Oracle 11g on Windows XP - TCP with SSL
Hello
have successfully installing Oracle 11 g on a Windows XP computer that is used as a small server in a test/test environment.
This machine is running in my local environment without external connections Windows Firewall is disabled.
A java test program written to connect to the server using TCP / through a connection of plaintext using the driver oracle thin JDBC works very well.
Wanted now to set up the server so that it would accept SSL connections (ultimately with counterpart, but without authentication server or client authentication as a configuration to boot).
Used Oracle Net Manager to configure the server as follows:
(Note: have used red ink hightlight settings I don't know if they are needed)

For some reason, the server doesn't listen on port 2484 at all (running telnet localhost 2484 on the server itself leads to no possible connection).
Is not not a network expert I'm stuck here and would appreciate any help on how to overcome this problem of set-up.
Thank you
Why a listener 2nd for the TCPS? Why not use a single listener - as is the default value recommended?
Do you have SSL certificates (root complete auth chain) for the server in the portfolio of Oracle for this server - with the generated SSL certificate request, signed by a root authority?
To see the server tcp listener endpoints, use the netstat command. Enable SQL * Net follow-up on the side of the listener if you need to trace and debug connections to the listener. Activate too on the client side if you need to trace the calls from the client to the listener.

error: "an operation was attempted on something that is not a socket"
Suddenly, I have no connection to my pc which is connected directly to my d-link cable. Other computers that use wireless have no problem. My system shows "the network has not assigned a network address of the computer"... then I tried, by messages on this site, to run cmd and ipconfig/renew and ipconfig/release. After renew, I get an error "an operation was attempted on something that is not a socket".
ideas?Hi sdams,
1. did you of recent changes on the computer?
2. do you have security software installed on the computer?
This error would occur if the Winsock registry keys are damaged or corrupted.
Refer to the article below and reset the Winsock settings to default and see if it helps.

Cannot make connection HTTp. Winsock reset necessary. Tried the Fix - it!
Hello
We are running Windows XP SP3.
These days, Internet explorer will not display the page (other browsers do not work either!). Antivirus programs can update and Skype works so I know we have a connectivity.
I tried the troubleshooting thing that provides Internet Explorer and it says to a Winsock reset. I downloaded Microsoft Fix - it 50203 with another computer on a CD and ran it, but it has not solved the problem. Network Diagnostics also said that it is successfully connected to www.microsoft.com andFTP.Microsoft.comsite, but under HTTP it says there is an error 12029 connecting towww.microsoft.com and that he could not make an HTTP connection. System Restore does not work for some reason any.
What should I do now? Any help is appreciated!
Another thing, I have to add is that we did a scan for malware and it found several Trojan horses that have been deleted but unfortunately it did not help!
The sound of symptoms as some ports are allowed to pass through (Skype probably uses a single port and updates Antivirus probably use FTP (port 21)), while the other ports are not allowed to pass. See if you can connect to https:// sites. This symptom can occur from a few sources. One is a firewall. Check your firewall settings and make sure that there are no blocks on http: Protocol (port 80). Another is filtering TCP/IP you can set on your network card. Even if the following article indicates to Windows 2000, it seems to apply as well for XP. Make sure that there is no check in the box for "enable TCP/IP filtering:
"How to configure filtering in Windows 2000 TCP/IP.

All stuck in 169.254.106.192 network adapters IP address help!
Hello
I tried everything to fix this.
First of all it is just the wireless card for my laptop that got the question, so I went to an Ethernet directly between a router and that possessed the same auto config ip. Then, I used my tp link TL-WN722N usb wireless adapter and it worked fine until today. Wi - Fi points are not stored in manage wireless networks since I can't access Internet and sometimes I can't even connect to them. Those can connect to stay in the "unidentified network". First I tried to manually release and renew the ip address in the cmd with no luck, it is said that it is impossible given that the media is disconnected or a timeout error when the survivor crashes just there for a few minutes. I am 100% positive, that this is a problem with the computer and not the access points as I traveled the past few days and it worked very well the first days of my trip. First, when this happened, I let windows troubleshoot it and automatically, he knew that there was an invalid ip configuration and fixed it himself. Now he recognizes that it is the same problem, but "has not set" next to him and don't let not the dhcp on the network assign the ip address. I tried manually as well as on all NICs IPv4 static addresses and nothing works. I think that it is the cause of a new update of windows... I am running windows 7 Enterprise on a dell latitude e6400.
I just need to reset the IP address and it keeps auto configuration EVEN when it is connected to a network. It drives me crazy. Help, please
IP address with 169.254.xxx.xxx means that the DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) delivery is affected. The DHCP server to allocate IP address to computers, to the local IP in your case.
There are three chances for the problem to occur:
1 wired AutoConfig (for wired connectivity) or autoconfiguration WLAN (for wireless connectivity) service is not running.
2. bad network resources on the network configuration.
3 cable bad network.
Solutions:
1. the following link will be very useful to start the Wired AutoConfig service (find the WLAN auto configuration service in the same list and repeat the process involved in from depending on the link):
http://computerstepbystep.com/wired_autoconfig_service.html
2. the following link will be useful by resetting the TCP/IP settings. Make sure that the options are set to automatic:
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows/change-TCP-IP-settings#1TC=Windows-7
3. check with another ethernet/network cable. In addition, check the power cable in some other computer for the work of the cable. Try to replace the cable, then check.

