Windows 8 - unsigned drivers?
To run this technology preview, you must uninstall previous versions of workstation before installing this software. Please note that the drivers included in this survey have NOT been signed and invites you accordingly during the installation.
I see public forecast says it uses drivers unsigned - before you go ahead and remove my installation could present someone please confirm that it is possible to install on Windows 8 64 preview with drivers unsigned despite a uefii boot process.
I was under the impression that it is just not possible.
The drivers are signed, they have simply not WHQL certification. Microsoft requires that the drivers are signed with a type of digital signature to load on 64 bit versions of Windows Vista and newer - if the driver has this signature, it will load, but Windows will display a prompt in the normal installation, unless the driver has passed the WHQL certification, in which case it gets signature from Microsoft that allows it to take in silent mode.
Boot BIOS or UEFI does not affect this.

RTM of Windows 8 Synaptics / drivers Ultranav
I tried to install the Synaptics drivers at http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.page?DocID=DS027686#os
for Windows 8 (RTM) on my W520 but the installation fails.
These drivers work only on consumer Preview or Preview Release versions?
Tim
Pilots work on RTM very well, but to install them, change the boot options to allow the installation of unsigned drivers. This can be done in the OS selection during the boot process screen - select Advanced, additional boot parameters or something like that - then after the reboot, you should get to the screen where you can choose to enter safe mode, as well as to disable signed driver checking. Then the drivers installed correctly and work very well.

I just bought a new HP PC with Intel E5300 without experiencing compatibility issues with several current VPN as well as blocking drivers not signed properly. I heard of the Virtual PC as well as the ability to install Vista 32. Read the above info on drivers.
The driver signing Unsigned drivers can be used with 32-bit versions of Windows Vista. 64 bit versions of Windows Vista require that all device drivers be digitally signed by the developer. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Hi, recently when I start my laptop I get the following pop-up message: lack of C:\WINDOWS\System32\spool\DRIVERS\W32X86\3\LXCItime.dll entry: RunDLLEntry.
The only new program, I installed was a Lexmark printer, contacted Lexmark and with the help of a tech has established that the driver was installed correctly and it says that the pop-up message was a Windows problem.
that declares the message, it's that it can't find the file named: LXCItime.dll
According to the windows registry, which would have been changed and updated by lexmark software, the above file is saved in the registry, but it is not in the physical location on the disk.
my suggestion is to unplug the printer from the pc then uninstall the lexmark software, then restart.
Then, connect the printer to the pc and see if windows can automatically install the driver. If this isn't the case, then it will ask your lexmark cd or you will need to run the Add/Remove Hardware Control Panel and manually try to install the driver for it.

What make and model of printer you have?
It could be virus/malware related butI I think this may just be caused by the drivers of your printer,
Make sure your machine is pest free, run a MalwareBytes scan on your computer: http://www.malwarebytes.org/
If the machine comes out clean reinstall your printer drivers.
