Windows 8 ceased to recognize the external hard drive.

Original title: Windows 8

Windows 8 stopped recognizing my Seagate more 1 TB external hard drive. It worked fine for months and just stopped to acknowledge, also my Adobe Reader XI stop working. I get "internal error" when I try to use Adobe PDF. Moreover, ARO 2012 program will not finish analyzing the registry database. I uninstalled and reinstalled this program muliple times. Y at - he was a stooge computer can solve the problem by myself? Please help me. I will send $ 1 million to anyone who can tell how to solve this problem. Michael Story

Just moved my hard drives and data to new Windows 8 System. They had been in an XP system - none were never drives on the system. I put a solid state in machine it's like my C drive, and I had a smaller State such in my XP machine.

External hard drive has worked until I tried a few copies of largest I had crashed and has been implemented of the BU as it should.

After about 5 minutes on a consistent basis, the green light on the drive is out and it is no longer recognized.

So I have the drive click right and clicked on properties and tools and selected the option to check the disc - not optimize it.

Soon, he came back and said everything is fine, but you can scan if you wish.

I scanned and the scan found bad things and seems to have stopped

There is no option to correct but he told me to fix.

I closed the message thought I would find a way to fix it after that I erased the message when a repair analyze and fix the Panel came and I clicked it to move forward.

After minutes the Green drive light is out, but the thing seemed to work, but it took forever.

I stopped, powered external drive on and outside, disabled protection cirus and restarted the tools again and this time it took me right to repair. After minutes the drive light exploded again but this time I let him keep Chuck.  I come back about a half hour later and he was properly executed and repair the disc and the drive light was again.

I have not ran the copies still no problemo!

Thanks to all the people who gave me good ideas

  • Cannot recognize the external hard drive.

Have an iMac with Parallels and Windows SP installed Pro computer.  Until yesterday, when we had a power outage, I had a Verbatim external disk set on the Windows side of the machine that worked very well.  I the embroidery machine and I keep my drawings on this small hard drive and access it through a software on the side of my Mac Windows.  Since the blackout, my Mac does not recognize the Verbatim.  I tried the Verbatim on another pc and it works fine.  Turned on my Mac, is gone on the side of the window, plugged in the Verbatim... little popup appears asking if I want it on the Mac or my Virtual Machine.  I loaded Virtual Machine.  When I go to my program of embroidery and search the external hard drive, he doesn't "see" it.  Then a box comes up and says "do you want it disconnected from your Mac" and it must be removed by force of the virtual machine.  NOTHING WORKS.  It worked perfectly before and I can't figure out how to get my Virtual Machine (Windows) to recognize.

    Hi gloriajstitcher,

Check if the disk is detected by plugging it into a different port.

I suggest you post in your query in the Parallels forums to improve the assistance:

  • Windows Vista does not recognize my external hard drive, Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK

I have an HP Presario laptop running Windows Vista and it does not recognize my external hard drive, or my flash drives.

I have an external hard drive Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK.  It worked fine on my desktop, which works on XP.  I plug it to my computer laptop and nothing.

When I plugged it in the first place, he says that he needed to download the drivers.  I clicked 'ok' to automatically download drivers and a few seconds later, he said that it successfully completed the driver download/install.

I look under the drives in my computer and he's not here.

I went to start, right click computer, left you click on Manage and double-clique then under storage disk management.  All I see are C drive and recovery disc (D).  No other drives displayed.

I exitted who and set up the Control Panel, double click on Device Manager.  He said in the other topic peripheral USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge.  I don't know whether or not it is my external hard drive.  It indicates the Type of device: Other Devices and under device status it says: "the drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).  This operation requires an interactive window station.  To reinstall the drivers for this device, click on reinstall the driver. »

He asks if I want to reinstall the drivers, so I clicked that.  He couldn't find them / install them.

Still, I don't know if USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge is still linked to my external hard drive.

Help, please.  The same thing happens when I try to plug a flash/USB.

    Try this:

In the right click 'USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge' Device Manager under the other devices section, click unsintall or press the delete key. Reset with the connected hard drive it must be reinstalled, but under the USB controllers. Make sure the device works on the other computer cable can also go to bad.b

  • Dual-boot Windows XP is installed on the external hard drive

My computer has Windows XP and Windows 7 installed. I added a hard drive with Windows XP is already installed on the computer.

In order to access additional hard drive, I need to change the priority of the hard drive in the BIOS.

Is it possible to add a boot option to the Boot Manager screen so that I can boot from the additional hard disk without modifying the BIOS settings?

First of all, to the best of my knowledge you should not change anything in the bios to access the external drive.

Second, if Xp has not been installed on the external hard drive while the drive is connected to the computer in question it will not be loaded. Simply, it does not work like that. Even if you install Windows on the outside when it is connected to your computer, I don't think it must configure the boot.ini file, giving you the ability to dual boot when the computer is turned on. You can boot from the external drive provided however your bios supports booting from a usb key. I think that to accomplish what you want, you will need to remove the hard drive of the external envelope and attach it to your computer using an eSATA cable. Then it will be recognized as a regular system disk.

  • New computer that is running Windows 7 does not recognize my external hard drive completely

I bought a new PC with windows 7.  I use an external hard drive with USB to move the files from the old PC (XP) to the new PC.

When I go on my devices, the external hard drive appears.  When I look at the details on this HD and pushes to execution, windows States there are no problem.

The clues of what I need to do so that I can look at the files on my external hard drive?

    Thank you

    Hi Andre,

I've struggled for some time with this one, here's how I finally solved it.  Apparently, USB drivers for mass storage devices was not compatible with my external hard drive.  I simply uninstalled the USB drivers for mass storage devices, then plugged my hard drive.  Automatically downloading appropriate drivers, and I was good to go.

Just thought you might want to know that.

  • Windows 8 cannot connect to the external hard drive after you have added the drive case.

Original title: I have my hard drive from my previous PC attached to my new PC with windows 8. My old PC had XP. How to access the external hard drive?

I had problems with my XP operating system and could not transfer all the files to my new PC. I spoke with Dell who I believe created the problem with software support. I was told to get out the hard drive, buy a hard drive enclosure and get my files from there. I can't find the hard drive.

    Hello

    Thank you for the update.

Given that the problem occurs when the hard drive is connected to a different USB port or another computer, it is probably related to the connection of the hard disk.

Method 1: check if the problem occurs in another computer after removing the hard disk enclosure.

    Method 2:

Step 1: Check if the hard drive is detected in Windows Explorer.

To do this, follow these steps:

    a. connect the hard disk of the computer.

    b. press the Windows key + E to open Windows Explorer.

    c. check if the hard drive is present here.

Step 2: Check if the hard drive is detected in disk management.

To do this, follow these steps:

    a. on the desktop, press the Windows key + X , and then select disk management.

    b. check if the hard drive is listed there.

Contact the manufacturer of the hard drive and hard drive enclosure for assistance.
