Windows 7 SP1 won't install; computer crashes.

Hello

Windows 7 SP1 appears in Windows Update, but whatever I do, it will not be installed and each Setup attempt, it crashes my computer.

When trying to install, I get the error 800b0100. However, Windows Update usually hangs on 0% download and I need turning off the computer to use it.

I use Windows 7 64-bit.

I followed all THE tips: load Update Readiness Tool (KB947821) system; use the Windows Update troubleshooting tool (whenever it identifies a problem with a compenent update, said it corrected, but you run the it and the same process happens); downloaded the latest version of Windows update. disabled Norton...

Is not just to stop me update MS, but the constant search for updates made my computer unusable but is the cause of crash constantly. I can not use system restore because I tried the update as many times that the first restore point is too late.

I would be very grateful for any advice.

Thank you very much

James

Hi James,

Windows Update error 800b0100 occurs when a file required by Windows Update is corrupted or missing.

Check this link for more information:

Try to download the standalone version of the service pack and install it manually on the computer.

You can download service pack 1 from the following link:

  • Windows 7 SP1 will not install. Element is not found, the error not found (0 x 80070490) 490

I'm running Windows 7 64.  I tried to use Windows Update and received this message: element not found, not found error (0 x 80070490).  Code 490 Windows Update encountered an unknown error.  I tried all of the troubleshooting, difficulty, burning the .iso (which worked great on my laptop running Win 7 32) and I tried a repair, nothing works.  Any ideas or should I just not worry about installing SP1?

    All,

If all the above steps give no results, the next logical step is to perform an InPlace upgrade.

An upgrade on the spot is the final solution before you have to reinstall the operating system.

Note that it takes as much time to do the upgrade as to reinstall the operating system. In addition, some of your custom Windows settings may be lost through this process.

How to perform a repair installation of Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2. Run a repair installation will restore the current installation of Windows to the version of the installation DVD. It also requires the installation of all the updates that are not included on the installation DVD.

Note Run a repair installation will not damage files and applications that are currently installed on your computer.

To perform a repair installation of Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2, follow these steps:

    1. close all running applications.

    2. Insert the Windows Vista, Windows Server 2008, Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2 DVD into the DVD drive of the computer.

    3. in the settings window, click install now.

Note If Windows does not automatically detect the DVD, follow these steps:

Click on start and type Drive: \setup.exe in the box to start the search.

Note The placeholder drive is the drive letter of the computer's DVD.

    List programs, click Setup.exe.

In the settings window, click install now.

    1. click on connect to get the latest updates for installation (recommended).

    2. type the CD key if you are prompted to do so.

    3. Select the operating system in the "Windows Installer" page you want to update or Inplace.

    4. click Yes to accept the Microsoft software license agreement.

    5. on the which type of installation you want? of the screen, click upgrade.

    6. when the installation is complete, restart your computer.

    Hello

Use the other methods here and startup repair to see if you can access more and then
Use the methods in my my 1st answer above and don't forget to launch SFC and CheckDisk. Also you
    can try a repair Installation.

You can try some of them in Mode safe - tap F8 repeatedly that you start.

If you do not have a Windows 7 disc, you can borrow a friends because they are not a copy

Clean Windows. You can also do an ERD on another computer.

Try the Startup Repair - (if at anytime, benefit you from some, but not full access coming to Windows
return and then try to startup repair.)

  • Repeated installation of Windows Vista SP1 in Windows Update and fake notification of successful Installation.

I was using Windows Vista Home Basic 32 bit OS in my Dell Inspiron 1501. The operating system is preinstalled and Windows Update updated to SP2. But recently an unknown problem has occurred and my laptop cannot connect to the internet. As no reason was found, experts have advised the reinstallation of Windows Vista. I reinstalled Vista by running the operating system provided by Dell with my laptop DVD. The laptop started to connect to the internet normally.

I started to receive an update to Windows Vista SP1. I installed it. Installation has suddenly didn't have that about five minutes and the computer also has not restarted several times on its own as expected. At the end of the Windows Update notification "Update" successful installation Update history shows also succeed installing SP1. However, I am receiving the same updated daily and installed in exactly in the same way with the same result. After installation, the Windows version does not display Windows Vista Home Basic SP1 but only Windows Vista Home Basic. What should I do?

I had the same problem and it really irritated me. Even when you install SP1, and he says there are successful (takes like 1 sec inst) and you click on updates search is there once again. He said in the story who is has been installed, but is not there, when I tried to install SP2 maually it is said first install SP1, and then I tried to manually install SP1 and it says that I have already. But if you go to start > right click on 'computer' > properties it does not say you have SP1. So here's what I just did and now it worked and SP2 as well.

When you click on the support link that he gave u get the ability to run a thing 'fixit '. That run. And it still didn't work. (read everything in the support page) Then I went on this link and ran the virus Hunter MS. Nothing was found, problem still there. so I ran again the file 'fixit '. (twice he said them that something was fixed.) then I restart my computer and tried to install the SP1 Setup again and it worked perfectly :) then SP2 and it worked as well manually. and he has actally took like an hour to install. maybe try, worked for me. lol, don't know what measures was unnecessary, but it worked. You can download the SP to install it manually, simply google "manually install SP1/2 for vista" or something and download it.
Sorry for the bad grammar/spelling. In a hurry, lol. I hope that you manage!

  • Update that installs get Windows 10 app Windows 8.1 and Windows 7 SP1 KB3035583 is NOT hidden

    Hello

I have Windows 7 SP1, and because my computer is a netbook (small laptop) with only 2 GB maximum installable RAM, I don't want to upgrade to Windows 10.

Nor do I want to find that I have any nagging application on my computer, which I find I become obliged often to answer, in order to re - hide the app.

I have therefore configured as Windows Update settings:

'Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them '

    I then "Hid" update KB3035583,

and also confirmed that he had been placed in the: dialog "restore hidden Updates.

I haven't used the system restore from the cache to update KB3035583,

Yet it often reappears in the list of the optional updates available for installation,

and then I have to hide it again!

When KB3035583 reappears in the list of the optional updates, it also is more listed in the dialog box "restore hidden Updates", yet the other updates that I've previously hidden, remain in this dialog box.

This problem only seems to affect KB3035583.

    This problem is normal?

    Any correction is likely?

Is there a way to fix this?

I hope to hear from anyone with a solution.

    Kind regards

1 have you made changes to your computer recently?

    2. you receive an error message when you try to connect to the Internet?

    3. what happens when you try to connect to the Internet by cable?

I suggest you to follow the steps and check if it helps.

    Method 1:

Step 1: Start in safe mode with network.

To use a safe mode with network option, follow these steps:

    (a) restart your computer and start pressing F8 on your keyboard. On a computer that is configured to start to multiple operating systems, you can press the F8 key when the Boot Menu appears.

    (b) use the arrow keys to choose Safe mode with networking in the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, and press ENTER.

Step 2: PEd a clean boot and then check to see if it helps.
