ColdFusion 64-bit windows installation stops working after the recent microsoft updates and how I worked around it.

My question is at the end.

Deploying coldfusion 9 enterprise 64-bit on a trial version Windows 2003 64 bit what OS with OS data center all updates from MS (at 07/04/2011).

Measures taken (remember, this is all 64-bit):

    1. the installed the base OS that has been slipstreamed with SP2.

2 checked w / microsoft and 63 OS updates installed.

    3. launch the exe of the trial CF9.

    4. as soon as the first screen (the one that looks like it's the extraction of files) then finished the second screen (the one that says simply SEE Adobe Coldfusion 9) and the progress bar moves quickly 95% to the right and the installation application closes. No error, no nothing. No log file either.

    5. after a moment of silence disbelief (and a new attempt/reboot, etc.), I started to google. I found nothing. However, I found a post (thanks dspent!) which is useful in what he says how he managed to get a log file of all kinds, first extract the coldfusion_9_WWE_win64.exe file and launch the adobe_cf.exe by hand.  (Snafu Dspent install was different from mine, but his position has been very valuable and started me in the right direction.)

    6. has obtained a copy of the file rarunzipper and extracted from the coldfusion_9_WWE_win64.exe .

    7. in the windows directory created in step 6, I have launched adobe_cf.exe.

    8. the same thing (, the installation application closes. No error, no nothing. Log file No.).

    9. I look at the hs_err_pidxxxx.log file (where the xxxx is a number).

    10. I see inside this file, a disturbing message: 'a fatal error has been detected by the Java Runtime' then ' framework issue ntdll.dll ' , then ' the accident happened outside the Virtual Machine Java to native code ".

    11. OK, now I'm thinking ntdll.dll. Native code! It's like Java tells me that for some reason any, that he can't dance with the operating system.

    12. on a hunch, I decided to test a CF install again on a server with just the installation of SP2 64 W3K3 (ie: skip step 2 above this time).

13 bingo! That the installation works.

    14. as a result, one of the 63 patches that I had downloaded from MS had triggered a problem with Setup see

    15. back on the first server (with MS installed security patches and that CF installs not on). In the adobe_cf.lax of file CF (one of the files extracted in step 6), there is a line that mentions where the installation gets it is java. Find this file, and check java version Installer uses. It is using 1.6.0_14 - b08.

    16. on the way to the Java website, and there is a newer version of java (1.6.0_24 - b07). Downloaded and installed IT.

    17. change a line in adobe_cf.lax :
    front
    lax.nl.current.vm=resource\\jre\\bin\\java.exe
    After
    Lax.nl.Current.VM=C:\\Program files\\java\\jre6\\bin\\java.exe

(this assumes that you leave step 16 install to the default location)
    Save the file.

    18. run installation ... * IT WORKS ! *

Obviously, the built-in java provided with the installation of the CF program is no longer compatible with some changes introduced by a recent update of MS on SP2 64 b. W2K3 platform

And now comes the interesting part. Although I made the installer to use the new java, it had not incorporated into the generation of CF (ie: in following, you see always c:/coldfusion9/execution/jre AND the java.exe version that is located in this directory is the original version, not the latest version, I forced the installation program to use).

On the surface, CF looks OK, but I did not test any application yet.

    And finally my
    * QUESTION *.
Var java.home would be appropriate just to point to the new java directory? I see that the structure of directories and files are not exactly the same (well close) so I am certainly not break things by doing this, but instinct tells me that if the installer beat using the old version, then something else will bring down the road if I do not use the new version. On the other hand, the differences between files and directories is enough that it makes me very nervous with my skill set java limitied to make that decision.

    Thanks in advance!
    Byron

    Hi Byron,

Wow great post no doubt much of the information will be useful for those who have Win03 SP2 +. Must say not come across the similar problem on Win08 r2 SP1 +.

So, to your question. Adobe (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/894/cpsid_89440.html) security bulletin recommends to run CF8 and CF9 with JVM 1.6.0_24. The bulletin does not say how to do this. I take you installed the JDK and not only JRE 1.6.0_24? After installation of monitoring JDK as follows:

Stop the CF - stop SERVICES.msc "ColdFusion 9 application server.

Take a copy of CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config - so you have a backup.

Change the line CF\runtime\bin\jvm.config find "java.home =" and comment it for example:

    #java.home=C:/ColdFusion9/runtime/jre

Add the new line like and save next:

    Java.Home = C: / Program Files/Java/jdk1.6.0_24/jre

Note he slashes and the location of the JRE (runtime): you must point to that of JDK, because the other JRE in C:\Program Files\Java\jre6 will be missing a DLL.

    Start CF via SERVICES.msc.

    HTH, Carl.

  • Cannot install the update - Windows 7 64 bit (windows installer error - program might not work)

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I'm unable to install updates for iTunes (last successful update was my PC itunes 12.2.2.25 64 bit). The error message I get when you try to run the downloaded exe file from apple is: 'there is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your supplier of staff or the package of support ". Please indicate what the problem is and how I can fix. I am not able to backup or synchronize my devices (for example iphone 6 sec) over to my PC as it is said that iTunes must be 12.3 or higher. Thank you - Bryan

Try to repair the Apple Software Update of the programs and features Control Panel, and then reinstall iTunes.

For general advice, see troubleshooting problems with iTunes for Windows updates.

The steps described in the second case are a guide to remove everything related to iTunes and then rebuild what is often a good starting point, unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach.

Review the other boxes and other support documents list to the bottom of the page, in case one of them applies.

More information area has direct links with the current and recent buildings if you have problems to download, must revert to an older version or want to try the version of iTunes for Windows (64-bit-for old video cards) as a workaround for problems with installation or operation, or compatibility with QuickTime software or a third party.

Backups of your library and device should be affected by these measures but there are links to backup and recovery advice there.

  • Impossible to activate the DC AA after the end of the trial period. Chatted for an HOUR and she had windows setup error. Cat then "referred to as specialist ' and chat over on that date.

I'm a little ANGRY. I have AA X that allows me to update and buy AA DC.  I bought DC AA after the trial period.  I was unable to activate the program.  Chatted with representative for 1 HOUR. She did just what I had done on several occasions to get Adobe Acrobat DC activated and failed. She did a good job that she finally got the Windows Installer error: "this installation package would not open. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package. "Now there is no way to use even the DC AA naked without the tools. • OBIEE on 64-bit Windows 7?  Why it is more difficult than Cognos, Qlikview and table?

Hi - Can you if you please clarify this in detail... I have some questions while 11 g OBIEE installation on windows 7, 64-bit version...
Can you please provide instructions step-by-step with screenshots (if possible) set. I tried all the available sites... but still the problems and it consumes a lot of time...
    I downloaded...
Version for Java-> and the path of the folder is c:\java
    Java version "1.7.0_10".
Java (TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.7.0_10 - b18)
    Java for 64-bit Server VM (build 23, 6 - b04, mixed mode)
-> You can please keep us posted of Environment Variables that we support on Windows 7 computers. All variables Temp, Java and other records that were needed.

    WebLogic Version downloaded on OTN:_

    Path of the temporary folder_
    c:\Temp.
    Version OBIEE downloaded:_

Please let me know your thoughts... Thank you very much for your time... Hi guys - Am finally able to install OBIEE11g...
Under the link were the prerequisites to make 100% sure for installing windows 7 64 bit.
    http://OracleBI.blog.com/OBIEE-11-1-1-6-installation/
To come to the questions that I did...
For the Installation of Enterprise Edition (Option 2 in the GUI Setup screen) *.
    (1.) I had "jdk1.7.0_10" installed in the folder "C:\Java".
Which tent to install OBIEE 11.1 it install weblogic version '10.3.5' because it is not compatible with "jdk1.7.0_10" had questions.
    To install only software *.
1.), I had to download and install "wls1036_generic.jar" from OTN.
You must make sure that install you it by following the steps below, but not just by double clicking on it... because it's a kind of 32-bit Setup by double clicking (yaa this is odd) even if you expect a 64-bit.
    a.) open the command prompt
    (b) go to the folder where 'java-jar wls1036_generic.jar' has been installed
    (c.) and then run 'java-jar wls1036_generic.jar ".
    Other issues *.
1.) turn off the Windows Firewall during Installation.
    2.) uninstall Antivirus
Not sure about the credibility of the two points above, fell on some sites I'm tired of trying all options and at some point... I turned off them and never their return on...
Source *: various Web sites on the basis of different errors and mix for the Info, try different options to resolve an error/problem.
Hope it will be useful to someone... I still say that Installation is not as simple as other BI tools on the market.

  • Windows 7 Professional 64-bit: Windows Update error Code 8E5E03FA

Okay, so I got Windows Update problems now for at least two months. I have worked with Microsoft technical support by e-mail and phone, but so far have had no luck, so I was hoping someone here might have an answer or an idea.

My computer has started giving 8E5E03FA error Code whenever I try to install windows updates. It would also sit at a standstill for always "checking for updates... "when I start updating windows. She has also always updates installed during shutdown, even if they never seem to install correctly. To try to remedy this situation, I tried a clean boot, I tried to use the tool of analysis of Windows 7, I tried to download the updates manually (they wouldn't install with error C80003FA), I tried to use the fixit tool to reset update windows (in aggressive and non-aggressive mode), I tried to manually reset windows update I ran ' sfc/scannow' (which has found errors that it could not solve), I tried an upgrade on the spot, and finally, I tried a clean install.

Once installed the clean, with nothing else installed, it wouldn't install updates, new fails with the error Code 8E5E03FA. It installs the office updates very well, he moved some other updates of the ms software very well, it installs the driver updated very well, but it seems not be able to install windows updates at all. At this point, there are 44 sitting in the pending updates, updates will be installed, which cannot be.

My computer also takes a lot of time to load completely once connected. The Office will be, but my anti-virus and the wifi won't start or connect to between 3-5 minutes after the connection, and trying to open anything during this period will not work. It seems that something is happening in the background that I'm not aware of.

Before the clean install, I ran the Windows 7 compatibility check and checked everything. So I'm at the end of my rope here, I don't really have any ideas on what to do. I put the windows update log and cbs logs if this will help.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.

  • Railroad Tycoon 2 on Windows 7 error - setup.exe cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit Windows versions

I'm playing the game "Railroad Tycoon 2-Gold edition" on my laptop which is running Windows 7. Whenever I try to install it, he repeats to me - "the program or feature? \G:\_setup\setup.exe cannot start or run due to incompatibility with 64-bit Windows versions"... .and there is nothing I can't do to go around that at all.  Normally with my old games I can at least install, then just then change to be compatible and is not, but I can not here. Any help would be great I want to play this game, it's one of my favorites and I hate how I can't play everything simply because computers are better than them... If this is the case, then they should still be able to support games that are 10 + years older than them, you know? I can add more information if needed, thank you.

You must contact the manufacturer to see if they have a patch for Windows 7. He would come by the manufacturer and not by Microsoft.

    Thank you
