Windows 8 file Explorer will not open tasks/metro UI bar more it restarts my flashes of my taskbar as if it crashed

Whenever I click on Explorer of the taskbar or the metro UI, it restarts my taskbar and Explorer ever arises. But when I (drag and drop) or right-click and select a PIN Explorer of files in the folder / location seems to work. File Explorer seems to be very well with my other programs when opening a specific folder.

He seemed to have solved it for me.  I went through each extension to explore one by one and off to see if it was a sub-process that is causing the violation.   Finally, I hit 'SageThumbs' an extension of image viewer that I had used on Windows 7.  It seems that it was not completely compatible with Win 8 in time so I removed it and everything what it is stable agan.   I am very surprised that explore runs in such a fashion, not secure.  If this is still happening for you, look in your shell extensions, they can be the culprit.

  • (Windows Vista) my page of video file realplayer does not open properly: the green bar at the top of the loading screen is not entirely

I didn't have a problem until 2 days ago... I downloaded some new realplayer (flash) video files, but one of them seems to be a MPEG-4 file (.. all the files in my video file realplayer are flash videos)... this curious MPEG-4 file will not be deleted: when I try to send it to the Recycle Bin, he refuses to convert & go... In addition, the page of the video file realplayer full is not load correctly: the green bar at the top of the page never quite fully charged...

.. I'm rather surprised that a file is nothing else than to flash video: my adobe flash player everything usually converted to flash format recognized before on my video page download realplayer... this file MPEG-4 all simply could not be downloaded correctly? Certainly, it does not play in realplayer format (all my other flash videos still play in realplayer, despite not fully loading the page video file of realplayer)

I ran a review of the file Norton: Norton says that the file is new & untrustworthy... but on a more positive note, says that the file did not any suspicious activity...

I did a complete analysis of the system of Norton, a Stopzilla anti-spyware scan & also an analysis of the registry... who say that I am clear... I also tried a system restore (with turned off Norton) who failed twice, so I went back to the last known good configuration using advanced startup... options that make no difference (..) I guess the restoration & configuration options are not going to make a big difference in any way, if these programs do not change or delete your personal files...)

This MPEG-4 file would contain some type of malware unrecognized by Stopzilla or Norton?  Can I download another anti-spyware program and another scanner?

.. or is it simply a coincidence that my video page realplayer will not open properly at the same time?  If it would open, would the file MPEG-4 immediately convert into a flash format & works normally?

Thank you very much... I have tried a similar topic, but couldn't find anything... I would be very grateful for any help or advice you can give... Cheers, Ashley (burnageboy) Manchester, UK

  • Windows Media Player 12 will not open or read CD/DVD

Excuse me, I know that I posted earlier but I accidentally hit the wrong button and it says has answered my question and it was not. I had a virus on my computer and it was cleaned professionally. Now my windows media player will not open. He also will not play a cd/dvd or existing music files on my computer. The icon appears on the screen, but nothing happens when I try to open it. I can't do a system restore because there is nothing to restore, my computer was completely wiped out. Someone suggested this below "Disable media features" reboot and then turn on again. I tried already with no luck. I'm also totally updated everything I could find to put on my computer up-to-date.

    1. click on Start (lower-left) and then on Control Panel.

    2. click on programs and features.

    3. on the left side of the screen, click on 'Windows turn features on or off".

    4. look for the entry called multimedia features and extend it by using the symbol. +.

    5. uncheck the box for Windows Media Player.

    6. click on OK.

    7 restart the PC.

    8. click on Start (lower-left) and then on Control Panel.

    9. click on programs and features.

    10. on the left side of the screen, click on 'Windows turn features on or off".

11 look for the entry called multimedia features and to extend it using the symbol +.

    12. check the box for Windows Media Player.

    13. click on OK.

    14. restart the PC.

I was afraid of that - "Configuration parameters can be set wrongly."

On google, there are a few reports of this error message and I couldn't find any that it is resolved. I hope that someone else will be "the chip" with a solution. I'm sorry.

There are some media player FixIt who might want to try (I have not had your specific problem and Ive not run the FixIt so can't say for sure).

You can try things like a SFC/scannow , that can help, but I doubt it. I guess it depends on what the virus.

You could check that the virus is actually went in downloading, installing, free update (update in the Admin) and running a scan with Malwarebytes , but if it was 'cleaned professionally"should be deleted. But unfortunately things that his attack can still be altered.

You could try a test, to create a new user account 'test' and the connection through that to see if WMP works from this account. for example, it can be your user profile that has been damaged. If this account works WMP then migrate your data everywhere...

If all goes well, a WMP expert will come to the rescue.

