Windows 8 on Windows 7 Setup error

Windows 7 on a HP Pavilion g7 lost its user profile service. I have a VAIO running Windows 8 and decided to install 8 on the HP. I changed the boot sequence to boot from the DVD drive. I have chosen the language, accepted the terms of the license and choose the upgrade option to keep my files and applications.

Following the instructions, I removed the drive and rebooted. It started Windows 7, same problem. This was the case in 32-bit and 64-bit.

The upgrade option does not work by booting from the disc. You do this by starting the Windows of Windows 7 installation program.

Regarding the corrupted user profile, see the following resources:

Corrupt user profile:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/create-a-user-account

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile

After you have done this, you should be able to start the upgrade to Windows 7:

  • Windows XP Setup error: the file ohci134.sys is corrupted?

I was on my computer when my power cut off, and now it used to boot past the Windows XP loading screen, so I inserted the windows disk to run a chkdsk command or a repair, but I get the error: the file ohci134.sys is corrupted. Press a key to reboot the computer. »
It won't let me access to the CD-ROM to install windows because of this error, and I can not boot past the windows loading screen! He's going to enter the safe mode options but whatever one I choose, it flashes a quick blue screen which says UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME. How can I fix?

This is a nice article if it starts your desire to install the as option to start Recovery Console, your system and that you have a genuine XP installation CD bootable that corresponds to your installation.

Here, the system does not start, there is no installation of the Console recovery and most people either have no real XP bootable installation CD or if they don't have one, it's older than their Service Pack installed.

Unfortunately, we don't know anything about this system which is afflicted, except that it's a computer that no longer starts.  A little more detail would help, but that's the way things happen here in MS Answers forums.

I just make a bootable CD of XP (no XP media required) Recovery Console and use it.

    Here's how:

    So, let's start with this:

The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination? (This includes the plug pulling, buttons power and removing the battery).

These can cause corruption in the file system that must be fixed before you do anything else.

If none of these events occurred (or even if they have not taken place), you must verify the integrity of your file system before anything else (especially "try" things).

There is zero logic to begin to try to begin to try to modify or copy files to a hard drive that has a corrupted file system, so this must first be fixed using the XP chkdsk program and run chkdsk on your hard drives may solve your problem completely.

Use the XP Recovery Console to check the file system on your HARD drive and fix the problems and then try to start your system - this may be all you need to do.  Or, you are welcome to just start trying things that might work.

Boot into the Recovery Console Windows using an XP bootable installation CD.

If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.

This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.

You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.

The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:

    xp_rec_con. ISO

    Download the ISO from here:

    http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig

Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:

    http://www.ImgBurn.com/

When you install ImgBurn, DO NOT install the Ask toolbar.

Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:

    http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61

It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.

You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive.  These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load.  If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.

When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:

Press any key to boot from CD...

    Installing Windows... going to pronounce.

Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.

Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)

You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).

You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS.  It's the same as the

C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.

The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.

For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:

    http://www.Microsoft.com/resources/documentation/Windows/XP/all/proddocs/en-us/recovery_console_cmds.mspx?mfr=true

A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.

In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.

Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem.  It won't hurt anything to run it.

Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:

    CHKDSK C: /r

Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.

It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck".  Be patient.  If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something.  Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress.  It may even seem to go back sometime.

You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.

Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.

You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

    The TRUE ANSWER is:

Go to your panel of control Windows and your "regional and language Option' value 'English (United States).
In the "Advanced" tab also make sure your "language for non-Unicode programs" to "English (United States)" too.

It works for all versions of Windows XP to 7, versions both 32 bit & 64 bit.

Original title: tried to update computers rose to 12%

    Hi Sandra,.

Thanks for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

You did it any significant hardware or change software on the computer before this problem?

I understand that you can not install some updates with the error message "failure of configuration of the Windows updates...". ». I can imagine the disadvantages suffered by you and will certainly help you in the right direction to solve the problem.

First place, according to the error message, I suggest you to try the steps in the following article and check if it helps.

"Configuration of the Windows updates failed. Restoration of the changes. Do not turn off your computer"error when you try to install Windows updates

Note: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

The question may arise if the Windows downloaded update packages are corrupt. So, if you are able to boot to the desktop with the help of the above article, I also suggest you try the following steps and check if the problem persists.

    Method 1:

Try to run that Windows update utility provided in the following link.

    Problems with installing updates

Try to install the updates after running the troubleshooter.

If the problem persists, try the following method.

    Method 2:

I suggest you to use Deployment Image Servicing and Management to fix Windows Update errors.

    (a) open an elevated command prompt. To do this, press the Windows key + Q and type in CMD right click on command prompt in the list and select run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

    (b) type the following commands. Press enter after each command

    • DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
    • DISM.exe / Online/Cleanup-image /Restorehealth

    (c) close the command prompt, and then run Windows Update again.

    Check if the problem persists.

  • Windows 7 Ox80070017 Setup error

Good then I got an installation disc that made the files it contains and appear on my computer but I have a new problem now in which an error pops up saying that some files are not which is really unfortunate. The error code I get is: Ox80070017

original title: Windows 7 Setup error

    Hi Mohamed Kebbay,

Error code 0 x 80070017 means generally bad media. I would recommend that you download the file again, you may have corruption in ISO itself. So if possible, download the file again. After you download the new copy, try burning at a lower setting 4 X or 8 X speed. Once you burn the disc on a lower setting with the new ISO standard, and then see if you can install Windows 7.

See installation and reinstallation of Windows 7 for more information on installing Windows 7.

  • Cannot install Dreamweaver CS4 on WIndows 7.  Setup error

I can't install Dreamweaver CS4 on WIndows 7.  I get a vague error that says: Setup error, sontact Adobe customer service. Customer service Adobe refuses to help me.  That really bothers me.

First of all, I want to thank the people who have responded to my message.  I am impressed by your desire to help and interest to my problem of extreemly.  Thank you very much! I appreciate it.

I've not seen a way to get a transcript of my cat.  I should have it printed at the end of my cat. Overall, I think my concerns are with Windows itself and also how Adobe as a company manages a call from someone who gets a Setup error that says "call Adobe customer service. I bought this program runs on Windows 7 and I'm installing on a Windows 7 computer. I think that if Adobe will give a vague error message and tell you to contact them, they should give me more help "your product is too old, good luck on the forums. I could see if I call and ask him how to do something, maybe that my product is too old for this, but I think their reaction was unacceptable.  I hope that enough other people are complaining so that Adobe changed this policy.

Wow, it took a lot of time to deal with. I guess it's mainly a Windows file permissions problem, but I think that Adobe should a property for a client to have to spend many HOURS trying to install their program on the operating system original they bought the program for.

Certainly, I don't like the way Adobe Dreamweaver Setup treats errors. Here are the facts as I know them.

When Setup fails during installation, installation subsequesnt would fail, but it would give a VERY cryptic error indicating that the installation has failed and I need to contact Adobe customer service.

In order to re - install, I had to uninstall.  Naturally my UN-installs failed every time, too. After much trial and error and audit of the forumns, I found installation of program under c:\programs files. I deleted them, rebooted, uninstalled with no error.  Then I could re - install without the vague error "contact Adobe customer service.  Note that I had to reinstall several times to get to the bottom of the problem installation so it takes too much time to understand.

In the end, I had to manually delete the C:\Windows\Installer to get Dreamweaver to install.  It took a lot of time to understand, too.  It is always installed with errors, but he says that Dreamweaver would work with limited functionality. So far, it's good enough for me and I'm tired of non-billable expenses on that.

Following is one of the main erros I've had when you first install failed.  IF ANYONE KNOWS EXACTLY WHY MY INSTALLATION NO WAS NOT I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW.  IT SEEMS THAT IT IS NOT HAVE THE OPERATING SYSTEM PERMISSIONS TO ACCESS THESE FILES, BUT THIS IS NOT POSSIBLE THAT THE PROGRAM IS INSTALLED AS AN ADMINISTRATOR. Any thoughts?

Thanks again to all who helped!
