Windows 8.1 login bug

Hello

I currently have a problem with my computer. Whenever I turn on my computer, it says my login or password is incorrect. Although I can connect using my normal account, this "other user" really bothers me. I tried many things to remove it, but it's not going to go far.

Thanks in advance

Hello TheMagicalBird,

I understand that you are getting errors about the password on a user ghost. I have seen this before on Windows 8.1 and it is usually linked to no password set up on the local account. To solve this newspaper just your local account and set a password on it. You should see the error message is now gone when you log in.

I included a link to a CNet page How to get your log-in to a local account Windows 8.1

Please re-post if you need extra support. Tounsiiaa you to post on the Forums of HP. Have a nice day

  • launch the window of native windows with winAPI login credentials

I'm working on a feature in escalation of privilege/connection which uses the domain user/PW and got the LDAP authentication figured out, but I was hoping to avoid just using a control of chain of labview for the entered password b/c of security (Server VI, unencrypted, etc.). I am trying to call CredUIPromptForWindowsCredentials and start the native windows login window.  It is a function in the System32\credui.dll but I can't get the right settings.  I keep getting a return value of A0 (160) and no dialog boxes.  I think it's the PCREDUI_INFO type it screwing. He needs:

    (CredUIPromptForWindowsCredentials) DWORD WINAPI
    _In_opt_ PCREDUI_INFO pUiInfo,
    _In_ DWORD dwAuthError,
    _Inout_, ULONG * pulAuthPackage,.
    _In_opt_ LPCVOID pvInAuthBuffer,
    _In_ ULONG ulInAuthBufferSize,
    _Out_ LPVOID * ppvOutAuthBuffer,.
    _Out_, ULONG * pulOutAuthBufferSize,.
    _Inout_opt_ BOOL * pfSave,.
    _In_ DWORD dwFlags
    );

I was informed that Rolf would be able to solve this problem in 30 seconds.  Help me LabVIEW! You're my only hope!

    Josh,

It is easier to call it in a C wrapper dll.

I managed to get this window:

  • MSConfig does not display the item (by default) startup under HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run. Bug creates the feat of malware to hide the user startup items, msconfig.

The following question will fail be displayed in MSConfig

    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun]
    @= "c:\\users\\steven\\appdata\\local\\temp\\6csjbd5.exe".

I came across this, after being attacked by malware. In general, I use MSConfig to disable all startup items when troubleshooting an attack and attempt to regain control of the system. MSConfig lead me to believe I had disabled all startup items, but he fails to show or disable the (default) entry to the registry key above. Indeed, it's an exploitable bug that is currently used by malware developers to hide from end users, armed with MSConfig. As a side note, CCleaner has the same problem. The only solution is to change the value directly using RegEdit (clear).

  • No screensaver Windows 7 welcome/login screen.

Hello everyone, I just installed Windows 7 Professional 64 bit and I noticed that once the computer is turned on and sitting in front of the Welcome screen (there are 3 users on this computer), it will continue to show that the screen and never go to a screen saver. I used to have Vista and I remember he possibly commit the screensaver, even in the Welcome screen, but so far on 7 I have not seen that happen. Anyone know if this is normal or if there are some parameters that can be modified in order to implement? I found an old article on these settings in XP and Vista, however, the registry string it references does not appear in the registry 7. Any help would be appreciated.

    Hello

You can activate the screen saver of logon by adding a few registry values.

One of the problems that you have is that Direct3D support is not enabled on the login screen, which means that you cannot use any of the stock of Windows 7 screensavers.  With this in mind you can download any of your choice on the web or enter logon. File SCR to a Vista machine.  The file will be in C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32 - copy it to the same location on your Windows 7 machine.

Now, open the registry editor and navigate to HKEY_USERS. Default-Control Panel-Desktop

Under this key, create the following REG_SZ values...

SCRNSAVE. EXE = C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\LOGON. SCR (or whatever your file is called).
    ScreenSaveActive = 1
    ScreenSaveIsSecure = 0
ScreenSaveTimeOut = 60 (or whatever the desired delay in seconds)

What is - this - you will have your screen saver to the logon screen.  If you need help made me know in the comments section below.

I know that I'm not editing the registry here talking and I assume that you know how to do it.  If you haven't, let me know and I can send you a. REG file for example which will do that for you.

    I hope this helps!

  • Windows - Alt Key focus bug does not have to access the menus.

    Hello-

I use Alt - Tab to move through my open applications.  After tabbing through open applications using Alt - Tab, and then selecting an application (such as Excel), the Alt key does not work the first time I click on it.

For example, I Alt - Tab to Excel, Excel Gets the focus, I type Alt - F to access the file menu.  It does not work.  I find myself with the letter 'F' in the currently selected cell.  Inevitably, this screw my spreadsheet and distracted me from my work.  This was never a problem in Windows XP, in Windows 7.  I find that it is occurring with other applications also.

I have to press the ALT key twice or press ESC and Alt - F.

Is there any solution for this?  A patch?  A work around?

    Thank you

I discovered that the source of this problem (for my computer) is that I was using an Aero theme.  When I switched to Windows Classic theme, the problem disappeared.

    Steps to follow:

    (1) right-clight on your desktop.

