Windows DVD Maker on Vista freezes at 40% on the project, only small projects will burn successfully.

I am running Windows DVD Maker on a Vista PC.  When I start the burn sequence the coding process will continue at 40% and then the application freezes.  My initial project was 125 minutes of capacity DVD 150 minutes.  I tried to burn a small project in 58 minutes and successfully completed.  No idea why I can't use more than the ability of the DVD?  All I can do to fix this?  I'm running a new HP with a Phenom x 4 processor, 64-bit, and I've got important of RAM and hard drive space available.

Usually a single layer 4.7 GB DVD white held an hour of high
quality video. With compression, some programs are capable of
the extension of this period. I don't know exactly what is DVD Maker
capable of in that regard I think 150 minutes it is really pushing.

Large and complex projects usually cause problems. Best bet IMHO
would be to create several small projects and publish (save) each
a WMV format movie to a folder on your hard drive.

Then import the WMV files collected in DVD Maker and each of them
becomes a scene (chapter), you can have up to 18 scenes.

Without a doubt... video editing and DVD burning can be a frustrating business.

Good luck with your project.

  • Why Windows DVD Maker keep crashing?

I try to start Windows DVD Maker with VISTA Home Premium.
Sometimes, it encodes only 3% and then crashes, IE closed its doors completely, suddenly without nessage or warning. Sometimes, he makes 30% or 60% and then hangs. And sometimes, it works perfectly, an hour or more DVDS. It seems to do a few minutes of DVD.
In case it's a matter of heating, I brushed all that I can see inside and checked the fans. I remove the side panel and blow with a fan domestic as well during the encoding.
    Help please.
Following advice by the way, I tried to convert a Movie Maker project file a.wmv, but crashed in the same way. Is the problem in the coding mechanism?

I installed speedfan , and it showed a temperature of 78 C in the CPU and a warning sign. The temperature seems to be creeping upward soon. Overheating is the problem and there is something else to dust?

The real reason was that the CPU thermal compound round had perished, so if you have problems that do not seem to be associated with fan, heater contact a competent PC repairman instead of naffing on this site.

  • Why the version of Windows 7 to Windows DVD Maker product a blurry video of Windows Live Movie Maker?

When I do a DVD (using Windows DVD Maker) of a film produced by Windows Live Movie Maker photos are blurred and contained very low quality video.  The photos that I use in the project are very sharp, as is the video that I use in the project.

The movie makes WLMM project is strong on the computer but when it is published on the DVD in Windows DVD Maker it produces a result blur this film as seen on the computer and any DVD player.  It's nothing to do with transitions because the film WLMM is strong.  Other DVD manufacturers produce a sharp image of the film WLMM even, but I prefer the way Windows DVD Maker makes the DVD with scenes, etc...

The problem seems to lie with the WLMM. creating Windows DVD DVD movie conversion - are they incompatible?  This seems to happen with the version of Windows 7, everything worked fine with versions of Vista on my old computer.  I find it very frustrating to have this return back.  Please suggest a solution.  The version of WLMM is Version 2011 (Build 15.4.3502.0922); I can't find a version number for Windows DVD Maker.

    Update:

Thanks to Irfan for a potential solution.  I did another DVD with all the filters off but unfortunatey it made no difference.  Having had another close watch the DVD video, the problem is to double everything up like a photo on a slow speed where you have shaking of the camera.  In particular, a girl with wire rim glasses has a rim double wire and even a girl with hair each double strand.  When further looked at what gives the appearance of an image finery.  Again, I must say that the film from which the DVD-video has been done had this failure and from DVD of this film by any other manufacturer of DVD Windows DVD Maker does not exhibit this problem.  The operating system is Windows 7.

    Hello Charley Farley,

    1. What is the operating system installed on your computer?

You may experience this problem of there are incompatible filters installed on your computer. I suggest that you turn off the filters and check if you have the same problem.

    2. in the case of Viewer click Windows logs in the left panel

I just finished creating a dvd in Windows DVD Maker. He played very well on the PC and burn to my DVD - R Memorex without problem.  However, now that he's in my Toshiba DVD player, nothing happens.  I have a black and white screen with down right a small square box, color.  No display of numbers on reading DVD player.  The Toshiba site indicates that it should play DVD-r.  Need of this DVD to a presentation in a few days.  What's wrong???!!!

