"Windows Explorer has stopped working" - help!
Running Vista HP, sp 2.
Firewall on the router & McAfee.
WE automatic updates of windows
In the last two days, I get "Windows Explorer has stopped working" pretty constantly. Not the kind of endless loop, just whenever I try to use it, it will give the errmsg, close, claim that it restarts and fail to do so.
I've had a scout quick tour here for solutions and tried all that is obvious:
(1) run the System File Checker (Nothing found)
(2) run chkdsk (Nothing found)
(3) installed and run a-squared (found nothing)
(4) off the display of thumbnails (past again)
(5) started in SafeMode (past again)
FWIW, a few other applications have the same problem, for example Adobe Acrobat will crash all trying to save a file, to the point where it's the folder view. And Acrobat and Windows Explorer are broken only if you try to display all drives on the computer. If you start to US at a lower level, in 'my documents' therefore very well with what he shows you. If you then scroll down to 'computer' and click to enlarge, this is the point where it crashes.
However, other applications (such as Word) can access and save items to this level, for example I can save a word doc on my phone as another drive of the word itself, although if I tried to slide anywhere in US it would be crushed before I could even see the phone was there.
My hunch is that it started with what seems to be a Windows Update absolutely unrelated to C++ security two days ago. But it could be a complete diversion.
Any ideas? I'm reaching the end of my tether here.

Hi Roar4life88
1. for how long have you been faced with this problem?
2. did you of recent changes on the computer?Method 1:
You can perform a scan SFC and check. To Perform a Scan SFC -
a. click Start, click programs, on Accessoriesprincipally made, right click guestand then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow
b. type the following command and press ENTER:
sfc/scannow
A message appears indicating that "the system scan will start. Be patient because the scan can take some time.
c. If all files require a SFC replace will replace them. You may be asked to insert your Win7 DVD for this process to continue.
d. If everything is correct you should, after the scan, see the following message "resource protection Windows not found any breach of integrity".
e. once the scan is finished, close the command prompt window, restart the computer and check.Check the link below for further guidance on scan SFC - mentioned
http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/929833Method 2:
Also I suggest you to check if you are facing the same question in the user account new or different administrator account. You can create a new user account on your computer, and then check.Create a new user account-

HP20: Windows Explorer has stopped working, followed by windows explore restarts
Hello everyone, a few days my computer began to behave strangely. When you try to download some pictures using Chrome, windows Explorer has crashed, and a pop-up will appear showing the message: "Windows Explorer has stopped working". A few seconds after that, the entire desktop up-to-date and another window poped by displaying "Windows Explorer restarts... ».
The cycle of two windows appearing repeatedly. I restarted the computer as soon as it shows the office, the same thing happens again, to infinity.
I was able to restart the computer by using the security mode, it works just fine. I've disabled most of the software at startup, except 360 total security anti virus. It has not solved the problem.
Does anyone have a solution for this? Thank you very much for any help!
Matheus
Hi old_geekster, I tried what you said and it did not work. However, I then found the original source of microsoft where you got this info from, and they mention here on a corrupted video driver as a source as possible. That was the problem in my case: radeon tried to update earlier this week, but I was in a hurry and it did not properly. I tried again and it worked now!
Thnaks for your help, even if not exactly what I needed, it solved my problem!

"Windows Explorer has stopped working" if I open Control Panel
Guys, could someone help me please?
When I open the Control Panel, it says "Windows Explorer has stopped working" and then it restarts Windows Explorer. When I right click on any folder it says "recording of the UI language is not valid" 5 times and for a split second, it says "Corrupted registry" then it works. But I am unable to use the control panel.
I have Windows Vista home premium and Norton Antivirus.
Can someone help me please?
Hello
The error message says something about corrupt registry.
So, it seems that this issue would be related to incorrect or damaged registry entries. If the registry is damaged, your operating system will not work as it should and can feel such or similar problems.
I m using the CCLeaner to clean the registry and other system files.
It s a free tool and you should try it.If this does not work and if you notice the same question so I would recommend reinstalling the OS using the Toshiba recovery disc.
In most cases this will help you fix this registry -

Why you are posting in the forum, IE? Maybe the reason why you try to use the CP is to enter Internet Options? If so, you can do it without the help of Windows Explorer (at least on your operating system) starting (using the Task Manager if necessary): control.exe inetcpl.cpl
Otherwise what your problem probably means is that you have added something new to the root of the control panel which is not compatible with your OS, causing thus the Windows Explorer (not IE) crashing. In this case, the same way you could get in Add Remove programs without involving Windows Explorer by starting: control.exe appwiz.cpl
You can get help more informed by post on a forum that specializes in performance and Maintenance of your operating system.
Good luck

Copy and paste so the formatting is good. It is a single line. If you get an error message, you can copy it by right-clicking in the window, choose the brand, by selecting the text, and press ENTER.
There are communes of false positives of SFC so do not assume that something is actually corrupted until we see what files it complains. Settings.ini, desktop.ini, tcpmon.ini and ending with mof files are false positives.
For the results of the SFCStart - All Programs - Accessories - right on command prompt and choose run as administrator.
