Windows 8, forcing me to go to 8.1

For these last days, my Windows 8 PC showed messages that say I can go to 8.1 for free. It is longer that the messages typical and you give options on when you want to restart and install. Because the message started to appear, I clicked on "Remind Me later", but now he has removed this option and appears to force me to update. I don't want to update 8.1 for the following reasons:

  • My internet is very slow, and most downloads over 15 MB fail before completing. So, the download will likely then time out and fail.
  • My favorite video game (and probably many others) a lot of compatibility issues with 8.1. (Compatibility mode doesn't solve anything)
  • I used 8.1, and I think it's more confusing to use with a keyboard and a mouse.

It still shows when I'm doing something important. Now I can't get rid of it, I'm getting very frustrated.

I use Mac until I get a reply. (Because Apple doesn't force you to upgrade your operating system, you can choose to do it yourself)

Hello

Unfortunately, once it starts to try to install it, you are out of luck...

In Task Scheduler, there was a task set to start the installation at the next restart\logon...

This is after you select "Remind Me later" the second time...

There is a good chance, it has already been downloaded and stored on your C:\ drive in a hidden folder Windows $. ~ BT.  8.1 download would be named "install.esd" to about 2.6 GB.

If you're really desperate, you can try a program based on LINUX of 3rd party on a bootable CD that will allow you to rename or delete the folder.

If successful in doing that, you could then terminate, disable and remove scheduled in tasks

Task Scheduler under * Microsoft-Windows \Setup***

After this, uninstall Windows updates KB3008273, KB2973544 and KB2871389, in that order.

KB2973544 may have been replaced by KB3008273...

If you have not yet shut down your machine, or disconnected, and installation has not really started...

Get rid of on-demand tasks and uninstall updates before to do so, as previously mentioned.

BTW... One person mentioned it stopping, closing by the force of the machine with the power button... After the restart, he returned to Win 8.

I use Windows 8 home edition.  I want to keep automatic updates turned on, but I don't want my computer restarts automatically after some Windows updates are installed.

I am aware that there is a notification on the lock screen, indicating that a reboot is needed, but normally, I keep my computer on all the time and don't ever see this notification.  There are no notifications on the desktop until 15 minutes before the forced restart.  Still, he seems to be at an inopportune time and translates into loss of work.

I saw messages and articles describing the methods of disabling restarting forced on different versions of Windows by changing the registry keys or by using the Group Policy Editor.  But Windows 8 Home edition does not have the registry key mentioned nor has he a Group Policy Editor.

Is there a way to display the notification on the desktop even more in advance?

Is it possible to postpone indefinitely or completely disable the forced reboot?

I get an error message "Windows cannot find gpedit.msc", probably because I have the Home version and not Pro (even though I really don't like about the reason, I get the error, to be honest).  Which unfortunately for Member States does nothing to increase the probability that I'm going to buy the Pro version (of Win8 or any later version) and instead reduced the probability that I will never buy another product of MS at all.  If anything this behavior makes more sense to a professional (i.e. IT Department coordinated group policy settings) rather than a home setting, so for me to have no way to remove/fix this "feature" really turns me off purchase Windows for domestic use.

Access to Mac OS X Windows sharing Windows 7
Windows 7 will not work with the Mac OS X Windows support for default share file. If you try to access a shared folder on Mac OS X, W7 will display a logon error repeatedly.
The problem is that W7, by default, will only use NTLMv2 for authentication, which is not supported by the service of sharing of Windows of Mac OS x.
The other problem is that safety minimum Session for NTVLM SSP based Clients.
    To work around this problem:
    1. in W7, open the control panel
    3. double-click on Administrative Tools
4 double click on local security policy
5 expand "Local policies" and select "Security Options".
    6. locate "network security: LAN Manager Authentication Level" in the list and double-click it.
    7. change the setting of "NTMLv2 only send responses" to"send LM and NTLM - use NTLMv2 session if negotiated"

  • Force the user to fill out an interface of the window before closing

    Hi all

We already have an application written in Labwindows and we need to change to the new requirements. According to this condition, the user must provide more information before proceeding with the application. The idea is a popup window and force the user to include the information in this window. I have two questions here:

-How can I prevent the user to close the second window before entering anything (something like the concept of modal window)? He should be able to access first window that after he clicks ok in the second window, out per second.

-How to pass values between the two windows?

    Thank you

    Kanu

    Hi Kanu,

These issues concern some fundamental concepts in CVI, you need to study or refresh.

As you may know, the simpler you have a modal window in CVI is to use InstallPopup after loading the Panel: is the guarantee that the user cannot access other panels before closing the popup panel (Finally, there are other ways and a few caveats to my assertion, but let's first passing the simplest).

When the user clicks OK, close or no matter what button place you on this Panel, you need to retrieve the value of the relevant controls with GetCtrlVal, validate them some way according to the nature of the control and your needs and only if it is valid, close the Panel with DiscardPanel (or RemovePopup if you need to reuse and don't want to reload).

