Unknown device I have Device Manager after upgrade to Windows 7 (dv7-2114eo - CNF9315MTN)
I'm really satisfied with my newly acquired HP Pavilion dv7-2114eo (read my review here; ( http://abokevin.com). As soon as I got it I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate (x 64) on it. I used HPs driver for this model page and installed all the software and drivers available. After completing the upgrade process, I always had an unknown device in Device Manager. In the properties of the device, the device hardware ID is listed as ACPI/HPQ0004 and * HPQ0004.
Do you know all the drivers available that will allow this unit correctly? If not, do you know if HP will provide drivers for this device (coming soon) What is this device?

Missing Midi device or Wavetable preferred in Windows 7?
What is reason for Microsoft to prevent users to use their own lunch or Wavetable device in Windows 7?
We know?
They do you plan on solving this problem soon?
The current Wavetable in Windows 7 is so bad, I can't even inspired to create or write any new music to use it.
And I know that I am not alone in this.
Hello
There are limits when it's noon in Windows 7. The ability to choose different hardware or software MIDI synthesizer other than the default Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth has been removed from the audio setup on Windows 7 user interface. In short, Windows 7 is not the Midi mapper as previous versions of Windows, but it is always included.
You may need to download the third party software for the synthesis. You can use your favorite search engine and search for Windows 7 compatible synthesizer.
Note: software use of third parties, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.Kind regards

built-in webcam not found in the Device Manager, Samsung r710 laptop, windows 7
I have a laptop Samsung R710, who settled with Windows 7. The laptop came with a built-in webcam. I was not able to get a piece of software to recognize the camera. I did a system restore. Updated the drivers. Visited the Samsung website for updates. When I opened the Device Manager to see the drivers for the webcam, webcam not found in Device Manager.
Any help to fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, I must admit to thinking in the same direction you... buy a separate camera or wait until he is more under warranty and have a quick look at the wiring around the hinge.

I also tried the regedit solution, but I have no upper or lower filters...
I use a hp dv6815nr! Help, please!
Very respectfully,.
GK07
I thought I had posted the solution. The upper and lower filters need to be refreshed. Here is a solution I found on the Adobe forums. http://kb2.Adobe.com/CPS/402/kb402306.html
Refresh the CD and DVD drivers list in the Windows registry.
Warning: The registry contains information on the system that are critical to your computer and applications. Before editing the registry, be sure to make a backup of it. Adobe does not provide support for problems that result from incorrectly modifying the registry. Adobe strongly recommends that you have experience editing system files before you modify the registry. For more information on the Windows Registry Editor, see the Windows documentation or contact Microsoft Technical Support.
To refresh the CD and DVD drivers list in the Windows registry:
Important: After you refresh the list of drivers in the Windows registry, you may need to reinstall any other CD or DVD on your computer to write applications. If you restart Windows after this procedure and other burning CD or DVD applications do not recognize the CD or DVD drive, and then reinstall those applications.
- Uninstall your Adobe application.
- Open the Registry Editor:
- On Windows 2000 and XP: click Start > run. Type regedit in the box text open, and then click OK.
- On Windows Vista: Click Start. Type regedit in the search text box, and then press ENTER.
- In the left pane of the registry editor, navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class and select the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} key, which appears as a folder.
- Select file > export (Windows XP and Vista) or registry > export a file from the registry (Windows 2000).
- In the export registry file dialog box, select the branch selected under export range, name the file (for example, CDDVDkey.reg) and click Save to save the file to the desktop.
- In the Panel to the right of the registry editor, select the LowerFilters line, and then choose the editing command > delete. Click Yes in the dialog box confirm deleting key.
- Select the UpperFilters line, and then choose the editing command > delete. Click Yes in the dialog box confirm deleting key.
- Close the registry editor.
- Open the Device Manager:
- On Windows 2000 and XP: click Start > Control Panel. Double-click the system icon, click the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
- On Windows Vista: Click Start > Control Panel, double-click System, and then click Device Manager in the task pane.
- Click on the symbol more then to CD-ROM/DVD-ROM drives.
- For each listed DVD-ROM or CD-ROM drive, select the icon then choose Action > uninstall.
- Restart Windows.
- Windows will automatically detect and reinstall your CD-ROM or DVD - ROM drives. You can check that the drives are installed in the device (see step 9) Manager. If the drives are not present, open Device Manager and choose Actions > Scan for hardware changes.
- Reinstall your Adobe application.
- Restart Windows.
Important: If this solution doesn't solve the problem with the application you reinstalled, then you must restore the CD and DVD drivers list in the Windows registry.
To restore the exported CD and DVD drivers list:
- Double-click the registry key that you exported.
- Close the registry editor.
Restart Windows.

