Windows 7 USB/MIDI Device Complications

Hello, I have a question about how Windows 7 handles the USB/MIDI input.

Recently, I had just bought a new Controller of Keytar USB/MIDI Alesis Vortex and decided to plug it into my computer to run the Software Patch and Virtual Software Instruments that I got with it. But when I opened the Firmware Upgrade for the Vortex and the Patch Editor, he told me that there is no MIDI device connected to the computer. I didn't know what was wrong, because I plugged my USB cable to my Vortex and I changed the USB ports on my computer every time. The Alesis QuickStart Guide said that the device and software are compatible with Windows XP through 8, and the USB/MIDI device should be recognized instantly. Obviously, however, Windows 7 is unable to identify it regardless of the fact that he acknowledges his existence and saves it as a. USB device But no matter how many times I try to change or update the drivers, I can't find any that works.

I would love to see Microsoft troubleshooting guide for this, but hey, they have not. I mean it isn't like this is a periodical problem.

Naturally, as the teenager induced by the hormone that I am, I am quite annoyed I spent $299 on a Keytar, I bought to replace my 3 other synthesizers with "Windows 7 compatibility" which could not be recognized, who has now the exact same problem as before, making it unusable.

Now, I didn't rant and rave and go on a tangent, but this has been an ongoing problem for me several times, as happened with many other people, too. Which brings me to my question:

Is there a way that Windows can release an update to fix this, or is there a driver that can fix it for not only me, but for other schools?

Hello Colin,

I apologize for the late response.

I would like to inform that you must contct the manufacturer for updated firmware Alesis

  • Problem of MIDI device USB on windows 7

Hi, I have a HP laptop with windows 7 64 bit installed. I recently bought an Akai LPK25 MIDI keyboard, it is described as being plug-and-play with any other required driver software. However when windows detects the device and tries to install it comes up with an error and the device does not work. I searched other sites and there are other people who have this problem with all kinds of USB MIDI keyboards. You have any suggestions on how to fix this?

OK well the good news, for me at least, is that I returned my pc to factory settings and my small LPK25 now works again. I installed all the updates of security of Microsoft and it still works. So far so good. I have to just be very careful in the future.

Restore your pc to factory settings is actually very easy

    -Click Start

    - Then the area search for the background type "recovery".

    -Click recovery option

    -Click Advanced recovery methods

-then click 'restore your computer to factory option' and follow the options

Make sure that you have backed up all the data you need because the C: drive will be completely erased and it will be exactly as if it were when you come to buy the laptop.

Moreover, what error message do you receive?

With regard to my music (if you can call it that), it's mostly dance music. I downloaded 1 track on youtube if you are really bored and curious www.youtube.com/watch?v=Eq_2mxtZBrU

  • The release of Windows 7 MIDI device selection

I'm an active musician, who has recently made the switch from XP to Windows 7, Vista to jump.  I connected my Edirol UM-1 and drivers installed successfully.  The interface works very well in my DAW software, but I also like having WMP using the UM-1 as the default MIDI output device.  When I went to the control panel to make this choice, I discovered that it lacked the MIDI device section completely.

There are several threads on this topic in the forums of Vista, but I did find many discussions on this topic in the Windows 7 forum.  The fact that this problem remains of Vista to Windows 7 doesn't give me much hope that a solution will come from Microsoft.

My questions: is there a solution to this problem that doesn't involve registry or questionable downloads hacks? Or someone had succeeded in Windows 7 using Registry hacks or software patches.

Hi again well Don I found where you made your mistake! You not change the registry to the right place. You must go to the directory or the DEFAULT folder of MIDI DEVICES. \Default HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\ActiveMovie\devenum\ {4EFE2452-168A-11D1-BC76-00C04FB9453B} MidiOut device

You go to the directory in the same 4EFE2452-168A-11D1-BC76-00C04FB9453B, but you change Tascam US122mk2 and synthesizer Wavetable Microsoft DO NOT EDIT THESE FILES directories. You MUST GO IN THE DEFAULT DIRECTORY of MIDI DEVICE! You should also re edit the device two Tascam and MS WAvetable directories to zero initial for Wavetable and 1 for tascam. Can change the DEFAULT directory of MIDI to zero in the case of edge DEVICES or 1 for USB. A simple mistake that cost you a few follicles ;-)  Terry

  • Windows has stopped this device (USB 2.0 Flash Disk) because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

I have USB 2.0 Flash Disk of Orchid do. This device worked perfectly until I downloaded from MS Download Center "Microsoft USB Flash Drive Manager" and tried to install this. Although the program has not installed message stating that "this program is not applicable for the Version of Windows installed on your computer", but it made my flash drive stop working after the installation fails. Now, I always get error message this device driver was not successfully installed (USB device not recognized) and your USB device has malfunctioned or Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems (Code 43). In the Device Manager under USB controllers, the device is listed as "unknown device". I tried most of the methods described in the forum, but so far none of them has proved to be successful. I will ask members of the forum of good want to let me know if my device itself has developed some defect (hardware failure) or is - having something to do with driver has been corrupted (software compatibility problem) and if so what is the corrective treatment / necessary rectification. Furthermore, I must say here that I am running Windows 7 RC OS version on my computer. Thank you best regards &.

    Hello

Sounds like hardware and you cannot resolve hardware with the software. Check with the system
Manufacturer of support, their books online, the diagnosis and ask in their forums (if
There are). Or check with a real computer store (one who does on its own in-store service
This brand and model of laptop).

Remember that you can not resolve hardware with the software.

    Troubleshooting you can try:
