  • Windows Mail - can I consolidate records 'Local Folders' and 'IMAP '?

I use Windows Vista Home Premium. I had already set up Windows Mail with a local ISP, which went bankrupt. So there are "Local Folders" put in place for this account. I can't use this address, so I now set up Windows Mail with my new provider, via IMAP. Who created a new set of records, so now that I have two folders box, reception, two sent items folders, two project files etc. I tried drag - move, but they will not move. Is it possible I can group these together so that, without losing any content, I have only one Inbox folder, for example?

    DQ J

Not if you use IMAP.  You can use pop.  IMAP the local client has reproduced what is on the server which is good if you have several devices, but you can create local rules or manage local folders.

BTW, if you change from IMAP to POP, you need to backup your data (which you should do anyway)

My Windows email won't open it from my desktop or start menu. What antivirus software do you use?  Many are not compatible with WinMail.  See the link I cited above.  Try to remove your antivirus software and get something less invasive such as www.microsoft.com/security_essentials .  Then delete your e-mail account, close and reopen WinMail and then add your e-mail account back again to solve all the problems that caused the anti-virus products.  Then see if it works correctly then.

  • Windows Mail doesn't load/connect. Tried troubleshooting, but nothing works.

My windows email account does not, connect even though I have access to the internet.   I have reset the router/modem, but don't know enough to do much else.  This is the error message I get:

The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'windows mail', server: 'pop.telus.net', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, secure (SSL): Yes, Socket error: 10061, error number: 0x800CCC0E

    Thanks for your help.

1: has this ever work? Windows Mail is the name of the account? (It's weird).

2: connect directly to the modem. Not better?

3: disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the CPUs, slows down sending and receiving and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs, account setting changes and has even been responsible for the loss of messages. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

Why you don't need your anti-virus to scan your email

Note that for many AV programs, it may be necessary to uninstall the program and reinstall in custom Mode and uncheck e-mail scanning when the option is available.

Tell me how to get back what I lost

    Hi JohnRiggins,

Method 1: Disable the security software; Follow the steps mentioned in the link below

    Disable the antivirus software

If you use a non-Microsoft security software, you can check the documentation provided with the program to achieve this.

Important: Activate security software once everything is done.

    Method 2:

    In Windows Mail

    (a) organize click

    (b) in the drop-down menu, click Layout

    (c) the menu that opens to the right should have a check box in the Menu bar

    (d) click on Navigation pane, the icon should have an area in blue highlight around it.

Now, check if the left pane reappears

RE: New group contact and new Contact missing buttons

Open Windows Mail > click Contacts > on this Contacts window, right-click on an open space inside the window > customize this folder > under what kind of folder do you want? Click the pointer on the far right (there is only a single pointer here), click Contacts > OK

Now, look upward, you will see the buttons new Group Contact and new Contact.

  • How do I change Windows mail app to show all the email

The screen displays a small bar on the left, right, with a list of folders. then the rest of the screen is split between a list of senders and email that I click. This means that I can't actually read the e-mail because it is wider than half the screen. It's annoying bloody repulses me with this shit. How closer senders list so I can read emails without having to open the mail in a separate window. One who sets this parameter was a jerk

    Hi Natalieme,

Welcome to the Microsoft community. According to the description, it seems that you want to display email on a full page in Windows 8 mail application.

I'm sorry to inform you that it is the type of display available in Windows 8 mail by design application and cannot be changed or adjusted. To know the parameters in Windows 8 mail application, you can check out the link below:

  • Contacts in Windows Mail doesn't have to 'Make a new Contact Group' in the toolbar

I'm unable to create a distribution list, because the option 'Make a new Contact Group' does not appear in my Contacts toolbar. Also the "Add a new Contact" option does not appear in the toolbar. The only options that appear are «organize...» Display... Burn. " I don't get any menu when I right click on the toolbar.

I use Windows Vista Home Premium on a laptop Gateway.

    I also found the answer!
As said above Nimbostratus, but here's another way to do the same.

    OPEN your contacts folder

In the left column of the screen, you should see your CONTACTS folder. Right click on it.
Who should bring up the menu drop down and then click on PROPERTIES.

One of the tabs is called CUSTOMIZE. Click on this

The first line says: "what kind of folder do you want?
I bet you anything that he does not say CONTACTS just below that!
Change it to CONTACTS and all your problems 'create a new contact group' are now solved...
