USB mouse & keyboard freeze - only solution Hard reset

My system hangs at 6 times a day - Grrrrr.   The USB mouse and keyboard become completely insensitive - hard reset only solution.

In case the Viewer, I see a red error icon ID10 WMI event with the text telling me...

Filter event with the query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA 'Win32_Processor' AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace '//./root/CIMV2' because of error 0 x 80041003.» Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is resolved.

I'm running a motheboard Foxconn ATX with chipset i5 intel, 12 GB RAM, card Matrox Quad M9148 graphics, 120 GB SSD and 650 GB Seagate drive spinning.  OS is W7 Home Premium 64-bit.  The problem seems to arise with several windows open and I wonder if it has nothing to do with IE.  I get this problem since a few weeks ago, I built the machine after my Acer motheboard destroyed car.  A couple of days, I replaced IE8 with IE9, hoping it would make a differnce but he did not.

Can someone help me with this issue please?

A upadate with what seems to have solved the problem - although a little late...

The problem seemed to relate to IE9 and in particular Web sites using flash (I think)
For example call graphs of the stock on www.igmarkets.co.uk or watching live video feeds on CNBC or Reuters would cause the machine to freeze.  Sometimes I would get a blue screen telling me it's 'security preparation options' that could only be cleared by a power reset.  Well, I seem to have solved the problem, or got around him at least... I installed Google Chrome and (fingers crossed) everything seems to work fine - I've not had a crash for more than two weeks now.  I will update if anything changes.
Safe mode startup mode minimum etc. etc. is a bit beyond me.  For example, after following some instructions on the internet on the topic where to find a log file that records what is happening as a machine going AWOL, I got in the folder and open the file, but it was not exactly written in plain language and what am I supposed to do with it?
Thank you very much for all the help - much appreciated

  • USB mouse & keyboard stop working after the upgrade of Intel generic drivers drivers!

Original Post: USB mouse & keyboard stop working after upgrade to generic drivers

After you install Windows, the Generic USB controller drivers are installed. My mouse & keyboard as planned work & that are each recognized as "compatible mouse/keyboard HID."

After I installed the Intel drivers for root USB controller, the mouse & keyboard stop working and are classified as unknown. Shortly after, they are considered HP USB Optical Mouse & HP USB Standard keyboard, however the drivers never properly install and they remain under unknown devices with a yellow exclamation point.

I have searched high & low for these device drivers, they do not exist. I installed the drivers for all of the materials appearing on the site of the seller. This has happened on several computers, laptops and desktop computers.

I've done all the troubleshooting I can think. Uninstalled all the controllers/USB hubs & restarted. Switched USB ports, I tried new mouse & keyboard, wanted Windows updates.

The only way I can make it work is if I use the generic Windows drivers, who then recognized the mouse & KB "HID compliant". It seems that if I install Intel drivers, it recognizes the mouse & keyboard more in detail and he wants specific drivers to continue.

Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks for the reply.

  • Windows 7 64-bit USB mouse randomly freezing

    Hello

My Microsoft Wireless Natural Ergonomic Keyboard and Mouse 7000 freeze randomly.

    OS: Windows 7 64-bit

    Drivers: Latest IntelliPoint IntelliType

Latest drivers for p6x58D premium mobo and all Intel chipset drivers USB installed. All the drivers are up to date.

Several other posters here have the same problem. Their solutions have ranged from:

    (1) disable USB (tried without success) power management

    (2) updated drivers (fact) (fact) windows update

    (3) use the usb mouse not (not an option)

    (4) time of DPC latency (not verified, no problems)

Uninstalling drivers USB Root Hub 5), reboot to reinstall (does not work)

The only thing I have left to suspect, is that I had to plug the mouse/keyboard before installing intellipoint/intellitype for the first time. As I built the system from scratch and have no other key/mouse, I need something to click/press to do the installation of windows and intellipoint/intellitype. Yes, the instructions on the set of microsoft to install software first of all that's probably the source of the problem? Should I track down a PS/2 mouse, reinstall all the drivers for mouse/USB?

