Windows 7 still... Verification of updates.

Hello world

First of all, I know there are a lot of posts on this topic, but I thought I'd explain my experience until this especially since July 29, 2015 and I hope someone can spot something that escapes me.

Windows 7 updates installation before the date above allways could take a long time since a clean install of Windows, but that's to be expected.

Procedure 1: my procedure was then install Clean > SP1 disk > the install file IE11 > Windows updates.

-Allways worked unless there was a problem of system, that would get an error message that you had something to work with (i.e. Intel Matrix question after replacing hard drive.)

Then came July 29, 2015 and everything changed.

-The same procedure as above but stuck on checking for updates indefinitely.

Initially I would like to reset the services of Windows updates, rename Catroot2 folder C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution etc..

Still no difference.

Procedure 2: After some research, I added the following to the procedure.

-Install KB3083710 (Windows Update Client) and KB3102810 (update for Windows 03/11/15), this was added before putting the PC online to check the updates normally.

I found that this one would work even if there were still more than 100 updates updated installed later, but at least there was progress.

Procedure 3: Then comes the June 2016 roll up updated (such as Service Pack 2) and I thought Yes finally were getting somewhere.

-Procedure was then install Clean > SP1 > IE11 > KB3083710 > June Roll Up updated.

Although the foregoing would install.  If you checked then updates normally then it would stay on checking for updates and never progress.  This on several computers and several networks.  All good in the country of system no way near 100% CPU and RAM usage during the audit.  Some oem installs some on manafacturers restorations of the Image.  Left of the overnight for at least 12 hours or more.

So I went back to porecdure 2 after a clean installed and never guess what verification of updates.

What am I missing something.  Hope you good people would point at something and I apoligise for this rambling message, but I think that we must solve this problem once and for all.

P.S. I have remove the IE11 procedures above to the case where.

Thanks in advance.

First in Windows Updates settings, to never look for updates.

Restart your computer, and then install KB3020369, if not installed.
Then, install KB3172605.

Windows updates should return to normal.

https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3020369

https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/3172605

You can then set the Windows Update, settings back to what they were.

Windows 7 home started an update on 5/10 which were 19 updates.  10 hours later it is still updating. It seems that it is locked on the number 16.  How to exit the update?  What should I do after that?  I understand the update KB3004394 could stop other updates of the installation.  What is the problem?

    Hi James,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

As described in question, it seems that you can not install updates and it get stuck at 16 of 19, this problem may occur if one or more of the following conditions are met:

    1. The Windows Update database is damaged.
    2. Antivirus software is configured to scan the folder % Windir%\SoftwareDistribution.
    3. Service (BITS) Background Intelligent Transfer Service does not receive a content link header.
    4. A required system file is incorrectly registered.

If it helps, try the methods and check them off below.

Updates Windows runs for an excessive time.

How can it be fixed so that it takes less than 5 to 10 minutes instead of 1 hour?

SFC/scannow shows no breach of integrity.

Had clicked on the updates windows with CPU 23% and 30% of physical memory.  Updates Windows is still ongoing and spent 45 minutes.

How you work up extensive delays in windows updates?  And how to fix this?

If Windows 7 have problems to find updates, causing heavy CPU or RAM with the Svchost.exe process, use the reason that Windows Update could not automatically update the Windows Update Client.

  • Windows Vista will not install updates.

I came across Best Buy, bought the first thing I have seen & to the left. It's just the small things. My main PC is myPC music recording studio (never online) so for my this, that I bought... I don't care.

a m9402f 7.00 GB 64-bit system quad-core 2.30 Ghz procesor.  On the 626 GB on the 'C' drive, I only used GB 129.  I don't know why I've bothered w/a Seagate external extreem HD 1000GO?  Works great, I've never used one before Vista but works very well.

Thus, recent updates do not keep install .  What's up with the updates? What is happening with this? Should I just go buy Windows 7?  I spend hours looking for solutions and never ask for help, but this time I am so tired so I'm going to ask.  Below are updates that keep a failure... Notice they're on SP2 * and IE8. My PC alread had installed SP2.  I tried an update for this.  I have switch from IE 7 to 8. I don't see any other reasons.

