Windows is unable to install update KB976264 KB975929, KB979099, KB979306

I have Win Vista Home Premium SP2 and updates listed above have failed to install.

I get error code 8e5e03fa on each of them

I tried to download each update individually to form MS and also use a stand alone installer but it fails.

I booted safe mode and tried to install it but I get a message saying that you can not use the stand alone installer or installer WinUpdate mode without failure.

I read that I should hide KB979306 since I do not live in one of these time zones. Is this correct? This could be the reason why it is not installed?

Thank you

  • Windows Vista will not install updates.

I came across Best Buy, bought the first thing I have seen & to the left. It's just the small things. My main PC is myPC music recording studio (never online) so for my this, that I bought... I don't care.

a m9402f 7.00 GB 64-bit system quad-core 2.30 Ghz procesor.  On the 626 GB on the 'C' drive, I only used GB 129.  I don't know why I've bothered w/a Seagate external extreem HD 1000GO?  Works great, I've never used one before Vista but works very well.

Thus, recent updates do not keep install .  What's up with the updates? What is happening with this? Should I just go buy Windows 7?  I spend hours looking for solutions and never ask for help, but this time I am so tired so I'm going to ask.  Below are updates that keep a failure... Notice they're on SP2 * and IE8. My PC alread had installed SP2.  I tried an update for this.  I have switch from IE 7 to 8. I don't see any other reasons.

  • Office Jet 5740: installed windows 10 now cannot install updates from HP

I keep getting notifications that update for printer fails.  That's the message "HP - business WSD multifunction printer, MFP, other materials - Null Fax - HP Officejet 5740 series" the functions of the printer, I also saw that there is new software available for this printer but do not know if I could install with Windows 10

    Hi @Gwpmd,

Once the printer is working, the option would be to ignore the printer software updates or you can try these external resources, which have some progress.

A poster tried to show or hide updates and it solved their problem.

  • Windows update - Windows Update is not restore my windows/desktop computer after installing updates

When running Windows Update is not reproduce my office and rather trashes everything.  Ysterday I left to work with over a dozen research Internet Explorer open and this morning, I get to a Windows auto update cycle, which wrecked all.  Well Yes, they are lost and of course, I can spend an hour or more to find once again but my boss is breathing down my neck, as if it was my fault.  Microsoft how inconsiderate!

Of course, I have a solution, TURN OFF Microsoft Update but is this really what Microsoft wants?

    Please people think.

    Hi jbeech,

No, I don't work for Microsoft and I am not associated with them in any way (other than to receive awards and certificates I earned on my own).  I'm a volunteer civilian gift free time to help other people.

I meant nothing personal, per my comments of workflow.  I was just trying to do my best to help you avoid this problem in the future and apologize if you took it the wrong way.  I agree with you that he must restore it things automatically (as it does when you use the hibernation), but maybe that can be done (at least not always) because updates may affect items that are open and to update these programs must be closed (which makes saving them more difficult because if they look different after the update) It may not work if we try to restore them unless they can find a way to save ONLY the information and it is a much more difficult task).  This problem does not occur with an accident or an unexpected shutdown (and a complete restoration in cases does not always work as well and completely that we hope - at least I had problems back exactly where I was with all that every time).

While you can choose to turn off automatic updates, you don't want to not go for very long without updating your system, so checking periodically (although if you want to do on a daily basis - I would try at least every Wednesday at least since most updates are released every Tuesday) is important in all cases.  The option I suggested (i.e. automatic downloads but no facilities) would at least them already downloaded (you would not need to check - that they would be there) it would take much less time to choose and install if you show if off completely - and when you decide to install, you will find it takes MUCH more time because you need to download and install (unless they are already downloaded).  But it is entirely up to you.

    Good luck and best wishes!

I continue to have problems with updates. The last error code is 643.  I am running Windows Vista on a Toshiba laptop.  L305D 5900
    Help, please!  Thank you!

Error code Windows Update '0 x 643' Windows Installer error code "1603" are generic error codes. As a general rule, these error codes mean that the update was not installed. These error codes are usually caused by a corruption in the installation of .NET Framework or by an inconsistency on the MSI database state.

To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Click on the following link to download the .NET Framework cleanup tool:

      http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx (http://blogs.msdn.com/b/astebner/archive/2008/08/28/8904493.aspx)
    2. Use the .NET Framework Cleanup to uninstall version .NET Framework 1.0, 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5
Note The cleaning tool does not remove the .NET Framework 2.0 in Windows Vista or later versions, because the .NET Framework is installed as a component of the operating system.
    3. Restart the computer.
    4. Download and install the following components:
    5. Restart the computer.
    6. Visit the Windows Update Web site and install the updates

    It may be useful