Wireless hidden in Device Manager drivers
Hello
Wireless driver of my computer is not visible in the list of devices in Device Manager. If I go to the view and show hidden devices was able to see the wireless card listed but its faded. Not able to find my wireless network and sharing Center > change map settings. Not even able to connect to internet using wireless.
Things I tried to do mine.
(1) power to flee
(2) load default BIOS
(3) flashed the BIOS
(4) update the wireless drivers(5) has been the restoration of the system to point when wireless was active
(6) formatting the computer using my restore System Image
Still no go.
I don't know the last resort is to replace the wireless card but I just want to ask the community is there anything else I could do to. and also is it possible to map wireless device manager.
using Windows 8, 64 bits

Thank you
Hi Slim,
Thanks for the reply.
Follow the steps below.
(a) first of all, open the Start Menu and right-click on computer and select Properties.
(b) in the left pane, click Advanced system settings, and then click environmentvariables. Alternatively, simply open the control panel and type of Environment Variables.
(c) now in the box user variables, click New, and then type
devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices
(d) in the name text box of the Variable & 1 in the Variable value box. This will outline a flag to allow you to now view unused devices.
(e) now type devmgmt.msc in start search and press ENTER to open the Device Manager.
(f) on the view tab and select Show devices. Expand the branches in the tree of devices & look for the faded icon. They indicate unused device drivers.

4 "other unknown devices" in Device Manager. Windows 7 RTM 64 dv7 1450
Just bought a computer HP dv7-1450 laptop with AMD Turion X 2 64 processors. Installed Windows 7 RTM 64 and everything seems to work except there are 4 unknown "other devices" listed in Device Manager. The 4 devices are:
-System base unit (x 3)
-Unknown Device (x 1)
I have no idea what are these devices. I tried looking for drivers for chipset on the AMD and HP Web site without result. But I do not know if these are the associated chipsets. One of the devices would be the disk fall sensor hard (it does not appear in the device no matter where Manager)?
Unfortunately on the HP site, there are not many downloads of drivers available for the 64-bit (Vista). I know that Windows 7 64 drivers won't be available until in October, but if there are not any available Vista drivers either, I expect to see all the drivers for Windows 7?
The most important thing for me is just to know what are these "other devices" 4 and get the drivers installed.
Thanks in advance!

Please can anyone shed light on this, or suggest where to look?
I built an application using the Application Builder of LV2014 (32 bit).
On a Win7 X 64 PC at work, it installs and runs ok.
On Win7 X 64 PC at the customer, it installs ok, but then after Windows restarts on demand 'device manager' no longer works and there are some unchangeable registry entries associated with nipalu. The client runs Symantec security software. A client COMPUTER technician is suggesting that LabVIEW is interacting with device drivers and this is the origin of the problem, but we do not know how to go further. It is not really acceptable to deploy computers where the Windows Device Manager no longer works. Surprisingly, the application itself works always - it's just Windows which messed up.
Thank you
Thanks for the suggestions. The company IT guy has not been able to talk to a person in NI UK support (no one was available), but he managed to keep it down to a problem with Dell Data Protection encryption Enterprise Edition. Delete first, then install the LabVIEW application, then reinsert DDPE gave a system where everything worked.
We have built apps that used progressively more labview drivers (vision, labview base; digital i/o)

The disc was an external USB disk, but the fitting broke so I took off the adapter and I try to use it via its native SATA connectors. The disc is spinning and the computer know when it starts in Windows XP. It says new hardware found and go through the installation process. Windows finishes the installation, and says that everything is good with the world. I look in Device Manager and it says "this device is working properly" when I click on the drive properties. THEN..................... I click on MY COMPUTER and viola! No. DRIVE shown where the WD5000AADS should be there. There is nothing except my C: drive and my CD - DVD players.
There are a few important (to me) information on this drive and I need to do. HELP Please!
Thank you

Hi twoiron,
- You are able to access the other USB devices on the computer?
See the link below and run the Fixit tool available, check if it helps.
A computer that is running Windows XP cannot detect a USB, an Apple iPod flash drive or an external hard disk drive
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/925196
If him above fails tool Fixit check if the player is detected in disk management and has a drive letter assigned.
To open disk management
(a) from the start menu, click Run.
(b) in the Open box, type diskmgmt.msc, and then click OK.
If the drive is detected in disk management and the drive letter is missing, then assign a drive letter to the drive and check if that helps.
