Windows 7 SP1 RC messes up 2 USB drives

I had this problem before and removed the SP1 and it cures the problem, now, after some update, he's back.  I have 6 USB drives on my desktop HPE - 390T.  Two of these drives keep popping up a message "this device can operate more quickly if connected to a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port."  Well, it is a Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port.  I checked the drivers and all six USB ports have the same version of the driver.  When you check the Device Manager on these two ports, it has yellow triangle with exclamation point and that is the message by double clicking on "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might be installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or maybe it's a malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52) "I tried to update the drivers but it comes back that I have the latest drivers, which as I said, are exactly the same as the other 4 USB ports.

For any help or suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

If all is not lost, where is he?

  • Windows 8.1 LaserJet 1000 connected by USB - driver support?

The printer is recognized through the control panel of configuration/Printers devices menu but said that no driver is available.

The website says this printer is using a driver "in the BONE" and provides a process through the Add Printer Wizard which is supposed to show the driver.  I have goen through this process a couple of times, including the flow of Windows Update and see a long list of printers, but not the LaserJet 1000.

  • Satellite A300-19 q - how to start with an external USB drive

    Hi all!

I have a (old) TOSHIBA Satellite A300-19 q bought in 2008. I wanted to do a clean install of Windows 7 by reformatting my HD. The problem is that my internal DVD drive no longer works. So I tried to boot from the Windows 7 DVD installation with an external USB drive.
Unfortunately, I couldn't find a way to boot from USB devices in my BIOS options.
My BIOS is up to date (version 4.20) from Toshiba Web site.

So I was wondering, does anyone know if the A300-19 q can boot from USB devices?

    Thank you in advance.

I have A300 at home but I never tried to start with an external USB device.
Start your laptop and press F12 to get into the boot menu. There must be USB option. What happen when you try to use it?

  • VM Workstation 11, Windows 7 SP1 and USB 3.0

I'm pretty new to VM but am currently trying to connect to a USB 3.0 32 GB thumb drive on a Windows 7 SP1 OS(both physical and virtual) using VM Workstation 11.1.2 build-2780323 and when I plug the USB I have a USB device not recognized.  I found an online registration form, where someone said that USB 3.0 is not supported for virtual windows 7.  is this true and if so anyone know when this support will be added?  I understand that I'm not the only one who wants it.  Can anyone provide any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello gibsomj,

Welcome to the VMware community forums.

    Your research is correct.

Windows 7 does not include drivers USB3 from Microsoft (sometimes also called drivers supplied with Windows) and as a result there is no support from the native usb3 for Windows 7 clients. It is planned not exactly as on the time windows 7 was sold usb3 was available on the material, and of course, it worked, but the supplied drivers were all pilots 3rd party.

Unfortunately none of these 3rd third-party drivers will work with hardware virtual usb3 in your virtual machine, so, even if you enable it, there is no drivers who can use it.

Windows 8 (and higher) has usb3 drivers provided with Windows and it works there.

What can you do in addition to the upgrade? If your hardware is compatible usb2, you might be able to force them to use the usb2 interface by either usng a usb2 cable or a hub usb2 between your usb3 device and the host.

As for the question on when will it be supported. Basically, knows only VMware and unfortunately, VMware has a policy not to comment on the features that could be supported in the future.

That said, there is a rumor that the new Tech Preview on VMware Fusion (version comparable to desktop tech preview) had invited "usb3 support for windows 7" on its list of features. That comment is gone, so we won't know if it was a typo or a real function.

  • How to install my BT stack for windows on the laptop using Windows Vistta SP1

You are right. Use at least 5 or later if you want to install a Vista. Visit the website of the seller adapter USB Bluetooth if a newer version is available. The version on the Web of Toshiba Bluetooth site is customized for these books, and not as a result of your hardware.

    Hello

During the installation of Windows 7 or 8.1 using a USB stick - get the message "cannot be installed, it is a GPT partition.

I have 64 bit install discs for Win 7 and Win 8.1. These two install on my desktop in duel boot. I made a Flash DRIVE of each disk so I can install it more quickly.

Problem: I get the cannot install because it is a GPT partition.

Y at - there no way to make these 2 USB sticks work?

    Thank you, Brad

Make sure you create your media recovery HP or USB Flash Recovery discs before you edit or change anything.

Your computer does not have Microsoft's Downgrade rights and you must buy a copy of Windows 7 with a valid Microsoft COA and product key.

The screenshots below is from a laptop HP 15 t-j100... options and the configuration on your computer screens may differ.

You will need to DISABLE "Secure Boot" and ENABLE "Legacy Support" in the "Configuration of the BIOS start-up secure" on the settings page similar to what is shown below, until you try to install Windows 7.

