anchored on the right side of the window.  Sometimes it's fine, other times, it covers more important data like date/time and file size.  If I have it full screen on my wide screen, everything is great, but when I throw it in my smaller screen, everything must shrink.  Rather than shrink the preview pane, it allows the preview pane cover the most important areas.

The width of the preview in Windows Explorer screen can be hung on the left side instead of the right side?

I don't think it can be docked to the left.  I know that the sector details can twisted to put it on the bottom rather than the side (like Vista/7), but the preview pane itself isn't such a tweak.

  • I can do: sleep when the lid is closed, EXCEPT when an external display is connected?

    Hello

Please let me know if this is possible. Seems to me like a current need, but I can't find a way to achieve this.

I wish that the laptop to sleep when I close the lid (battery / plugged - matter), except when I have a connected external display.

The script is very simple, I prefer to work with an external display, so I don't want or need the lid is open. When I'm on the road, the "sleep when the lid is closed" is a desired behavior.

    Is this possible?

    Thank you

    Roee.

    (1) this function is available in the Apple OS, but not in OS Win.

    (2) but, you can set a custom power plan to do this, so when you connect an external monitor just switch the power around plan. It is the easiest way to get what you want.