Hello, I run the servers at my work, and systems are 64-bit.  It would be just that sometimes your system needs to do things differently running 32-bit.  Not sure why they choose to divide them, but that's how it is on my servers.

Sorry, you have problems getting your patches installed. I have a number of things for you to look at.  First of all, your Background Intelligent Transfer Services set to Automaticand started and Windows Update ? They both should be started. You can check these settings by typing services.msc in the search box of the start menu.

Sometimes in order to get patches to install correctly, you must perform these tasks manually. Download each of these islets and click download and run.

    KB981715

    kb981726

If this does not work, try to run the Microsoft OneCare safety scanner.  Sometimes it will solve problems of hidden registry, or can clear the virus that can prevent the installation of the patches: http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/center/whatsnew.htm. Click full service scan, and then Quick scan (full scan takes a long time to complete). Try the patches.

  • I would like an option that reads 'check at startup' on when windows 7 checks the automatic updates.

I would like an option that reads 'check at startup' on when windows 7 checks the automatic updates. Some people still turn off their computers when you are not using it. Hi Judy,.

    1. do you get an error code?

    2. who is the antivirus installed on the computer program?

Since this is a security update, there is a chance of infection from malicious software on the computer. We will analyze and identify the cause of the problem.

    Method 1:

You can reset Windows Update components and check.

Note: This section, method, or task contains steps that tell you how to modify the registry. However, serious problems can occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you proceed with caution. For added protection, back up the registry before you edit it. Then you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, click on the number below to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

    Method 2: Virus Scan

Run a scan antivirus on your computer.

    www.Microsoft.com/Security/Scanner

Note: If infections are detected during the scan, there is a risk of data loss because infected files will be deleted.

  • Windows xp will not install updates

I did steps 1 - 10f... updates of windows will still not installed. Stopped after attempting the installation of the update.

    1. IN the stop step #9 => did you uninstall .NET Framework 4 Client Profile , or you go to step # 10 has?

2A. When you started to see #10f, were KB2570947, KB2616676, KB931125 (update root certificates) & the Malicious Software Removal Tool , the selected updates to be installed?

2B. what (s) [including any error number] you got during the installation of the system failed?

    Notwithstanding these questions...

OPTION A: Visit the Microsoft Solution Center and antivirus security for resources and tools to keep your PC safe and healthy. If you have problems with the installation of the update itself, visit the Microsoft Update Support for resources and tools to keep your PC updated with the latest updates.

OPTION B: There is a good chance that you see the effects of a hijackware infection!

NB: If you had no installed anti-virus application or subscription has expired * when the machine was first infected * or your subscription has expired since or the machine is not kept fully corrected in Windows Update, don't waste your time with any of the below: go to OPTION C below.  A repair install won't help!

Microsoft is sponsoring free, online (third!) for questions: http://supportservices.microsoft.com/support/services/virus_malware_removal

OPTION C: Your misguided use of Wise Registry Cleaner, cleaner CCleaner registry and/or Ashampoo may have "screwed the dog" here.

Windows XP has been partially updated and may not work perfectly

    Hello

    -You installed correctly updated recently?
-You are aware of any changes made on the computer before this problem?
Method 1: I suggest to maintain the computer in clean boot mode and check if the problem still persists.

    Step 1: Clean Boot Mode
A clean boot to check if startup item or services to third-party application is causing this issue.
You can read the following article to configure the computer to boot:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929135
Note: After the troubleshooting steps, refer to clean the start link to configure the computer to normal startup mode.

Step 2: Manually disable the Antivirus

Important note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

    Step 3: Install Service Pack 2 (SP2)

Steps to take before you install Windows XP Service Pack 3

Include to determine which SP1 is installed

Method 2: Follow the steps mentioned below and check if the problem persists.

Step 1: Microsoft Windows Update Agent tool
How to get the latest version of the Windows Update Agent?

Step 2: Try to install the updates and check if the problem persists.

Method 3: Try to download and install the Windows XP SP2 and SP3 manually and check if the problem persists.