After you save the changes, the computer will ask you to confirm the changes... Accept the changes by typing the four digit code and press the ENTER"" key.

If you install Windows 7 from a USB and see a message of "load a driver - a required CD/DVD drive device is missing", it's because as 'System Configuration' > 'Config USB3.0 in pre-start' is set to 'Enabled '. This should be set to 'Auto '.

In addition, as the factory hard drive is partitioned as TPG, you must start using the internal CD/DVD UEFI or UEFI-Key/key USB to install Windows on a GPT-partitioned disk. Turn on or restart the computer and press "F9" or "ESC", then "F9" when prompted. Select the source of boot UEFI you use and you press "ENTER".

I suggest using Windows 7 SP1 for the best installation experience. If the DVD does not start as UEFI, you may need to use a USB Flash drive (can ask "Quick start" DISABLING in BIOS) as the installation media. Please note that some computers may not recognize a valid active UEFI USB Flash drive if it is formatted in NTFS and may require only a FAT32 formatted USB Flash drive. You should be able to make a FAT32 formatted Windows 7 installation USB Flash drive using Rufus, UNetbootin, Universal USB Installeror WiNToBootic. I like Rufus, because it contains options for 'Plan of GPT partition for UEFI computer' and 'FAT32'.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

  • DNS error - IE cannot connect to the Internet - Windows XP SP1 :(

I'm trying to help my brother. We have a Dell Dimension 3000 running Windows XP SP1. The computer has a virus, and a clean installation was completed. That is why, it is show SP1 now that those were records. Everything seems to be OK until trying to connect to the Internet (there's currently IE6). From message which can not find the DNS server.

I've done several things already including cleaning winsock and winsock2 and reinstall TCP/IP. Manager of network devices is here. I get a ping to the IP address 169.meta XXX but no ping at all outside the site.

I went into Internet Options menu. I'm lost what to try next. Help!

    Thank you.

    Joelkaghami,

Ok. Let me clarify a point. My brother lives in a different House, further away from me. I have the Dell Dimension now home trying to get updated, he had a virus and system has been reloaded. But he was only SP1. I know it will take forever to download and update the machine through dial-up and the disc, he got the ISP did not recognize IE6.

So, to help my brother, I brought the computer to my house I have a DSL network and I was going to the network it and then do the automatic updates to update the system here and then give it to him. However, I could not the computer to communicate with my network.

OK, that makes more sense to me; Please specify.

In the meantime, I downloaded the SP2, SP3 (still need to install this one as stated above) and IE8 on the site of MS. I have have updated the computer, but still can not communicate with my network. And that is why I am asking about the modem ISP connection. I thought just update with SP3 and then ship back to his house and let him try the ISP software. It might just make him go.

    Good.

In my view, sp3 includes a newer IE, but I'm not sure.

Anyway, if you want you can download the updates, and then copy them to the dell.

    1. go on a computer that can go on the internet.

    2. download the updates on the hard drive.

    3. copy the updates to the dell via USB key, cd, dvd, etc.

Here is a link to download a newer IE:

So that's the story. Sorry if I confused you sooner.

No prob.  I really wanted to hear that the dell works and can get on the internet.

  • No sound after installing Windows 7 SP1 on Dell 15 (1564)

    Hello

I had to make a clone of my HD that came with the machine almost died - the system did not start as it was too busy to work with bad sectors. The new clone has worked well, except no sound. I reinstalled all the drivers, including the chipset Intel HD Audio and Realtek Audio card drivers, but no go. Even video drivers AMD drivers LAN, card reader drivers, I reinstalled everything but nothing worked. I finally deleted the Windows 7 SP1 installation, and all of a sudden, everything works fine! I reinstalled the version SP1 with a new copy of the Microsoft site and again the sound disappears. When I go to system information, audio devices are no problem. Windows and Dell own troubleshooting finds no problem. The Realtek speakers are set by default (tried deactivating and reactivating, but did not work). The only point where reviews of windows without the audio is generated when I go into the settings of the speakers, select the speakers (only option is stereo) and click Test, the system claims that the sound could not be played. Am I doomed to Windows 7 which can never be updated for SP1?

Note also that I can't go back to the factory because settings that the cloning process deleted the hidden partition. Also, I never had the drives installation or repair for Windows 7, so that option is out as well.

What, in the Windows SP1 could cause the noise problem? I realize that since the Audio worked fine before cloning in SP1, the question must be with the architecture of Windows, but why the sound will return when I uninstall SP1?

    Anyone have any new ideas?