Connecting to the wrong wireless network.
Nope. Tried to make this process a few times just to make sure that I was just doing and still it connects to the wrong network. Something else I could try?
I'm in the boat the same, did you ever get a resolution on this?

Here are some solutions to try if you can't connect to Wi - Fi. Follow the below mentioned steps to solve the problem:
1 remove the network and let Windows re - find. Then enter the password again.
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-in/Windows-8/get-online-tutorial
2. change the TCP/IP settings, if the IP address is set to manual

ORA-12545 alert.log anti spam
Hello
Windows 2008 server x 64
Oracle 11.2.0.3 x 64
Client reported the response time very slow with the database; especially with the initial connection to the database. STATSPACK reports do not seem to show anything unusual. What is good, and it may or may have an effect on the performance of the connection, is an abundant amount of ORA-12545 error in the alert.log from the database server, so much so that since May 1st the alert.log won 300 MB in size for this single error! Precise moments show messages in the listener.log but this newspaper does not provide any error and said just that the connection has a flag "establish".
Couple questions
- Within the messages it says "Tracing not lit not." - which trace must be activated and how I can further debug?
- When the search for the error number, it seems that this message should be on the client side and not in the alert.log to database. This makes me believe that perhaps the database trying to make connections to some other db or similar and generates this error because the tnsnames.ora servers cannot be configured for such connection. My premise is false?
Here is the full error:

In general, you now know which pollute the file alert_SID.log
This is the code that runs on the Server DB that tries to access a remote database & fails.
Oracle DB is the victim; not the culprit.

Thanks for the help
PS: On the same linux server we have a similar system (11.5.10 AP and 9.2.0.6 DB) and we can communicate easily by the same post of the user. This worked before? If so, what changes have been made recently?
You are able to connect from any computer?
I suggest that you turn on track to gather more information about the error.

Can someone tell me if there is a way of:
(1) check and change the size of the heap in nt service?
(2) in multi server mode, there are two services nt for weblogic
areas, is it necessary to change the chunk size for weblogicAdmin service for
heap size increase? What will happen if PIA is 1024MB size of the heap and
weblogicAdmin is 256 MB?
Thanks for advance/TNicolas, test show that the nt service once installed, change a lot
size in setenv.cmd and execution setenv.cmd file reinstall nt service does not work
change the size of the heap already in the registry. Thus, the test shows that I can
change the size of the heap directly in the registry and restart the service. I'm doing something wrong here... can I correct and only change and existing heap size in
Registry?
Please let me know what should I do when the pile of old
size in already in the registry and not on the job new size when reinstalled NT service.Another question, since a long time the weblogic tuning, I found the following site of bea. During rush hour, we have 40000 unique visitors per day. I should also increase maxUserPort? Weblogic domains are hosted on windows 2003 servers.
Adjust Windows settings
For Windows platforms, the default settings are usually sufficient. However, under heavy enough loads, it may be necessary to adjust the MaxUserPort and TcpTimedWaitDelay. These settings determine the availability of ports required by an application user.By default, ephemeral (that is, short-lived) ports are allocated between the values of 1024 and 5000 included using the MaxUserPort parameter. The TcpTimedWaitDelay setting, which controls the amount of time the operating system expects to recover a port after an application closes a TCP connection, has a default value of 4 minutes. During heavy loads, these limits may be exceeded, leading to an address in use: connect the exception. If you have the address in use: connect, try exceptions affect the values of registry MaxUserPort and TcpTimedWaitDelay under the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters key:
MaxUserPort = dword:00004e20 (20 000 decimal)
TcpTimedWaitDelay = (30 decimal) dword:0000001eIncrease the value of the MaxUserPort setting if the exception continues.

Set the initial (Initcwnd) TCP Congestion window
For a Windows Server 2008 (not R2) I would like to set the TCP Initial Congestion window size. It would be similar to what could be done with R2 in this KB, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2472264. In any case to display this value?
Thank you.