    Any other suggestions?

    Hey Chris,

I found the source of my problem. As others have suggested, wireless interference are the problem. :(

However, before the test of this theory, I removed all the neighbours of the wireless devices, (not a microwave nearby) and moved the mouse right next to the receiver which was attached to my desktop, but it has not solved the problem. This leads me to believe that the issue is not reached. After all, if the mouse is 3 inches of the receiver and still problems...

However, after reading around online, I found a place that mentioned that large metal objects can interfere with signal as well. Then it dawned on me that my entire computer chassis was made of steel. It is not a plastic case, rather a metal.

I purchased a USB extension cable and kept the receiver for the mouse wireless of the case, and all the Frost took to occur! :)

Thanks for all your help, Chris, Debra and Curry!

  • USB mouse disabled / freezes on switch or on-screen user screen once I disconnect

So just like the topic says my USB mouse is disabled and the cursor hangs in the middle of the screen after selecting "change user" or "quit".

I want to emphasize that the keyboard works very well and the issue seems to be the mouse only.

Things, I already tried to do and failed:

Connect the mouse to a usb 2.0 port - tried but the problem persists.

verification of updates of driver to make sure that everything is up to date - done via windows update, everything is up-to-date

    It is not the drivers.

It's quite annoying so I really need to get this one solved.

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description, I understand that your mouse freezes.

This could be due to hardware conflicts.

I first suggest you to run the tool and troubleshooting hardware devices and check.

    Hi all

Randomly, after the Windows 7 login Panel, windows disables my keyboard and USB mouse.

However the advice provided to change the config to disable these judgments do not work...

Have you tried to go to safe mode with networking Mode and update your USB drivers?

You didn't say you had the problem goes mode without failure, so it might be a solution for you.

USB drivers should be found at the web page of the manufacturer of your computer or your motherboard manufacturer's web page.

  • External keyboard works only after the restart with Port Replicator III Plus

The problem is that when I start the laptop, the external PS/2 keyboard does not work. When I reboot keyboard this one turns around and then I can use it.

This problem occurs on a laptop Toshiba Tecra with an Advanced Port Replicator III Plus. I used several keyboards, so this isn't the problem. I changed a value in the bios which is used for devices USB (mouse/keyboard). I disabled the option, because I use a keyboard and a PS/2 mouse, but the problem is not resolved. I hope someone has an answer to this problem.

    Hello

It will be interesting to know what model Tecra you use. Is it perhaps Tecra A6?

  • Why my (wired) laser mouse keeps freezing every 2-5 seconds and then turns off?

I use Windows XP Professional SP3, and my (Genius NetScroll G500, USB) mouse keeps freezing every 2-5 seconds, until he "dies" (I can't move or something, it's like off). Sometimes, it works normally, sometimes doesn't. I don't really know what causes to keep freezing. This problem does not occur on Linux for now. I download the new updates, but I do not expect any kind of positive results, so please do not respond with driver update. Could you please tell me what to do to fix it properly? Note that the mouse is brand new, bought today.

EDIT: It seems that Safe Mode fails.

    Hello

I suggest you to connect the mouse to another computer if possible, and check if the same problem occurs, this is just to check if it is the problem with the mouse.

  • OEM usb mouse and usb keyboard Freeze, disconnect automatically w/eject Sound

I have a 2.5 year old Dell XPS 8300 Windows 7 PC. Mouse usb from the factory and start of keyboard to eject and re - insert (Windows systems "thumb-thump" sounds) and its own without any intervention on my part. Initially it just, just momentarily freezes for a second, but it could be anywhere from 20 minutes to several hours and the same thing happens to 3 or 4 times, and finally and at the same time, the mouse and keyboard freeze. The "cursor" or "pointer" on the screen is totally inadmissible, and seizure keyboard is inadmissible. CTRL + Alt + Delete does not work yet.