  • Win Windows 7 photo viewer will not open the .psf files

Windows Photo Viewer does not open. PSF files from Epson?

Programs can recognize only the files they are supposed to use.

In the case of the Windows Photo Viewer, the official documentation says that it can display the following types of files (although you can add a little more by installing one or more codecs- LINK):

    Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG)

    .jpg and .jpeg,

    Tagged Image File Format (TIFF)

    . TIF and .tiff

    .PNG

    Graphics Interchange Format (GIF)

    .gif

Do you really mean PSF files?  As far as I can tell, a PSF file is probably an Adobe Photoshop proof Settings file.

  • File dialog will not open

Recently, I tried to add an attachment to an email from Yahoo in Firefox. When I need to click on "Attach files", the bar at the top of my window of Firefox (where him minimize, maximize, and close buttons are) flash and nothing would happen. No file dialog opens. I tried my school Zimbra account. No attachment dialog.

I've tried Chrome. The same problem.

(I find earlier that Internet Explorer has allowed me to attach a file by using the same e-mail Yahoo account.) But I think that the type of file that is called in IE browser is different...)

Anyway, I gave up and did something else on my computer. When I would try to open a file in some programs, the dialogue which should open for me to select a file from my system will not be open.

For example, when I open 7zip and select ' File/open', nothing happens (sometimes at the edge of the window begins to blink). Same thing happens in Jnes, WinRAR, OpenOffice and Adobe Reader, among others. Or if I install something and you try to select the path by clicking on 'Browse', nothing happens.

But then programs like Paint.NET, Reaper and above Internet Explorer open a file dialog to select a file to open.

I tried to remedy this by installing the latest version of Java, but Data Execution Prevention kept stopping. Since I got him to "AlwaysOff" via the command prompt. Turn off DEP enabled me to install Java, but does not solve my problem of dialog box.

    What else could be wrong?

I did a restore of the system to a point before that my problem started. the problem may be due to an add-on for firefox which put bookmarks on multiple lines, but that is only a guess.

I was sent a "wav" file, but it does not open because it says that there is no program associated with the file.

.wav files will open with Windows Media Player. If there is an attachment in the e-mail message, follow these steps. If it is already on your hard drive, just skip step 1.

    Create a file association.

    1. download and save the attachment to the office.
    2. right click on the saved file.
    3. Select: Open with on the shortcut menu.
    4. click on: choose [default] program.
    5. Select: Windows Media Player.
    6. check: always use the selected program to open this type of file.
    7. click on OK.

This should allow you to open these attachments directly from email address now.

  • Photo Gallery Windows and Windows Live Photo Gallery will not open

Windows Photo Gallery does not open. This happened after trying to import images. Photo Gallery does not recognize the old photos so it would import duplicates, so I kept cancelling the process. Now it does not open. The blue circle goes as it will open up and then nothing happens. I downloaded Windows Live Photo Gallery, and it opens either. I have Windows Vista Home Premium version 6. On rare occasions, the gallery will open. What can I do? I read in this forum to rename the file, but it does not work. I did a system restore and that doesn't work anymore. Someone knows what can be done?

  • Windows Vista Photo Gallery will not open .jpg on desktop but in a folder on the desktop - why?

I use vista and if I put a .jpg on the desktop image I open it with any normal program 'open with', with the exception of the Windows Photo Gallery.

If I create a folder on the desktop and then to move the image in the folder it opens very well as usual.  I logged as a different user on the same computer to test if this office was undergoing the same wierdness.  These are the works very well as it is supposed to.  Accordingly, I find that there are some bad configured "widget" on my main desktop of the user to open the image files automatically when they are on the desk.

How to restore the default double click of the image so this Windows Photo Gallery it opens on the desktop?

OK, I found the reason and the solution.  I want to thank myself to resolve this weird behavior of Vista

the problem occurs because a URL (web link), you have on the desktop is too long.  something like a link to google maps for example or something else Street which is more then 64 characters is originally the Gallery windows to screw up.  Why these two files different, sitting on the desktop may be related, I don't know, but they are.

find the link that is the author of the offence and delete or move elsewhere and out of your office and bingo!  your desktop image viewer works again.

    HOW TO FIX:
I found the easy long url because there were only a few links on my desk so if you have a lot and you are not sure which one is, simply create a folder called 'junk url' and move all web links in this directory.  Now, you will see that your office is working again as it should so that you know that one of those that you moved is bad.  Now, to pull everyone out, one at a time on your desktop and keep stable your .jpg image to see if it considers the image.  One of these URLS will begin his shows do not and when you check the properties of this url, you will see that it is a super long address.  One who is bad - get rid of him and now your fixed.
