Windows 7 update killed my USB port drivers

The latest updates to Windows 7 have closed from 2 of my 3 ports USB on a new laptop computer from HP. I tried a system restore, but that did not work. Now I have to use a mini hub on my port remains one that works to connect several devices. How can I restore my two original USB ports? I check the Device Manager and he tells me that everything works well.

  • Notebook G71-358NR - Windows 7 64 bit - right USB ports not working not

The USB ports on the right works more while the left USB port works.  A right port does not work when a flash drive is connected; the other right port provides a message "USB device not recognized" and get a line of "unknown device" in Device Manager under the expanded Bus USB controllers.  I finished all updates to Windows and HP, verified and updated all the drivers and the USB ports on the right still do not work.

I miss nothing else but to check if the USB connector/cable is firmly attached?  If I have to check this, please provide simple step by step instructions on how to do it because I'm not a techie by any means.

  • Presentation of the wrong usb port drivers

I have a desktop pc and a usb hub 4 ports.  I had a recent problem with one of the ports on the hub, no work and got a replacement warranty of ben.  It seemed to work at first but then I started having a problem when I connected my mp3 player - it has not recognized unless I tried a different port on the hub.  I then took a glance in Device Manager and in universal serial ports, I saw the following: intel ICH9 Family universal host controller (8) - I think that these are the usb ports on the mainframe Office Tower.  Then I see that something called hub Generic USB then a USB device composite (2 of them) and root (8 of them) USB hub.  It seems that 4 of these points of convergence roots belong to the first hub that was returned, and then when I plugged the other replacement 4 hubs root now appear.  Is this cause problems?  If so any recommendations on how to proceed?  Thank you.

What I would probably do is to disconnect the hub and then uninstall ALL showing in Device Manager USB hubs and restart the PC.  When you reconnect the USB hub when the PC restarted, Windows should reinstall the drivers, I hope just for a hub!

OK GUYS - HERE'S THE ANSWER:

For starters, I had the exact problem as OP. I upgraded my windows 7 to Windows 8, about 2 weeks ago, and all of a sudden all 8 of my USB does not work.

I had MS Answerdesk Diagnostics TWICE to try to solve this problem, the last time they said that their agents of level 2 had to work on the computer (but never called).

After looking online for the past 2 WEEKS and no answer final as to really solve this problem, CKnospe option actually worked, but I had to do one thing first:

I was going to install and uninstall the program to see if there is nothing, since HAVE charger didn't appear on the list of population programmes.

There were 3 options after I unpacked and loaded Setup program. Repair, installation and the bottom option was 'DELETE '.

I chose to delete, as I didn't even know the program was on my computer (doesn't appear on the list of population programmes) and he forced a restart.

After the reboot: BOOM, my USB FUNCTION.

Hope that anyone looking for an answer to this tent I've done. I can't express how I am happy with this easy as pie. Seriously joygasm here.

    Peace.

  • 8.1 Windows 64 - bit 3 USB ports not working not

I have a model computer T430s 2352CTO, running Windows 8.1, 64-bit version. Before upgrading Windows 8.0 all drivers have been updated. The USB ports 3 worked properly, in particular an external hard drive of 1 GB running. After the 8.1 update, 3 USB ports work always, but only for about 30 seconds, then the hard drive stops. The power led remains on the hard drive, but it no longer displays in windows Explorer.

In Device Manager, I'm gone to Bus USB-> USB controllers Root Hub-> properties-> (under general it says "this device does not work correctly)-> Power Management-> unchecked the box"allow the computer to turn off this device to save energy. • All USB ports stopped working Windows 7

Windows 7 Pro. All USB ports stopped working.  When I plug a usb card, windows makes the sound as it connects and the card gets power (light).  I see the map appear in disk drives in Device Manager.  The player does not display in windows Explorer or disk management.  In Device Manager, it has an exclamation point and says that the device cannot start.

Strangely, I have a USB keyboard and mouse and they work very well.

It's just the USB drives and chips and SD cards that are not displayed.

    I have:

    Reinstalled the drivers USB MB

Flashed the BIOS with the latest version

Tried to install the older USB drivers

Tried to let windows find the driver.

    Still does not

None of this has helped.  I ended up formatting the HD and reinstall windows from dvd.

This revealed that my USB multicard reader was bad.  When I unplugged the problem disappeared.

  • USB ports power your equipment, but not recognizing devices

I started my pc yesterday (21/02/10) - for the first time since the incident of the blue death screen has resolved on 10/02/10 (see 'recent history of the problem' below). I got a screen that says "volume dirty cleaning in 3 steps" or something like that. Subsequently, the windows starts fine but the USB ports stopped working.

All 3 USB ports are now fueling your equipment (confirmed by my laptop fan) , but none of them give me access to any external devices as my flash drives.

Note: I didn't say "" do not recognize devices "and instead said"give me no access to devices "because when I plug in my flash drive, it is profiled as a material published by ususal Display icon at the bottom right of the taskbar." Of more when I try to eject the material, the flash drive appears as "Kingston Data Traveller". It's simply not let me access the flash player - instead when I click on the flash player icon (drive F :) it asks me to format the drive before using.) But then when I am trying to format it says that "windows cannot format the device."

[Please note that the USB ports are all works perfectly between these two dates.] In addition, I did not any changes, hardware or software, recently. ]

Recent history of problems (might be useful):

I got a blue screen of death problem 2 weeks after I had installed Windows XP updated 09/02/10. I could solve this problem by uninstalling all the following patches: KB978262, KB971468, KB978037, KB975713, KB978251, KB978706, KB977165, KB975560 KB977914. (as suggested in the forum: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/vistawu/thread/73cea559-ebbd-4274-96bc-e292b69f2fd1)

After that I do not start my PC, until yesterday. It is the problem of the USB to start.

make a sfc/scannow, as indicated here that it will reinstall missing and corruption of files http://www.updatexp.com/scannow-sfc.html I also noticed in your answer "dirty volume in 3 steps of cleaning" is you have using a kind of cleansing software registry cleaner etc. Registry cleaners that aren't much good for the most part and they will mess up your computer...