Passage of the second round table data is done via SetCtrlVal.

As you can see, these are very general concepts, which may or may not apply to your application. In case you have doubts please add some details to your question.

If the problem persists, then please test this behavior in a new user:

How to test with another user account

You can find out if unexpected behavior is related to the user file or a parameter in trying to reproduce the problem to a different user account. This process includes creating a new user account, connect to it and test for the issue.

    Create a test user account

    1. In the Apple menu, choose System Preferences.
    2. Click the users and groups in the System Preferences window.
    3. Click the lock icon and enter an administrator name and password.
    4. Click on the button Add (+) below the list of users.
    5. Choose a type of user in the new pop-up menu.
    6. Give the user a name and first name, account name, and password.
    7. Click OK.
    8. Close the System Preferences window.

If there are documents from your user account that you want to test with original, place a copy of these items in the shared folder in the users folder. Press the Option key while dragging a file in this folder to create a copy.

Connect to the test user account

Log out of your current user account by choosing logout in the Apple menu, and then open a session the new account that you created. If you are prompted to login with your iCloud or Apple ID account when you log in, skip this step.

    Try to reproduce the problem

Try the same steps that caused the unexpected behavior to appear. For example, if you are unable to print, try printing from this user account. If you were unable to connect to the Internet, try to navigate on a website of this user account.

If you use specific test settings depends on (for example using a specific e-mail account or an account iCloud) implemented the same test user account. For email and other parameters, you can use the Internet accounts pane in system preferences to set up these types of accounts. If your home folder files are necessary for tests, copy them into the shared folder in the users folder (/ Users/Shared). After you connect as a user test, copy these items to the same location in the test user home folder to test with.

If a problem occurs in account only one user

Is using the same steps in a user account test does not cause the same unexpected behavior, most likely you don't need to reinstall applications or OS X.

    • If a problem occurs only in a single application, check the documentation or Web site for instructions on troubleshooting specific preferences or the definition of the application files.
    • If you need help with a problem or a specific alert message, search the Apple support Web site for the text of the alert message you see.

If a problem occurs in more than one user account

If the same unexpected behavior occurs in more than one user account on your Mac, try checking for software or hardware problems.

How to test a question in another account on your Mac.

Please report back with your results so that we can continue to resolve this problem.

  • Power-exponential window in FRF

Hi, I'm trying to find a diagram to be clear, that the window exponential force does on the FRF function. If I understand well, if force is 40% and exponential is 20%, 40% at the beginning of the signal is "left alone", then the exponential Part applies only for the remaining 60%, reducing up to 20% of the highest strength reading. Is this correct? Y at - there a diagram somewhere so I can help visualize it? Thank you.

    Hi James,

I can confirm that what you said is correct. I was also able to find the previous request for service that you have raised. I repeat what was said in the email, the exponential window comes on what is in the window of the force.

  • Cost of upgrading Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials

I recently purchased Windows Server 2012 Essentials for use as a small home server.  I have not yet installed the software yet since Server 2012 R2 Essentials will be published shortly.  I do agree with Microsoft Software Assurance (SA) because it is unaffordable for my use case.

This news post tackles the new R2 software costs:
    http://www.ZDNet.com/Microsoft-ups-price-on-Windows-Server-2012-R2-Datacenter-by-28-percent-7000019168/

Is it really true that there will be absolutely no discount 2012 Essentials to the 2012 R2 Essentials Server server upgrade?  In other words, if I want to use R2, I lost only $425 on the previous version?

I'm perfectly willing to pay for the new features, but if this is actually true, it probably is the straw that will break all the time about my relationship with Microsoft.  First Windows 8, forcing me to Microsoft of viscerally uncomfortable mold UI 'Modern' (I went back to Windows 7 like everyone else), then Windows 8.1 that does nothing to address my concerns and now the news that the piece remaining of the Microsoft software that is actually good is unaffordable - it's just too.

I sincerely hope that this information is incorrect, and there will be a path to a reasonable level for customers like me who cannot afford SA and cannot afford another $500 on the server software.  Honestly, if this is the case I will consider seriously to switch to Linux.

Please tell me that there was a mistake.  I hope that we are not at an impasse in our 30-year relationship, Microsoft...

(Apparently there is no category for the Windows Server in the Microsoft community (why?), so I'm posting here in the hope to get a response.

  • HP Envy Sleekbook 4-1130us... How to install Windows 7 on new SSD

I want to replace the HD with a SSD and install Windows 7.

    Can someone confirm the process...

    (1) make HP restore discs in Windows 8

    2) download on an external device HP windows 7 drivers for the laptop

    (3) change the settings of the bios to Legacy Bios and disable secure boot.

    (4) stop and replace HD with an SSD.

