Yes, you can, you will probably need to reactivate by telephone on the new computer:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

    (3) select your "country" in the list.

    (4) choose the option "activate phone".

    (5) stay on the phone (do not select/press all options) and wait for a person to help you with the activation.

  • I bought windows 7 ultimate retail version, but my computer recognizes it as OEM version.

    Hello

As I wrote, my computer recognized new window 7 ultimate retail.

    Is this possible?

and MS CS said it's the OEM pre-installed version, but I just installed with the new computer.

    I don't understand how that's possible.

I just click that activation then she recognized as OEM.

    sample number is lower.

    *****-OEM-*******-*****

    This means OEM?

and I tried to download windows 7 to make it bootable USB, but it has an error that this key is pre-installed key. So I need to contact the manufacturer. But my computer is assembled by myself.

    How is that possible?

    Someone had the same problem?

    Thank you.

Looks like you might have bought an OEM System Builder License.

Because Windows 7 is in limited stock because Microsoft ended sales in October 2013, this created demand due to its rarity. This means the retail boxed copies request a bonus, while the OEM System Builder copies remain affordable.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

There is nothing wrong to use it too, especially that all future versions of Windows will be full versions.

Please run the Microsoft Genuine Diagnostics Tool then copy and paste the results into an answer here for further analysis:

If I buy a new laptop, with Windows 8 is installed, can I use this Windows 7 Ultimate retail disk, to format the new laptop and install Windows 7?

David, you need to use the phone activation to reactivate on your new laptop:

  • Do I have to re install Windows 7 Ultimate Retail Version over the current version of Windows 7 Ultimate OEM "Trial"?

I have an old PC which worked fine with Windows XP on it. I wanted to continue to consider using it with Windows 7 (instead of buying a new machine).

So my friend gave me a copy of the version of Windows 7 Ultimate (OEM) to try to see if the machine was worth keeping (i.e. good performance with my critical apps loaded on this subject).  Using this version, I was able to switch from Windows XP to Windows 7 using a clean installation. I have re-installed critical applications to check performance with the new operating system.  I was impressed (and happy) so I decided to purchase a licensed copy of Windows 7 Ultimate. I finally found a great offer and bought a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate (Full/Retail - not OEM) with the required activation key via the Internet (to be delivered next week).

My question is: since I now have the version of Windows 7 Ultimate (OEM) already installed on my machine, I will have to perform another clean installation when my Windows 7 Ultimate retail version coming? I would really not all over again. I would like to simply enter the Activation Code of the version of Windows 7 Ultimate (Full-detail) when it arrives. What is the best way to reach my goal?

  • Authenticity of used / second-hand copy of Windows 7 Ultimate retail

Greetings.  So, I wanted to buy a legitimate copy of Windows 7 Ultimate retail.  It seems that it is no longer available new, leaving me to buy a copy of used / pre-owned.  (Are BTW there other options?)

I found a seller in private through the Amazon and looked as close as possible to the Internet. all the evidence strongly suggests that it is a reliable seller with an established reputation, a copy in good faith used the marketing software.  So I paid a reasonable price and received the product, including complete packaging that you would expect to find in a store, with all the certificates and product keys and hologrammed DVD and everything else looking as it should.

This morning, I installed the Win7 and activated the installation with the key of product without any difficulty.  Then I found some verification page somewhere in "authentic" microsoft.com, I don't remember the URL exactly right now, but it downloads a few small .exe, whereupon the reports page entirely installation that it is authentic.

Then I found the utility to produce the report "diagnosis." the content of this I'm going to paste below down.  The "292" in the product ID seems not to be a MSDN key, as I see it frequently reported here; can anyone confirm that these figures correspond to a retail copy bought in the United States through normal legitimate channels?

I saw very many reports of MSDN product keys sold with retail packing counterfeit, but this doesn't seem to be what I have?

Also, I've seen no reports of normal retail licenses copied or sold several times, so it does not seem likely to me?

Anyone got any comments on that?  I am in the window where I could return this software for a refund, but I see no evidence that this copy is far from authentic and legitimate.

Is it possible to call Microsoft and have them give no explanation as to how many times a certain license had been activated before?

All advice and information is welcome!

    Thank you-

  • The upgrade of Windows 7 Pro OEM of Windows 7 Ultimate retail

My PC is custom built and delivered with Windows 7 Pro OEM installed.  I want to install Windows 7 Ultimate in order to obtain several language and BitLocker.  I know that in a few months, I'll change this PC motherboard (motherboard).

I know that with the OEM, the product key of Windows 7 license is attached to the motherboard.  So when I change, Win 7 Pro license will be lost.  Since I want to be able to transfer the license of Windows 7 to one MOBO to another, I bought a full commercial version of ultimate.

My question is this.  To upgrade the Pro OEM ultimate retail, it's just a matter of changing the product key on the screen of the system property and the new product key will launch the installation of missing features to Windows 7 Pro?

    You must use Anytime Upgrade.

Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, follow the on-screen Wizard, enter the key of Windows 7 ultimate on demand, click on, and then restart your computer when you are prompted. Less than 10 minutes, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate and your files and settings retained.

Releasing it's easy: with Windows | ActiveWin | Laptops | Microsoft MVP

  • General information about licensing of the "Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate, Version full (PC DVD)"

    Hello

I've never had to buy a Windows DVD facility before so my questions may seem a bit Basic.

