  I recently installed Windows 7 ultimate on a PC under Vista Basic.  I have done this as a clean install, wipe the existing partitions and create a new one for the installation.

PC worked perfectly in the morning, I downloaded the update to 32 MB and the installation process seems to be okay, but I couldn't get past the Windows 7 login screen after booting. Kept, get a blank screen. Even tried to start safe mode, but got the same answer. Later, I used the F8 key at startup and selected the last restore point that was created a week ago.   No matter what I do, or what Intel drivers version I am using Windows 7 Ultimate (x 64) will not load iaStor.sys (or it is native msahci also).  The only way I can get windows 7 to install is to configure the BIOS for Enhanced IDE; what I am able to install msahci after Intel AHCI drivers through a reg hack and a few reboots
  The installer written in that drivers are not compatible; to contact the vendor for a newer version - I use are compatable last, Intel for Windows 7 RTW. I have no problem whatsoever with Windows XP (x 64)
  He simply refuses to recognize AHCI mode during a new installation!
  BIOS is the latest version and updates module IMSM.