Such problems are common with factory settings which have the pre-installed drivers, as well as pre-installed software.

Windows 7 Service Pack 1 contains a number of drivers which adequate conflict with the pre-installed drivers. So you reduced the (likely) bad audio and video performance may be bad.

You can try to uninstall audio and video drivers to uninstall Windows 7 Service Pack 1, then go to uninstall or change a program and remove any audio or video software. Also to uninstall the drivers from Device Manager and then install Windows 7 Service Pack 1, and then the drivers.

It would probably be better if you just clean installed with media that contains the Service Pack 1 and then install system drivers in the correct order.

Follow the Windows reinstallation Guide / A clean installation of Windows 7:

    http://philipyip.WordPress.com/Dell-community-forums/

It will tell you how to download a Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 installation .iso, create a bootable USB, backup product activation and clean install of Windows 7. This should give optimal performance.

  • 11.1 workstation, Windows 7 SP1 x 64, EFI, the CD-ROM does not start

Is Windows 7 x 64 supported as an EFI guest OS in my computer with hardware 11.1 virtual v11?

I recently upgraded from Workstation v9 to v11.1.0 build-2496824 under my Windows 7 SP1 x 64 machine and tried to create a new guest Windows 7 support EFI and the installation media does not start to get the Setup will.

The same boot on any BIOS type invited media and I tried Windows 7 and Windows 7 with SP1 integrated all directly from Microsoft, not custom ISOs and none of them will work under EFI, but will work under BIOS.  In the same way 2008 and 2008 R2 media starts if EFI is used.

EFI VMs can boot media of Windows 8 and successfully towards the top (2012 etc.) but not the previous generation of operating system.

I tried a few different things, such as starting the ISO from a disk share and local network.

I tried all 3 variants of the dvd/cdrom: SATA, SCSI, IDE, including the legacy mode which I don't think that is really work because it is not verified when I go back to change the setting.

I tried to install from the EFI shell initialization, but the media are not yet mounted under blk0 so I can't go any further.

My boot device options are all configured properly and tried to force the virtual cdrom boot at startup without success.

I also tried going through the physical CD-ROM mapping rather than the ISO file and not luck.

My Setup seems to be supported, however the matrix of interoperability and compatibility points vs EFI BIOS support.  I know that Windows 7 supports UEFI then it should work and I've seen posts where people have deployed it successfully under different versions of workstation using the EFI emulation.

I also tried with hardware virtual v10

Both typical and custom installation modes recognize media but can't can at start up.

Should I do the start method USB with a sort of generation of personalized media?

Here is an excerpt from the log file where it seems just that it's not picking up on startup even though we clearly see the ISO it:

I just want to know if it is actually supported and if someone else has this problem there.

It was about 3.5 GB but I just downloaded a new copy on the site MS VL and apparently boot into EFI now.  Don't know how the ISO precedent (and other ISOs 2008) would work under BIOS but not EFI but it's good enough for me.

Thanks to confirm support of the scenario mentioned however, I had thoughts seconds on this subject.

  • Apple iPhone 4S for windows 8.1 usb driver

Apple iPhone 4S no usb driver for windows 8.1

    Hello syap_pop,

It seems that you have the driver installed on Windows 8.1 for iOS devices. Use this section of the following article:

If iTunes does not recognize your iPhone, iPad, or iPod

You do not see the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver

    1. Disconnect your device from your computer.
    2. Save a screenshot by pressing the Home button and sleep/wake button of the device button at the same time. The screen should Flash briefly.
    3. Reconnect your device to your computer.
    4. If you see one of these sections in the Device Manager, expand them:
      • Imaging devices
      • Other devices
      • Portable devices
      • USB Bus controllers

Now, locate the entry that recognizes the device as a camera. You should see 'Apple IPhone', 'Apple iPad' or 'Apple iPod '. Right-click the device entry, and then manually update the Apple Mobile Device USB driver.

If a single unknown device appears, follow these steps:

    1. Right click on the unknown device entry.
    2. Choose Properties from the context menu, and then click the Details tab.
    3. In the drop-down menu, select hardware IDS.
    4. If the ID begins with something other than USB\VID_0000 & PID_0000, go into the Device Manager and right click on the entry for device unknown, and then manually update the Apple Mobile Device USB driver.
    5. If the ID begins with USB\VID_0000 & PID_0000, then follow the remaining steps.
    6. Unplug the unit and remove all the USB devices on the computer.
    7. Shut down the computer, and then turn it back on.
    8. Reconnect the device, tests of each USB port for about 30 seconds to see if the device is recognized.
    9. Test with a different, checked 30-pins-USB or the lightning-connector-cable-USB, if they are available.
