Windows Defender has suddenly shown oin my system!
Hi people,
I just found out that Windows Defender is now installed in my BONES! I have Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit and I had to load fresh a disk when I bought my new HP about 1.5 years. I have Windows Security Essentials and never asked the Windows Defender.
I have headaches that began suddenly on my processor capacity to maintain a good racing game of MS FSX. Without going into irrelevant documents, please take my word for it when I say that I've been running this game FSX beautifully for 7 months. Then a few days ago I find myself in the middle of a system failure after another. I kept is interrupting my sliders of landscapes and other tuning adjustments that come with FSX, but I always kept crashing!
Among other things/tools, I use AMD Fusion and set to provide maximum performance while maintaining the ability to connect to the Internet. As I was searching through the profile that indicates which programs are still ongoing and which are not, I suddenly saw Windows Defender!
It is not supposed to be on this system and is in direct contradiction with MSE as I understood when I loaded the MSE way back when. Windows Defender does not appear in the list of not installable programs via the control panel method.
So, how to uninstall it? Not so important (but also disturbing), is why it's on my system in the first place? But I really need to know how to get rid of. For the moment I turned it off using the control panel systems via the Task Manager by choosing "disable".
In this Panel, there is a box that says this: "C:\Windows\System32\svchost.exe k secsvcs", under the statement 'path to the executable. But I don't know what I can do with him really, (in part because I don't know what it means "Path to executable"). I was going to track down the record and if possible rename the exe file. Anyone think this can work?
I read somewhere something about not being able to uninstall Win Def in victory & and Vista systems, but I don't know if it's true. Then perhaps rename it will keep 'rising from the dead. "
Thank you.
Here are my computer info if this is useful:

My Windows Defender has been damaged. I would like to install a more recent version.
My Windows Defender does not work. I tried everything, including playing with the registry. Nothing helps. Why Vista users cannot download newer versions of programs such as Defender? Here's what I've tried: 1. I changed the permissions, 2. I disabled UAC, 3. I enabled it in the Task Manager, 4. I was able to make changes in the Configuration of the system, 5. I went in the tech blogs and tried their suggestions. It was a big mistake. I followed the advice of an "expert" and delete the values. Now, instead of a message telling me that I don't have group permission, I have an error message telling me that the Defender has had a catastrophic mistake. I even wrote down the original binary code, but it will not accept it. I NEED A NEW WINDOWS DEFENDER NOW!
In addition, you can't just re - install Windows Defender - he belongs to Vista and cannot be uninstalled or re-installed separately. To re - install Windows Defender, you have to reinstall Vista itself. You use an AV program that don't turn off Windows Defender and it still does not post then back with the name and version of the AV program you are currently using, and we will try to find the cause and a solution.
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Bucket ID: 29795427Hi 1pinktink,
Welcome to Microsoft answers forums!
a. What is the exact error message that you receive?
b. don't you make changes to the computer before this problem?
c. what anti-virus program you installed on the computer?
This problem may occur if there is a conflict between windows defender and the security software installed on the computer.
I suggest you try the following steps:
Step 1: Disable security software, follow the steps mentioned below
http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows7/disable-antivirus-software
Note: Activate security software back once the test is completed.
Step 2: The System File Checker (SFC) utility allows administrators to perform an analysis of all protected resources to make sure they are the correct version. Whether SFC should find all incorrect versions in one of these protected resources, SFC will be replaced by the correct versions.
You can still run a SFC scan on the windows vista computer. To run a scan suite SFC as follows:
a. Click Start, in the start search bar type cmd, right-click on the command prompt icon in the box programs and then click Run as administrator.
b. at the command prompt type sfc/scannow , and then press ENTER.
Step 3: Install the latest updates for windows defender
To check updates in Windows Defender, follow these steps:
1. start Windows Defender if it is not already open. To do this, click Start, click programs, and then click Windows Defender.
2 search for new definitions. To do this, click search for updates now

Windows defender has been disabled and can not activate
Windows defender is off... try to market and waiting and a box that says time appears which can make
If you have Microsoft Security Essentials, AVG, McAfee, Norton, etc. installed, they have a conflict with Windows Defender, or turn it off.
Microsoft Security Essentials has its own integrated version of the defender and it automatically disables the version of Windows Vista defender.
If it's not:

Turn Windows Defender on or off the information on the link above of Microsoft.

Hello osamanaiem56,
Thanks for posting on the Microsoft answers Forum.
I recommend that you look at the solutions of the following missions:
http://social.technet.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/itprovistaapps/thread/f5536f2d-ACEB-41A5-beb6-92e5d3b2f73fIf this does not help then try the following suggestion:
Right click on command prompt and run as administrator. Type the following command:
WinMgmt /verifyrepository
If the system returns "referential WMI is not consistent", run this command:
WinMgmt /salvagerepository
The first time you run this operation fails. (It will assign orders to stop services leading to failure. "This may take a few minutes for the services to stop). Run the command again. You may in fact need to run 3 times before finally runs and ends on its own.
Reboot your system.If please reply back and let us know if it helped to solve your problem or if you still need help.
Sincerely,
Marilyn

I need help restoring Windows Vista on my computer. Please help this is finals week and I need my computer to take my final.
Vista recovery media obtain and/or use the Partition Recovery Vista on your computer to the factory settings .
There is no Vista free download legal available.
Contact your computer manufacturer and ask them to send a recovery disk/s Vista set.
Normally, they do this for a cost of $ small.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In addition, ask them if you have a recovery Partition on your computer/laptop to restore it to factory settings.
See if a manual provided with the computer or go to the manufacturer's website, email or you can call for information on how to make a recovery.
Normally, you have to press F10 or F11 at startup to start the recovery process...
Another way I've seen on some models is press F8 and go to a list of startup options, and launch a recovery of standards of plant with it, by selecting the repair option.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Also ask them if it is possible to make the recovery disk/s since the Partition of recovery in case of hard drive failure or System Crash when you're back running.
They will tell you how to do this.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every computer manufacturer has their own way of making recovery disk/s.
Or borrow a good Microsoft Vista DVD (not Dell, HP, etc).
A good Vista DVD contains all versions of Vista.
The product key determines which version of Vista is installed.There are 2 disks of Vista: one for 32-bit operating system, and one for 64-bit operating system.
If install a cleaning is required with a good DVD of Vista (not HP, Dell recovery disks):
Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu
Now, he opens with "not responding". I can open it in safe mode but nothing works. The button "restore" & "start new session" does not work. It does not connect to any web site. I had a lot of tabs open when it crashed. There is no crash report (latest is 6 weeks ago).
If this does not work in mode without failure, then disable all extensions and then try to find out who is the cause by allowing both the problem reappears.
- Choose "Disable all add-ons" on issues to troubleshoot Firefox in Safe Mode to set window to disable all extensions.
- Close and restart Firefox after each change through "file > exit ' (Mac: ' Firefox > leave";) Linux: "file > exit ')
Create a new profile as a test to see if your profile is the source of the problems.
See "basic troubleshooting: a new profile:
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "tools > Modules > Extensions & Plugins" in case there are still problems.
If this new profile works then you can transfer files from the old profile to the new profile, but make sure not to copy corrupted files.