I intend to buy a copy of 'Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate', full Version (PC DVD) from Amazon. (I think I should be clear of a counterfeit product, if I buy direct from Amazon).

Am I right in thinking that if I buy this product so I can install it on several PC as long as I have installed it on more than one PC at a time?

Really I intend to install first to my current PC, familiarize yourself with Windows 7 and then, finally, just abandon my old PC, buy a new and then install Windows 7 on this new PC. Is it possible for me to do it without breaking the terms of licenses for this product?

Finally, (assuming I have reason to think that it is normal to do so) is there something I should do that I could not be aware of the transfer Windows 7 from my old PC to a new? I think I mean it's OK to me to erase the hard drive from the old PC before binning - and which supports Windows 7, having already been installed on this PC?

You shouldn't have a problem if his continuous from Amazon.

As long as Windows 7 is installed on one PC at a time, Yes, you can uninstall it from the computer you install it 1st on and re - install on another PC.

Really I intend to install first to my current PC, familiarize yourself with Windows 7 and then, finally, just abandon my old PC, buy a new and then install Windows 7 on this new PC. Is it possible for me to do it without breaking the terms of licenses for this product?

Before abandon you the old PC, delete the Windows 7 partition and you will not have a license problem.

Freeing your product key for use on the new PC, but because the key has already been used once (your 1st PC / old), you need to activate by phone after installing it on the new PC.

  • Reinstalling windows 7 ultimate retail after changing the SSD, the motherboard and the processor. I'm having a problem with the reactivation?

I'll upgrade my desktop PC, by changing the motherboard, processor and SSD drive with the OS on it to boot. I have a problem with the reactivation of windows, and should I turn it off, somehow first, or the previous version will be considered as-enabled automatically? Just reactivate by phone:

How to activate Windows 7 manually (activate by phone)

    1) click Start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    (2) press the ENTER"" key.

Remember, if it is a retail upgrade license:

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

You can skip to enter the product key and try the activation of the phone to work around this problem.

  • Windows 7 Ultimate x 64 full retail package

    Hello

I'm looking for the full package of retail of Windows 7 Ultimate x 64, only through official channels, but I can't seem to find more. I prefer the English version, that's why I was looking GLC-00181, but if I would be able to get the Dutch version, I would say it is better than full retail no package at all. Heck, I would even step to Windows 7 Professional x 64 if I really had to.

The question I have is this: I can always buy the full Package of retail (NL = handig pakket) through official channels, either from Microsoft or in one of the many stores in the Netherlands computer directly?

    I'll wait for answers.

    * Because I couldn't find anything related to sales in the subject category selection field, I took the one that seems to have as close as possible to my 'problem '. *

Where can I still get Windows 7?

    Full version-

    Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

    Full version-

    Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate

  • Can I turn off a full Windows 7 (Ultimate) key so I can use it on my new PC?

    Hello

I sought an answer to my question, but I can't quite find yet. I'm going to buy Windows 7 Ultimate Edition full retail to upgrade my Vista Home Premium PC current. But I was wondering if I could disable the key on my current PC, when I buy a new PC running next year so that I can use it on this one. I would only use it on 1 PC at a time, but I don't know if a retail license allows for it.

Must answer this question elsewhere already, please refer me to it and did not hesitate to remove this post and I thank you in advance for your answer!

P.S. English is my third language (I am from the Belgium) and it's not so much legalese, please try to explain it to me gently.

There is no deactivation, but you can install it on your new PC when you get it, as LONG as you format the hard drive on the old PC (and reinstall Vista Home Premium).  It is the joy of retail vs OEM.  With OEM, it is "related" to the first PC, you install and activate in the.

  • I have Windows 7 Ultimate 32 - bit (Home Premium update) and I want to re - install Windows but in 64-bit. Will I still have Ultimate

I have a Toshiba with Windows 7 Ultimate 32 - bit (Home Premium update) and I want to re - install Windows but in 64-bit. Will I still have Ultimate?

I'm going to re - install from 32 to 64-bit via the loader of windows recovery.
This computer has asked ma to install 32 or 64 bit when I first turned on, I chose 32, but now I want to 64.

It depends on. Is the license of Windows 7 Ultimate, a full version license or upgrade, or upgrade Express?

If its an Express upgrade license, you will need to reinstall Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, then make the Express Windows 7 upgrade Ultimate edition using the Express upgrade key, you have.

If you have a Windows 7 Ultimate full retail or upgrade version license, you can simply by using the 64-bit Windows 7 Ultimate disc and do a custom Setup on the current installation of 32-bit.

You will need to do a clean install, there is no place on the way to upgrade Windows 7 32 bit to 64 bit.

Using the disk of 64-bit Windows 7, install Windows 7 Windows Easy Transfer Utility from the DVD (to find it, simply navigate to x:\support\migwiz, "x:" is the name of your hard drive. (In this case, you will see a collection of files, the important"that you must search for and double-click is 'migsetup'.) run it and create a DAMP (Windows Easy Transfer file), if you have an external hard drive, you can access it later when you perform a clean install of Windows 7 64-bit disk so you can stored there.

Once you have done this, just do a clean install of Windows 7 64 bit disc. In Windows 7 64 bit disk, start Windows Easy Transfer, follow the wizard screen, tap on which is stored the WET file (external hard drive) and it will restore your personal files and settings. Reinstall the applications needed.

Boot from the DVD 64 bit Windows 7
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.
