  • SP2 install correctly black screens-error enigmatic messages-MSDSM driver incompatibility-loss of restore MICROSOFT DIFFICULTY points please!

I tried to install the important update of Vista SP2 on my HP dv7 64 bit computer.  The last Windows Update (Service Pack 2) gave me a warning that the 'MSDSM' driver is incompatible with the Service Pack.  He offered no solution or the identification of what is MSDSM.  Stupidly, I chose the option to continue installation of update anyway.  After downloading the update and then attempt the required reboot, the computer got through the Installation step 1 of 3.  Towards the beginning of phase 2, the computer has restarted, then moved to a black screen with a message to BACK an evolution line pretending to scan files.  He rose to a file number 3592 for ~ 75000 and wouldn't go any further, just kept flashing the same file name and number (with exclamation points!).  Finally, I held the power to close and restart manually button.  The system repair program began and eventually offered a system restore. I chose the system restore and it restored successfully.  I checked to see what restore point it had restored to and noticed that all my points of restoration (with the exception of the installation of SP2) had disappeared.  I also had an error message for Norton Internet Security 2009 indicating that antivirus programs have closed and had to run Live Update.  Surprisingly, it is 75Mo of updates even if I had been fully updated before installing SP2.  Thank you Microsoft for unwanted "improvement" which causes much more problems than it solves.  I highly recommend that anyone install SP2 unless and until MS comes up.

Check that, for those whose systems are still alive:

    Hi MariePARKS,

    ·         When exactly do you get the black screen?

    ·         What is the exact error message or error code?

    ·         Did you do changes on the computer before the show?

Follow the suggestions below for a possible solution:

Method 1: You can disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse, then check if the issue has not changed.

Method 2: If the method above doesn't help then you can check the /rebuildBcd Microsoft Knowledge Base article and /ScanOs then check.

  • Windows 7 black screen of death - please help!

Hi, so due to a failure, I had to turn disconnect a computer from work from the wall, wait, and plug it in again. I made sure to turn off safe and everything...

in any case when I turned it back on, I got the black startup screen. I tried safe mode (cannot start... end by themselves KSOD followed by restarting the computer), I tried to repair the system and the system restore (does not work because I have no restore points). I have tried "enable boot logging", "departure from the last known good configuration", "safe mode", all with the same problem. If I can get past the login screen that it just goes to the black screen of death, followed by an automatic restart. Then when it starts again it says "BOOTMGR is missing".

Any suggestions? I did a system repair disc and started with the CD player, and who also did nothing. Starting to think I'm a little screwed here.

    Hello

I realize has the inconvenience that you are experiencing with your PC to start. I will certainly help you to question.

I appreciate your efforts to resolve the issue. However, this error indicates that the boot sector is corrupted or missing.

I suggest you to refer to the section of rebuild data BCD (BCD) of Windows recovery environment (WinRE) from the link below and check if it helps:

  • Windows 8 black screen after Login or the wake from sleep / hibernate and flickering screen

    Hello

I have something of a nightmare with my desktop computer running Windows 8 x 64.

I did a bit of cleaning, unplug all cables, etc. and then reconnected everything later.

Since then, I've known the following questions: -.

After starting and going through the connection, I am faced with a black screen.  The monitor turns on, but there is no pointer.  However, if I clicked at random, it would open a Windows App out of the splash screen, which would then become visible.  If I moved the mouse to the bottom left, to get the splash screen, he would immediately go black screen on me.  He seemed to be refusing to display the splash screen.

With "display" black screen, I found I could get the Task Manager (Ctrl, Alt, Del) upward and there could access the desktop.  It would then execute as usual, but if I let it go into hibernation or even just having the power of the screen down, it would be black screen again, and I have to use the 'trick' Task Manager to retrieve the desktop computer.

Sometimes, using the Manager tasks does not always, because he'll sweep between the black screen and the desktop, alternating every 5-6 seconds.  I found through the process from the Task Manager, it stops doing this.

Now, I did a Windows 8 regenerate, without any change in the problems.  I made sure the AMD drivers have been completely updated (they were) and also physically checked all cables and cables are properly connected and the GPU / RAM etc are properly placed.

There is no error message displayed at any time. I have also disabled Fast Boot, nothing helps.

I examined a faulty monitor, but it worked fine for an hour or two at a time, until I got let go sleep or put into hibernation, and I'm at square one.  It would of course be a faulty GPU, or even a PSU failure, but I'm not convinced the symptoms are pointing to them.

For me, the fact it does not display the Windows 8 start screen after that Login or Wake Up is important.  It makes me think that Windows may interfere with the display in some way?

I can, if necessary, provide DXDIAG etc, and I "m hoping someone will have an idea of what goes wrong.  I have spent ages going through Google and others, but cannot find a solution to my problem.

Thanks for any help or suggestion you may have.

    Conrad.

It solved!  Traded my monitor cable and all problems solved.  Guess he had a break or something in one of the lines.

    Thanks anyway.

  • Windows 7 black screen with the cursor of the mouse in normal mode and safe

    Hi all
    I hope someone can help.
Laptop downloaded updates and after the restart will only go to a black screen with the mobile mouse cursor.
This occurs in safe mode, normal mode.
I tried all variations of safe mode and still the same thing happens.
Last known configuration does not solve. (i.e. no restoration or image to enter)
Using the vista win7 dvd upgrade or a linux dvd and screen appears as you expect his obvious system is very good.
I tried the options on ctrl alt del, ctrl shift esc etc etc, but I cannot go into Control Panel, or a any part of the win7 GUI.
Best I can do is access via the command-line... any thoughts on how to fix?