    (5) install Windows 7

    Issues related to the:

No comment on my approach to the installation?

I read, that I might need a storage driver to install 7

but I do not see all these drivers listed for this laptop on windows 7. Do I need one?

I have also read that since the laptop has an SSD hd and hiding

permutation for one SSD HD requires additional settings in the bios,

people say to google, but I'm not finding the info?

I'd be happy to simply be remove the small SSD of 32 GB and use other where

or use it as a separate drive when the new main SSD is installed.

Last question, if I manage to install win7 should I ever want to sell your laptop

simply replace the original HD and SSD would win 8 reexecute.

I read that someone who tried, but a safety feature would fail to boot from the original HD?

    Thanks for any help...

    Hello:

I agree with your statements 1-5, with the amendment that there is only the W7 x 64 drivers for your laptop on its support page and driver, since HP only supports consumption patterns for the BONES of public windows into force at the time of the laptop (now Windows 8).

Therefore, based on the hardware in your PC, I recommend you to use the W7 x 64 drivers and software for this model instead.

DO NOT USE ALL DOWNLOADS OF BIOS OR FIRMWARE FROM THIS LINK

    http://h10025.www1.HP.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?OS=4063&LC=en&cc=us&DLC=en&sw_lang=&product=5274535#N608

Now, I love the idea of installing on a separate HARD drive and returning the original disc if you want to sell the laptop, or simply go back to the use of W8.

I think that if you went into the BIOS and returns settings to their default values and close the notebook before reinstalling the original drive, it should work perfectly.

If you do not change the BIOS to their default settings before installing the original drive, I tend to accept that he cannot start.

You cannot change all settings for the storage controller BIOS in your laptop.

I think with the models with these caches ssd, is by default the RAID BIOS.

If you use a Windows 7 installation disc or an ISO file that does not have SP1 media refresh, then Yes, you probably have to load a sata driver.

Here's how to confirm that your speed controller is set to (AHCI or RAID).

The simple way to check if your laptop drive controller is set to AHCI or RAID (it will be one of the two), is to do the following.

To check if the drive is set to AHCI, go to Device Manager. Look at the categories of device.

If the laptop is AHCI, there will be a category of devices IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.  Click to expand this category and you will see the name of the controller sata which are listed there.  For the chipset of your model, you should see that an Intel (r) 7 Series Chipset Family SATA AHCI Controller listed.

If your laptop drive controller is set to RAID, look further down the list of device category, and you'll see a category of storage controllers. Click to expand that, and if your laptop drive controller is set to RAID, you should see a controller Intel (r) Mobile Express Chipset SATA RAID.

Here is how you can determine which mode the inverter of your laptop SATA is configured for.

Here is the link to the sata drivers, you may need... You want to download the first file listed for W7 x 64

    https://downloadcenter.Intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&ProdId=2101&DwnldID=23060&Keyword=Intel+Rapid+Storage+Technology+(Intel+RST) & lang = fra

So here's how to install the driver...

Extract the files downloaded on a USB key.

With the flash player and the installation of W7 media connected to the computer, boot from the installation of W7 media.

After selecting the install now option, select the training - Advanced menu, Options and select the option load a driver.

You should now see the storage driver files listed.

If you check the box, it only includes the compatible driver.

Follow the prompts and should install W7.

  • Installation of Windows 7 Professional on a computer laptop windows preinstalled

So yesterday, I did a check disk on C:, but since it froze because of some damage to windows, I force shut down (I'm sorry), but when windows came after that, the internet was off because the diagnosis Services policy has been down. After awhile, I realized that half of my registry was severely damaged causing most of the main as firewall programs and some services stop and does not start again. I checked all permissions, but nothing allows me to activate the services. My computer was really slow and freezing all the time anyway so I want to reset it to factory settings, or at least format my HDD, but the problem is that my HP laptop had Windows 7 Professional pre-installed on it so I have no disk to reinstall. Now I need help or opinnions popular on what to do, please someone help me on how to reinstall windows without the disc. (Restore doesn't work either) (I checked for the virus as well)

    Hello

One option would be to create your own Windows installation disc, but you must always be able to read the activation key of 25 characters for Windows 7 Professional of your COA label - an example of a COA label can be seen here.

You can download the Disk Image, you need from the link below and use an app like ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly on a blank DVD - a guide on the use of ImgBurn to write that an ISO on a disc is here.  These Images are clean and a very respected source - Digital River.

    Images of Windows 7.

Use the disk to perform the installation, enter the activation key of Windows on the label of the COA at the request and once the installation is complete, use ' 'phone Method' described in detail in the link below to activate the operating system -this made method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who want to just have a new installation of Windows 7 without additional software load normally comes with OEM installations.

    http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-Windows-7-by-phone.aspx

All pilots additional and the software you may need are by entering either your model number. or Nr here.

    Kind regards
