Windows 8 could not apply updates, changes, without system restart

Hi, I have a question for the community. I inherited laptop family which had been neglected for a year or two, and the user only became interested in this topic when it became virtually unusable. Usually, I have no problem to fix things, but this one left me speechless. I am preparing him to be his main portable College. All answers are appreciated! Thank you.

The problem

  1. The first thing I did was clean reallyyyy good. The anti-virus scanner found and quarantined 17 virus, and 74 infected files and those isolated thus found malware scanner. I did two of each type of scan, and he showed clean. So I don't know, I work with a system bug free.
  2. Then I went to Windows Update and saw that there were 102 important updates waiting to be installed. I laughed pretty hard and then install them. There is no problem downloading or installation of updates, and it prompted me to restart my computer.
  3. After the restart, he said briefly that he was applying updates. And then he said: "failure Configuring Windows Updates. Changes in recovery', and he stays on this screen for nearly an hour and let me finally reconnect.
  4. To ebb in Windows Update, it has installed updates not listed as 'Impossible '.

What I tried

  1. The tool for troubleshooting Windows 8 "online, Mr. Fix it."
  2. Online draft and the installation of the Windows update that updates the Windows Update program (I don't have the number on me, but I can pick up if necessary)
  3. Installation of a few at a time
  4. Only install the update as soon as possible
  5. Update of article 8.1; He won't let me not until I install the remaining updates, which I am obviously unable to do

Systems specifications

  • HP laptop
  • Windows 8.0
  • 30 months of age
  • Zero, a hardware or software issues that are known (in addition to Windows Update)
  • Processor i3

What can I do? I did the basic troubleshooting steps, and I thought before that I really jack he is trying obscure solutions I should post LOL. Thank you!!!

Thanks for your help. All those who came negative, and I decided to re install windows 8.

And after adding only two programs of installing the base, YET the the DO COULD NOT.

Of course, here, I could see that he had to now be one of the two programs, Google Chrome and Comodo Antivirus.

It turns out that these errors were caused by a misconfigured firewall and an excess of zeal, even if my comodo firewall with the same settings on Windows 7 had no problems.

But apparently, it considers that the program Windows Update in Windows 8 is a bit sketchy haha.

A simple rule change fixed it! Thank you.

  • Professional installation of Windows 7 could not apply the upgrade check and will not activate.

I installed Windows 7 Professional upgrade on my computer. I had WIndows XP on the computer.   I removed the HD and put in an SSD.  The installation did not ask me for my drive XP check the upgrade.  Now it doesn't let me activate the software.  What should I do?

I have the keys for the two products.

The check is done by launching the installation from a previous version of Windows qualification.

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

    Enter the product key

    Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

Provide the installation generated when ID requested by the call agent

They give a confirmation ID in return, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

However, the requirements for the media upgrade is that you have an operating system already eligible such as Windows XP or Vista installed to use it. Since the Windows 7 end user license agreement.

15 UPDATES. To use upgrade software, you must first be licensed for the software that is eligible for the upgrade. After the upgrade, this agreement takes the place of the agreement for the software that you upgraded. After upgrade, you can no longer use the software that you upgraded.

So, if you are always denied, you will just have to reinstall Windows XP or Vista and let it do the verification of eligibility.

can someone tell me please how to fix this problem without losing all my work together from my laptop

    Hello

Either the hard disk must be at fault or OS for corrupt or maybe it's just a few updates of Windows at the origin of the problem.

You can do a system restore to a well known state previously.
See the section "restoring your computer when Windows cannot start normally" here - http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03327545

But first do a complete hard drive - fast and wide test first from the BIOS:
    http://support.HP.com/us-en/document/c03467259

You have the support of recovery with you?

If the HARD drive has FAILED, you must replace it.

If the HARD drive had failed, I suggest that you change the automatic update of Windows from the control panel to "Automatically check for updates but let you choose to download and install them or Not" next time after you do a restore. Be sure to restore to a point at least 48 hours before the problem started.
    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/5794-Windows-Update-automatic-updating-turn-off-Windows-8-a.htm...

Maybe some update is the cause of the problem.

Next: run a scan of the file system - Option 2 in this tutorial:
    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/3047-sfc-scannow-command-run-Windows-8-a.html

    Restart the system.

Then, run the commands dism, account required to Option 1 in this tutorial:
    http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/26512-DISM-fixing-component-store-corruption-Windows-8-a.html

    Restart the system.

Now, you manually install the update to Windows I'm matches of 5 instead of as a whole.

Restart the system after each batch installs.

Note: Completely disable/uninstall all Antivirus software from your system all the while.

C80003FA ReadVerifyFailure - a read verification error occurred.

    1. What is the suite of security/antivirus installed?
    2 is a 3rd party firewall installed?
3 - is an upgrade to another edition of Windows?

Please click on the round of departure. In the search field type programs and files in wups2.dll

Under programs right click wups2.dll and choose Properties, when the Properties window opens, click the Details tab.
Version of the file and the product should be showing 7.4.7600.226
Now do the same for c:\windows\system32\wuaueng.dll
He, too, should show file version and product like 7.4.7600.226

If the version is earlier than that, you will need to install the more recent Version of the Windows Update Agent.
The easiest way to do this is therefore download and Save the Fixit found here - How to reset the Windows Update components?
Once the download completes close all open programs and browsers.
Run MicrosoftFixit50202.msi and choose its default mode.

BUT, if the installed firewall antivirus/security suite or a 3rd party is causing the "reading check error" then the Fixit may/does not work.
If this is the case, then Configure the system to boot after download and Save the Fixit.
Then, run the Fixit after the reboot to clean boot state.
Restart and Cancel the clean boot steps, restart again to normal Windows mode.

    NOTE:
in the boot minimum state all the 3rd party firewalls will be disabled. When you run the Fixit either unplug the system from it is the network connection or make sure the native firewall of Windows 7 is now on by opening the control panel > Windows Firewall.