    Hello

Welcome to Microsoft Windows 7 answers Forum!

You can try the following steps and check whether the problem is resolved.

You can disconnect all external devices except the keyboard and mouse and check if you are able to boot to the desktop and check.

I also recommend what to do the Startup Repair. Follow these steps:

To perform a Startup Repair follow these steps:

    1. Insert the DVD of Windows 7 and restart the computer.

    2. when we are asked to press a key to boot from the DVD, please press enter or the SPACEBAR.

    3. choose your language settings, and then click Next.

    4. click on repair your computer.

    5. Select the operating system you want to repair, and then click Next.

    6. in the System Recovery Options menu, click Startup Repair. Startup Repair can invite you to make choices as it tries to solve the problem, and if necessary, it may restart your computer, because it makes the repairs.

Access the link below for more information on the Startup Repair:

  • Windows XP blue screen error message: 0 x 00000024

I keep my pc while it was running chkdsk (Yes, I know now that it was stupid) and since then couldn't make it past the above blue screen error message.

    Read the full error message: Stop: 0 x 00000024 (0x83160AB0, 0 x 0000102, 0 x 00190203, 0 x 00000000)

I have worked with F8, F12 and F2 Setup and managed to do it boot from the CD.  I put in the diagnosis CD and ran the diagnostics for blue screen and hard drive errors - all tests passed.

Then, I changed Setup to boot from the hard disk - but again received the blue screen.  Once back to the prompt, I tried running chkdsk/f and has received no indication of errors.  I tried chkdsk/f/r and can not access the recovery screen (it says it's an invalid order).  I tried to put it in C: > R and f: > R (F is my cd drive).

Help!  How can I get rid of this screen?

You damaged the Windows installation. If you have not saved the data on that hard drive, you may be able to get it back by using Linux Livecd such as Knoppix and copying data to an external hard drive. General information about the use of Knoppix for this are:

You will need a computer with two cd drives, which is a dvd/cd-rw OR a usb thumb drive with enough capacity to store your data, OR a usb/firewire external drive to FAT32 (not NTFS) *. To get the Knoppix, you need a computer with a fast Internet connection and software third engraving. Download Knoppix .iso image file and create your bootable cd. Then start with her and she will be able to see the files in Windows. If you use the USB key or an external hard disk, right-click on its icon (on the desktop) to get its properties and uncheck "read only". Then click on it to open it. Note that the mouse action by default in the window manager used by Knoppix (KDE) is a simple click to open instead of double-click traditional MS Windows. If you want to burn CD/DVDs, use the K3b program.

    * My understanding is that you can now write on NTFS from Linux partition. If you wish to do this, Google for instructions.

    http://www.Knoppix.NET

Once the data is safe, try a repair installation. If it works fine. If this is not the case, do a clean install of Windows.

  • Windows Vista black screen after startup

    Hello!

I have a pc HP G60 with Windows Vista. After the updated pc, I couldn't use Google Chrome (it crashed and said 'Whoa Google Chrome has stopped working') after reading a few posts, I decided to restore the pc. So once I did this it worked fine. The next day Chrome stopped working again and not so my Mozilla Firefox (it says THAT XPCOM is not found) and I think it was because as I closed the previous night there are more updates running on the computer. So I restored around 4 or 5 times and the last time I have done that and restarted the computer, that he was really a lot of time with a black with just the mouse screen shows so I shut it down by pressing the power down button (bad I know). Now, whenever I turn it on, you can see the Windows loading screen with the small bars at the bottom and then there is a black screen with white text, requesting that the operating mode (safe mode, normal mode, etc.) and then after I decided to use it says loading files or something like that in the white text then just a bunch of names to run it on the screen. However, after that then it goes to a black screen with only the mouse showing. Someone knows how to fix this? I tried pressing the f8 key and I tried pressing the power button for 30 seconds without energy sources and put into market as Sigma_08 says in this post:

    https://social.msdn.Microsoft.

and the CTRL ALT DEL, but it still does not work. Is there something I can do? D:

    * I tried all modes (normal, security) on the start screen (it opens with this screen every time since I closed it the wrong way.

Hello! Thanks for the help! I have not tried, but because it turned out that I was pressing f8 at the wrong time, then tried again before the windows logo showed on the screen and was able to use the Repair Options and then system restore and this time he solved the problem! Thank you again for taking time to answer and the link!

Hey, I have a problem in Windows Vista:

I've been updating / updated my graphics card and it is the graphics card, I'm updating, after a while, a black screen will appear (PITCH BLACK) and I there is no cursor and I tried Ctrl + Alt + Delete, but nothing seems to work, after I turned off my laptop, starts to load then it was the new dark night! Then I turned off my laptop then I constantly pressed f8, then I pressed "Computer repair" then it loads then my screen showed "Another user", then I clicked it then I had to type my ID but I have no details of connection, I pressed on enter with no connection details, but this still does not work because I had to type in my login information. I tried everything, then I went to safe mode and fact a password and changed my admin account type, then I rebooted my laptop, then I have constantly pressed f8 and pressed "Computer repair" then it loads and then my screen showed 'Another user' again... .