I'm not sure at 100%, but something similar happened to me when I created a movie in windows movie maker.
what I had to do was to convert the file to an AVI file that I was able to do as part of the utility of movie maker, and then import the file into a dvd creator software utility called (dvd Creator free 2) and then I could read in my dvd player. It is a download free .you corresponds to the URL if you want to give it a try http://www.minidvdsoft.com/dvdcreator/ hope this helps.

Cannot get my downloaded music to be recognised by Windows DVD Maker, when I try to add to the slideshow.  Sample music (which came preloaded with the computer) is the only music he recognizes when I go to add music.  I guess it's a problem of recognition of format, but I don't know how to download in a format that will work.

    ==========================================
Might be worth trying to convert your music files to the
format .wma before importing in creation of DVD.

There are to many free converters available on the net...
download from Koyotesoft is an example:

(FWIW... it's always a good idea to create a system)
Restore point before installing software or updates)

    Koyotesoft "Free MP3 WMA Converter".
    http://www.koyotesoft.com/indexEn.html
(FWIW if you install the converter, you can uncheck
offerings from Yahoo and Dealio) (also... you can uncheck
the CD Ripper and Easy MP3 Cutter)

After installing the program... open and drag and drop
your audio files on the main screen...

Choose a backup folder (path of output). Or just leave...
"Save to the directory the file" checked and the new
files will be saved in the folder with the current files.

    Choose a format...

    Left, click Convert.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello southcecile,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers Site.

The .vob file format is not a supported format file Windows DVD maker. You can try to convert the video files to a supported file format and then try to burn the DVD still. Windows DVD Maker supports digital video files in WMV or AVI container format.

  • Windows DVD Maker error message unknown

This is a frustrating problem I have with Windows DVD Maker that no one can seem to explain. I have a new computer, less than a month, running Windows 7. I tried to burn clips of film on DVD for various friends and family. I have finished 3 or 4 DVD with success. All of a sudden, during the burning process, I get to a point approximately 0.3 to 0.4 percent encoded when I get an error message that the DVD cannot be done due to an unspecified error. All that fresh, new, with the package of disk I'm trying to use ends up with the same message. The clips have not changed, filters have not changed, settings have not changed, I just did with some success without problem, now, all of a sudden, it cannot burn discs more. That's happened?  What should I do about it?

    Hello

Follow these steps and check whether the problem is resolved.

    Method 1:

Try to increase your capacity of RAm on your computer and check if it solves the problem.

    Method 2:

You can follow this link forum below.
    http://social.answers.Microsoft.com/forums/en-us/w7music/thread/45baa19b-642a-43a8-A1B3-f8918f353192

    Method 3:

This question (and others) can be caused by a video filter that might be using the file. To work around this problem, you can try to disable one or more video filters in Windows DVD Maker. For more information on the video and rotating filters or desactiver disable in Windows DVD Maker, see video filters in Windows DVD Maker: frequently asked questions.

To enable the filters, off, or to restore the default list of filters:

    1. open Windows DVD Maker by clicking on the button start the picture of the Start button. In the search box, type DVD Maker and then in the list of results, click Windows DVD creation.
    2. in the turn your digital memories in a DVD page, click Choose photos and videos.
    3. on the Add pictures and video to the DVD page, click Options.
    4. click on the Compatibility tab.
    5. do one of the following:
    * To turn off a filter, clear the check box next to the filter name.
    * To enable a filter, select the check box next to the filter name.
    * To restore the default list, click on restore all default values.

When you restore the default settings, the list and the filters settings are given to the last known good setting.

    6. click OK to close the DVD Options dialog box, and then continue to make your DVD.

  • have windows on Vista Developer, tried to install Windows DVD maker but doesn't seem to work, cannot publish the movie on DVD HELP

I have the windows Director, went to Microsoft and tried to download Windows DVD maker but does not appear to have installed despite me try it 3 times, all I want to do is publish a movie!

On Vista, Windows DVD Maker requires that you have Windows Vista Home Premium or Windows Vista Ultimate Edition.  If you have one of these versions, you should already have Windows DVD Maker and Windows Movie Maker 6.0.  These versions of Windows Vista are required to have copies under license from MPEG-2 to make a video DVD.

I was not aware of a separate installer for Windows DVD Maker, so I suspect you look at something of a 3rd site part. If it is a Microsoft site, can provide you the address you use?