    A few points:

1 there is no drivers for the wired mouse usb and a keyboard wired usb on page download Dell and Driver for XPS 8700.

2 when I arrived to the Device Manager, it says device keyboard HID and HID - compatible mouse.

    3. There is no drivers to roll back to, and if I update driver for each device, windows tells me I use the latest version of the driver.

    4. I tried a clean install of Windows 7 and it does not solve the problem. (Exaggeration, I know. "I have a lot of time).

    5. I'm tired a clean install of Windows 8.1 and it does not solve the problem. (Again, I know, exaggerated, but I was curious).

    6. in other words, I have exactly the same problem on Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.

    7. I tried to use all the different USB ports on my PC and the same problem persists. I don't think that it's a problem of USB hardware in any case, given that the freezing of the mouse and the keyboard are occurring simultaneously, and each device has its on usb port.

    8. this problem is new in the last month. Never had anything like this in the last 2.5 years.

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi JJ,

Thank you for your update. Much appreciated!

Basically, for Windows 8.1, you will need to update the drivers more recent. So, you need to update the drivers for the chipset from the Dell Web site, and if it does not, you may need to contact the manufacturer for updated versions. Also. Please check in the Device Manager and uninstall the drivers of HID devices (under keyboard) and changes in the Update window to do not to install the updated driver. After uninstalling, restart the computer and then install the drivers for the devices and drivers chipset on the manufacturer's Web site. Check if the problem persists.

Please post back your results for assistance.

  • USB mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped working

My USB connected Microsoft USB Bluetooth mouse and keyboard suddenly stopped working today. After researching everything I could, I didall that I could find as a possible solution that has been:

    • Update of the chipsets
    • Uninstalling usb in Device Manager and reboot devices
    • Updated via Device Manager, usb devices
    • Reformatting and reinstalling Windows 7
    • Stop, unplug and allow the card mother "reset".
    • Try multiple ports
    • There is no 'connect' button on my mouse so I can not sure try this
    • Replace the batteries in my mouse
    • Obviously both devices have been connected
    • Updated the software for the mouse

I have tried literally everything I could think of or read previously and I am out of options. Oddly enough however, after reformatting and reinstalling windows, my USB storage device is found and is working, but the keyboard and mouse are not. Please don't bother not suggest anything I listed above, I obviously already tried and found no chance.

    Update
I have solved my problem. For later use, if anyone has this problem and no other solution seems not work; That's what I did.

I bought a USB 2 ports PCI card and installed in my computer, then go back to Windows XP. While my original front and rear USB ports still recognize a flash drive, they do not recognize the keyboard or USB mouse, make ports PCI card. I had also updated ALL the updates of windows on the site, not the auto update available on the desktop. Although I don't know the cause, I am certain that somewhere, something was is altered by the hardware or software, and my default USB ports do not recognize mouse or keyboards.

Another piece of knowledge in case anyone is interested; I use a card mother gigabyte s-series and my nvidia video card GeForce previously is no longer recognized in the port, it would cause my computer go into a State of hibernation and the monitor would go into "Analog Power Saving Mode". The only solution was to spend a friend with my video card. (Its graphics card is a GeForce 9800 GTX, mine was a GeForce 9800 GT. No reason why it should make a difference.) According to me, even if my computer is less than two years old, I was sold a bad mother. I read online cases in other forums for technical support of people having the same problem. Gigabyte motherboards stop random ports for no known reason.

  • Mounting USB keyboard freezes internal keyboard and trackpad

    Hello world

Spent an hour looking for a solution to this so I hope this isn't a problem of repetition. I am using a wired USB keyboard (DYNEX model No.: DX-WKBDSL) with my MBP end 2011, but whenever I have set and keyboard Setup Assistant appears my internal trackpad immediately stops responding and my internal keyboard sounds fair to me if I tap on a button. This keeps me from hitting continue setting. If I unplug the USB keyboard, I immediately regain control of my internal input devices. Disks hard USB and flash drives cause no problems. I need to be able to use my usb full keyboard, so I have a 10 key. Can someone help me?

