Windows 8 Embedded Standard doesn't have a "Full Windows compatibility"?

Hello

I am trying to determine what version of Windows Embedded might be the right one for a particular product. The comparative table of features at https://www.microsoft.com/windowsembedded/en-us/windows-embedded-8.aspx indicates that the Standard edition version does not "Complete Windows compatibility". In the datasheet, I could, unfortunately, not to determine which features of Microsoft compatibility refers to. Does anyone know what restrictions apply?

Thank you!

Dominik

    On Modem Standard (33600)

I use saved Window XP Professional Version 2002 Service Pack 3. I need to configure a Standard Modem on my computer, however it doesn't have the Types of Standard modems available in the list. However, when I go to control panel-> phone and Modem Options-> Modems-> add-> Next (check don't detect my modem; I will select it from a list.) most computers have a list of Standard Modems (i.e. Standard 56000 bps Modem Standard 33600 bps Modem, etc.), but I do not have those on the list. I need to choose one of those to create the modem that I need for my use. I did it on another computer and it works fine, but the computer I really want it on it does not have the choice to choose a Standard Modem. Any ideas on how to get the installed Standard Microsoft modems?

    Hello

Follow these steps and check if that helps.

    1. open the file inf under c:\windows\inf

    2. navigate to the modemcsa.inf file.

    3. right click on the file, and then click install.

    4. Once done, check if you have the standard modems listed in the list add a modem.

Any who tried never to install and run the LabVIEW Runtime Engine (2011 or later version) on Windows Embedded Standard 7 P 32 / 64-bit?

I'm trying to figure out if this will work, for example on a CX5120 PC Beckhoff embedded. I have to have some TCP/IP communication simple to exchange information with another PC, but nothing else, i.e. drivers, etc...

I hope that someone tried to do already. I don't have the right equipment now to check it out.

As NEITHER sells touchscreens with WES7 installed here: http://sine.ni.com/nips/cds/view/p/lang/en/nid/210551 it's pretty safe to assume that they used the RTE on WES7.

    But yes, it is done.

  • IE 8 on Windows Embedded Standard 7 is extensible to IE9 or IE10? Is it possible to install other browsers? that is, firefox or google chrome?

I have more than 10 thin clients with Windows Embedded Standard 7 with IE8. We are running a web application that crashes with IE8. I tried the upgrade to IE9 or IE10, but during the upgrade process, it stops and fails to install. I also tried installing various other browsers such as firefox and chrome, but they fail during the instalation.

Is there a limitation with the installation of other browsers or IE upgrade with windows embedded standard 7?

  • In XP, SP2, Windows Embedded Standard 2009, system to see the CF 8 GB Extreme like disk sets.

    Hi all

I'll put up an industrial PC with reader CF card on the motherboard. The system come with a card CF 8 GB, XP SP2, Windows Embedded Standard 2009 installed. I want to keep this card as the master of the copy, so I buy a SanDisk CF Extreme 8 GB in replacement card. I managed to copy the image to the new CF card and make it bootable. However when XP is running, he still see the CF card as a removable drive C:\. Where as with the original card CF, the operating system see a fixed drive C:\. It's a way I can make the SanDisk CF card as a fixed disk, as I have a problem with the installation of the software.

Unfortunately no you can go see it as fixed disk. SanDisk sells only fixed disk via the OEM channel cards. you will need to contact one of their OEM distributors and buy a card of fixed disk mode.

  • Deploy an image of Windows Embedded Standard 7

    Hello

The company I currently outsources our computers, but in order to save money, I took it upon myself to develop our internal computers.  Right now, the company works with that offers us a computer, a hard drive (with a customized version of Windows Embedded Standard 7) and all the necessary material to hang all this.  Rather than spend me time for the redevelopment of the OS for our needs, I was wondering if I can just picture one of the drives that they provide for us (with software such as Norton Ghost) and flash the image on the blank hard drives.  Obviously, this made appear some questions when it comes to product keys, licenses, etc.  What I hope is, that once the OS image is flashed on the new hard drive, can I just change the product within the software key so that the version of windows in real and legitimate for each image I have flash.  In no case that I want to "pirate" software, just the exact configuration of the OS even for each hard drive.  Once the image is flashed on the new drive, a new product key will be purchased/provided for each hard drive that I Flash the OS.  We rely on the purchase of the exact same type/model computer that was provided for us the company, we outsource to, therefore, and this is one of the reasons why I want to do this way, drivers, etc. should not be a problem.  If someone can provide an idea would be great.
If, for some reason, this is not possible and decide us to purchase a Windows Embedded Standard 7 license and install the drive, as well as any type of software development, we need to customize the operating system, is there a way to emulate easily configuring of the hard drives that we have in our possession now?