    (2) select "Customize".

    (3) select "Windows Classic Theme.

I found that it was the themes Aero that caused the problem.  So now, Windows 7 is really ugly with the "Windows Classic theme" but I'll take functionality without bugs an interface fairly riddled with bugs anywhere, anytime.

    It works for you?

  • Problem with screen of Windows 7 Professional Login

    Hello

It is stuck like this for a while now and I can't fix it.

Everything is normal except for the login screen design.

Is there any solution for this or this is supposed to happen?

    Thank you.

What you see is the part of your new authentication program that you have installed.  Probably a reader of fingerprints, facial recognition or anything else.  If you (or your administrator) do not install this, then you should remove it from the control panel or run system restore to remove it and then search for threats, because it may have been a malicious addition.

  • Windows 7 slow login / delay authentication question user wireless via ACS 5.8

Just set up a new ACS 5.8 farm (only 2 servers) here and which I hope someone here can shed light on the difficulties.

The new ACS server is set up to correctly authenticate administration network device and I am currently working on the definition of profiles for our wireless users authentication and business laptops.

Being new to this version of ACS (we will migrate manually ACS 4) I followed an excellent example of this task described in a video on this site: http://www.labminutes.com/sec0044_ise_1_1_wireless_dot1x_machine_auth_peap

I managed to have a Windows XP sp3 client authenticate properly, first with the authentication of the computer, then the authentication of users... and the domain logon process takes place in a short period of time< 1min="" and="" the="" user="" gets="" all="" their="" networked="" drives="" via="" the="" domain="" login="">

However, I'm fighting to get our Windows 7 clients to authenticate properly.  It seems that the machine authentication does not work as expected (I can ping the laptop test from another machine on the network while the test machine is sitting at the login screen; and I see Authentication host recorded in the papers of authentication Radius ACS).  But, when a domain user logs in with his credentials, the connection process takes 4-5 minutes before an event to authenticate the user is entered in the register authentication Radius ACS, after which the login process completes, except that the domain logon script does not work and the user does not receive the drive mappings.

Can someone point me in the right direction here?  I would be grateful any entry on this.

    Thanks in advance,

    John

I had a similar problem with Wireless 802.1 x Win 7 clients unable to connect unless they had cached credentials of the AD.  Authenticate in the machine, but the user would take a lot of time if the Windows credentials have been cached.

I could solve the problem by expanding the ACL of the air space used during the user authentication to include all DC in the environment.

  • window.cep.fs.showOpenDialog bug in CEP4 - select max 9 files

    Hello

I'm creating an extension of html5 for Photoshop, and I think I found a bug.

When you use window.cep.fs.showOpenDialog () with the multipleFiles set to 'true' attrribute, I can only select up to 9 items at a time.

When I select 9 elements, everything is as it should be: I get my table of returned file names. But when I select more than 9 points, the table is empty.

I use CEP4 (CSInterface - 4.0.0) and Photoshop 14, since in the CC2014 and CEP5, the extension is running very very slow.
    Also I use Win 7 64 bit.

    Sam

We found this problem and plan to fix it in the next version.

  • Error on change of password due to the expiry at the first login - bug?

    Hello

When I create a new user to the workspace in a workspace by using the default password policy and set their password expires on first use, thus prompting a change of password, if the user specifies a password that violates the strong policy, they returned to the login screen of workspace with no indication that the password change was not accepted because it violates the strong policy. The user must connect with the original (unchanged) password, prompting so a change of password again once and they were beaten in a loop without clear indicator as to why.

If a password that passes the strong policy is used, there is a message stating that the password has been changed successfully and the user name can now work space with their changed password.

At this point if a change of password is requested by the user after the notation in the workspace, and a password that violates the strong policy is provided, a message appears saying that it violates the strong policy and why (which is what I expected to see when the password for the first time as described above). If they provide a password that passes the strong political, the password is accepted, a message is provided indicating this.

    Hi Alan,

Thanks for reporting this. I can also reproduce in 4.1.1 and filed a bug.

A quick glance shows that Apex successfully intercepts the password breach, but try to re - view the 4350:68 with errors inline page. This re - will the Sentinel of the session, which determines the session is invalid and redirects to the login page.

  • Resize windows to fit size bug - inconsistent behavior - decrease img?

Resize windows to fit (double click on the glass magnifying in the toolbar) works very well except when I do a smaller image. If I reduce the size of the image that I have to grab and drag the window to the image - any amount of change, large, small, works-and then it works fine. I tried to change the "Windows resizes Zoom" in preferences, "Resize Windows to fit" in the header bar, and I work in mode "float all Windows." Any ideas for a fix, something to try, or is this a known bug? Thank you!

When something weird going on in photoshop the first thing to try is resetting the prefs by keyboard or by the manual way. Read this link:

I realized some songs on Fl studio 10 for my project. Whenever I do drag or import it it opens in the preview screen but emit audio its supported by Windows Movie Maker, it's a .wav file, and the strange thing is that the previous songs I produced worked but not this one. Help, please

    Hello

If other songs work fine, then it is this individual song.

If you try to bring in other new songs, you experience the same behavior? If this isn't the case, then it's certainly the individual one song and it will need to be redone.