I noticed the guys like the thing EtreCheck here so I just ran on my machine (obviously without my keyboard usb attached since that would freeze everything). I hope that helps!

  • Intermittent USB mouse freeze

Problem: The mouse cursor freezes intermittently for 3 to 8 seconds or more.  This happens usually when I click on a web link while I'm browsing the internet, but it can happen also when I am with other applications (or just in the background) at random times.  I use WiFi for my internet connection, and my WiFi connection is often flakey, frequently disconnect and reconnect.  The keyboard and touchpad work very well during these gels.  I've owned my system for 11 months, but this problem only is surface a few months ago.  These gels seem to occur just before that I was notified of a low battery level.

Hardware: Wireless mouse from Logitech G7, Sager NP9262 for laptop, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 processor clocked at 2.66 GHz, dual Nvidia GeForce 8800 M GTX in SLI, 4 GB memory DDR2/800, Intel PRO/Wireless 4965 802.11a/g/n wireless Bluetooth, 3 hard disks, etc.

Software: Logitech SetPoint Control Center 4.72.40 (same driver version), Windows Vista Ultimate 6.0.6001 (64-bit) build 6001 SP1 and all current updates, ZoneAlarm Firewall 8.0.298, AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition 8.5.339, Open Office, Firefox 3.0.11, process Explorer 11.33 3.1.0 SeaMonkey 1.1.16, Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0.2 Nero Home Essentials SE, Spybot Search & Destroy 1.6.2.0 Quicken 2006 Basic version R3 , iTunes 8.2, Left 4 Dead and many other things.

    Tried patches:
    (1) I bought and started using fresh batteries in my mouse G7.  This reduces the number of low battery status notifications, but it has not ruled out all other freezes.
    (2) I found that a lot of reports of similar mouse freezes on the web (for example, http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistahardware/thread/99e3491c-9b60-4cd8-8113-90775600b9a8).  I did find that the bug reports which would be applicable to me.
    (3) a tech suggested I unload the Logitech software and try to run the default Vista drivers.  This did not help.
    (4) I downloaded and installed the latest drivers from the Logitech website.  This did not help either.
    (5) the technology suggests then download the latest driver wireless http://downloadmirror.intel.com/17525/eng/ICS_Dv32.exe, I did.  I ran it, but it doesn't have me showed no results.  I rebooted and found that I still had some freezes.
    (6) I then did a clean boot by following the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/929135.  I got a lot of strange things happen (Firefox does not, for example), but I could up IE7 and through a few web pages.  I've lived several mouse freezes.  Probably, this eliminates outside Vista software as a source of freeze.

Notes: I think that these gels are caused by WiFi, hardware or software (drivers) activity.  Because this problem is surface recently, I doubt that it's a hardware problem.  Find it me more likely that it was caused by a software update, but I don't know exactly when this problem started, or what update could have caused it.

    AlanD2,
Your wireless mouse works on the 2.4 GHz frequency, as do almost all electronic wireless.  It can experience interference of a large number of devices: your LAN card wireless, wireless router, a wireless phone 2.4 GHz, a baby monitor, security camera, a microwave oven, etc.  The list is almost endless.  When you went to the library have not experienced you the problem is probably due to interference with a new device in your House that you can not even be aware has a wireless component or may not be thought of as a possible source of interference.  Do some detective - start noticing exactly when frost occur, how minutes apart, how long it lasts, what time of day, etc.  You should start to see a pattern.  I had people know that similar problems have occurred only when the phone rang or only when the wireless router has been updated of DHCP addresses or only when someone was doing some popcorn for microwave.  I know that sounds crazy, but I ran a business wireless for many years and saw some very strange issues caused by interference.  You said your local wifi has been offline for two days and you haven't seen any interference.  You have a connection WiFi - are you running without wire from your House to a tower that provides your Internet service?  If so, your mouse is getting interference with your wireless radio that communicates with the tower.  And your mouse interferes with your radio, which is causing your wifi service to be flaky.  As I said, I ran an service provider wireless for years and have seen it happen several times.  You will not be able to use a wireless mouse if you use Internet wireless.