  • Try to transfer mail from outlook express to windows live but my display windows live doesn't have a tab "file" on the banner. Where is he?

Try to transfer mail from outlook express to windows live but my display windows live doesn't have a tab "file" on the banner.  Where is he?  I even downloaded the latest version of Windows Live Essentials and didn't get any results in obtaining the 'file' tab is displayed when you click in the upper left corner or in the Live window.  It appars I may be trying to work with a version under Windows Live but can't seem to get the "good".

There is no bar in WLMail 2011 and 2012. What version do you use? The last version to work under XP (this forum) is WLMail 2009 and having a Menu bar with file on it.

If you transfer to a more recent machine...

In Outlook Express, compact you files first.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Transfer of data from Outlook Express and Windows Live Mail:

    For Messages:

Copy the * ENTIRE * OE message store folder to a flash drive. (Folders.dbx must be included). Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

V-2009: open WLMail and: file | Import | Messages | Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

V-2011/2012: Menu button. Import Messages. Microsoft Outlook Express 6, and the point where it was saved.

    Location of OE message store:

In OE: Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP the OE User (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

Note: If any DBX file is over 300 MB, return to OE and move some messages from the folder related to a new user created folder and compact down the size of the file.

    For addresses:

Open the address book in OE and file | Export | Address book (wab) and save it to the desktop. Copy it to a flash drive. Place it on the desktop or another location on the computer using WLMail.

For WLMail 2009: Open list of Contacts in WLMail, (go |) Contacts in the Menu bar) and the file | Import | Address book (wab) Windows and the point where you saved it.

WLMail 2011/2012: switch to the contacts window (click on the book icon to the address at the foot of the folders pane, or press Ctrl-3). Click on the import button, select address book (wab) Windows and point on where it was saved.

Note: If you use a CD or a DVD instead of a flash drive, after placing on the new machine you must remove the read-only attribute in the properties before you import.

    For the account settings:

In OE: Tools | Accounts, select the account and export it to the desktop. This will be an .iaf file. Copy it to the new desktop computer.

For WLMail 2009: Tools | Accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

For WLMail 2011: The Menu button. Options | E-mail accounts and import the settings from the location you saved the.

Account settings do not matter in WLMail 2012. You will have to do it manually.

Usually, but not necessarily always, this problem has to do with your Intrenet Explorer or your main browser with NOT all its faults.

Open start > default programs > set your default programs > column on the left, click on Internet Explorer or your main browser...
He said "this program has all its defaults"?
If not, click on choose by default for this program > put on check all entries in the list > OK when finished.

Suddenly, the 64-bit Windows 7 Media Player doesn't have a location to save the ripped files. It is impossible to rip CDs. How can I fix it?

You can order these links on ripping...

You can try this procedure to restore your windows media player.

    (1) Perform SFC first. Follow the link on how to make SFC (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833)

    (2) turning on Windows Media Player again.

    a. go to start and in the search type 'Turn Windows has or not'.

    b. click on the "Turn Windows features on or off".

    c. check the "media features.

    d. restart the computer.

You can also try restore (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/products/features/system-restore) your computer to the final point where windows media player worked.

Or you can use the previous versions of windows media player that comes from restore points or windows backup.

Or you can try to run 'Fixit '.

  • Windows 8 Wifi doesn't have a valid IP configuration

    Background:
I've been a happy user of Windows 7.  I did the upgrade of Windows 8 and internet connection seems to work very well for two days. Then, a few days ago Windows made the usual software updates after I shut down my computer.  The next time that I opened it upwards (yesterday), it wouldn't connect to the internet no matter what.  I'm computer savvy so tried all suspects, but to no avail.   I used the troubleshooting tool that came with "WiFi doesn't have a valid IP configuration."    Please don't tell me to turn on/off the router.  Tried that and it doesn't work.  I also tried the following at the command prompt (run as administrator):

netsh winsock reset catalog (reset winsock entries)

netsh int ip reset reset.log hit (reset TCP/IP stack).

Then rebooted and still no luck.

I am inclined to think that there is a compatibility issue, perhaps pilots.   I have a Toshiba Satellite P750.   The main thing is that my computer is now a useless brick and it's cost me money by not being able to get online (for my work).

Here's my ipconfig/all the information.  I hope that someone can have useful information to resolve this problem once and for all.  My only other option is to go back to Windows 7 (which actually does not work) and avoid Windows 8 until it becomes a relatively bug free and viable operating system. Thanks for your help.