  • Intermittent USB mouse freeze on Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Tested with several mice that work fine on other computers.

I am having a frustrating problem where my Wired Optical mouse appears to 'freeze' for 10 seconds on my machine Windows 7 Pro 64-bit. Meanwhile, everything else on the computer works fine, including the keyboard (connected through PS2). The mouse does not seem to lose power because down the red LED stays on. At the end of the freeze period, I hear the sound of Windows to disconnect USB, but there is no error or windows pop-up ads of any kind on the screen.

Some more info about the configuration:

    * Core i7 950 processor
    * 12 GB of RAM
    * Radeon HD4950 video card (or almost)
    * The main SSD drive
    * 2 external powered USB drives, 1 powered MIDI keyboard, 1 USB dongle
    * Windows experience score 7.3

I tried things that did not work:

    • Turn off all the power management, including the management of power supply for USB, USB hubs-> suspend to win power, etc.
    • Permutation of mouse. The problem came with three different mouse from different manufacturers.
    • Try the mouse on different computers of W7 Pro. Confirmed that the mice are not the problem.
    • Disconnected all other USB devices except the mouse. Problem persists.
    • Uninstalled all the drivers for the mouse and use MS default drivers.
    • Installed the software Microsoft mouse & keyboard center.
    • Installed the software from the manufacturer (ie. logitech) specific mouse driver.
    • Tried every USB port, the front and back, on my computer, including USB3 vs USB2.
    • Scanned for malware (using Malwarebytes)
    • Search for viruses (using Nod32)

I must point out that NO other devices are having problems on this computer. My external hard drives all work perfectly. My printer when I plug it, works great, like my USB dongle. My MIDI keyboard never loses connection. Even when I have my phone connected Android, which normally creates a huge noise if I unplug it, never disconnects even for a second. It is therefore clearly a kind of mouse problem.

The problem seems to occur regardless of what I do, although it seems MORE common if I use actually the mouse. If I'm just typing (as I am now) it seems not really to happen. On the other hand, sometimes hours go with no problem and other time it happens literally every few seconds.

Remove the check to "improve the accuracy of the printer" logic. I had two computers windows 7 x 64 that gives me the same problem. When I tried a wireless mouse, the problem disappeared. they do not use the windows controls.

  • Win 7 mouse and keyboard freeze

I watched several discussions in the forum, but I have not seen a real answer to this problem.

I have a wireless comfort 4000 keyboard and mouse wireless laser 5000 (mouse and keyboard). I have a motherboard with the NVIDIA 630i chipset and NVIDIA 8600 video card. I am running Win 7 pro x 64.

a seemingly random times my mouse and keyboard freeze. Tasks appear to always run and my light in on the disk activity. Sometimes, the HARD drive activity light is solid and sometimes it flashes. I used to be able to solve the problem by pressing standby on my keyboard, but this doesn't work anymore. Sometimes the mouse a keyboard will unlock, but most of the time, I have to restart.

I found a reference to KB976972 about NVIDIA USB but it does not solve my problem.

I found a great respect by using a USB mouse instead of a wireless mouse. I don't have a USB mouse, and also if it is a Microsoft wireless mouse problem should fix it.

I found a reference to the removal of KB9980302 to fix the problem.

I saw a reference to the execution of a "clean boot" to see if there is a driver causing the problem.

I saw a method to change the management of the power supply for the USB hubs.

What I didn't know is an answer that everyone says has cured the problem. A lot of people have this problem. Someone from Microsoft can he solve it please?
