Windows Mail - can I consolidate records 'Local Folders' and 'IMAP '?

I use Windows Vista Home Premium. I had already set up Windows Mail with a local ISP, which went bankrupt. So there are "Local Folders" put in place for this account. I can't use this address, so I now set up Windows Mail with my new provider, via IMAP. Who created a new set of records, so now that I have two folders box, reception, two sent items folders, two project files etc. I tried drag - move, but they will not move. Is it possible I can group these together so that, without losing any content, I have only one Inbox folder, for example?

Not if you use IMAP.  You can use pop.  IMAP the local client has reproduced what is on the server which is good if you have several devices, but you can create local rules or manage local folders.

BTW, if you change from IMAP to POP, you need to backup your data (which you should do anyway)

I don't think that the format of replies to the messages in the local folders are linked with focus groups or to individual account settings. As local folders can contain messages between several accounts or identities, it is more likely that formatting uses the setting of the account or identity appearing in the: field when you reply.

This is how I think it should work. How this works in practice may be different.

Lately when I turn on my computer, I get a message saying. "Windows mail can compact the message store. This can take up to a few minutes. "It looks like a real message of Windows but when I click on the link"Get help from communities", it does not work. I cancel or close the message, because I fear that the message can be fake and won't open my computer for a virus or worse. Anyone has any info on this particular message? I can't find anything in the help section of Windows. Thank you.

I use windows mail and when I close windows mail, I me meassage windows mail can compact your message store, what is it?

This means that there are more than a certain level of white space in your message store (usually this means that you have removed a number of items).

    Yes go ahead.

Compacted mail databases are generally safer and more resistant to corruption than the non-compacted.

  • Windows Mail thinks that this message is suspicious and has blocked

    Hello

When I send an email to 3 of my clients, it shows windows mail thinks this is a suspicious message and blocked. It's something every normal day that trigger the alert message, no pyramid or scam scheme.

It happens on 3 different computers I know, all using Windows Mail. How can I identify what is happening with Windows mail? The alternative is to install a different e-mail program, but I'd rather have this problem in a different way instead of patching the problem.

If you mean that recipients see this message, it could have more to do with your server e-mail than anything else.  The first place to check would be with your ISP or whoever provides your outgoing email service. Steve Hebert - MVP Microsoft Internet Explorer

  • Windows Mail can receive but not send up to exit application

Hi and thanks for taking the time to read what I am in need of your help.

I have a Toshiba P200, Vista Home Premium, Tiscali as my ISP, Norton Internet Security for AV and firewall and access my broadband via Ethernet to a Belkin ADSL router (and occasionally a Siemens router) and I am experiencing some strange events with Windows Mail.

In short I can receive mail without any problems, but when I send the mail, remaining in the Outbox despite the option send immediately being checked, or by pressing the send/receive button. When I go out Windows Mail mail is sent immediately and is when I restart Windows Mail in the sent messages folder.

So why I think there is a problem with the laptop. Well, I'm lucky to have a friend who has a non-Toshiba laptop, where all of the above can be replicated. Guess what, Windows Mail sends the message exactly as it should (on my account and on my network, through my router and the ISP, Tiscali etc.), so I conclude that the only difference is that my laptop is a P200.

I called Tiscali, which confirmed that all my mail settings were OK, POP, SMTP etc, which I expect (because they work on the laptop from my friend), and they advised to contact Microsoft, I did, and since the P200 has pre-installed Vista they say that I need to contact Toshiba, and here I am.
My P200 has been restored to factory settings, and I tried to get this working without Norton IS and no firewall (Vista and router) but no luck.

Any ideas would be very appreciated and if I find through other means, I'll post back with the result. If the answer is already out there, please apologize for being too stupid to locate and beg your patience.

    Thank you very much.

    Hello

It is typical for support persons. All of them are trying to refer clients and through them. In my opinion Microsoft s reaction is strange to me. They designed the operating system and they should be responsible for the feature.

I have the Satellite A200 and Satellite P200D and I use Windows Mail on two of them successfully. My laptop is connected to the WIFI router and router directly to the phone line. To be honest, I have configured Windows Mail as you and all of the work are made in a few minutes.

It is not easy to tell where the problem may be, but I think that there is a problem with some settings of your laptop. Some of them block it somehow. To compare your, with friends laptop is also not the best because it can have completely different OS settings (antivir application, the settings of the firewall).

Try turning off all the features that can block Windows hotmail to see if there is some difference.

  • Windows Mail - Can't delete emails from any box (Inbox, deleted items, items, etc...).

In October, my Windows Mail simply stop allowing me to remove anything.  I noticed it first in my Inbox, so I went to my "deleted items" empty to make (thinking that it was question) instead, but found that I could not delete individual emails or use the tool to empty folder.  Windows Mail doesn't allow me to delete ALL emails from ANY folder, so now I need to access my emails on the internet, but it's a pain that my address book is in position.

I googled solutions and tried a few corrections people recommended when they are unable to remove files from a single folder.  They don't solve anything.  I thought corrupted program so I would update and downloaded Windows Live Mail hoping to fix it, but same problem remains.

Error message when you try to delete individual reading by e-mail: "Message could not be deleted."  Error message when you exit the program: "certain elements in the"Deleted items"folder cannot be deleted.  An error has occurred. "Nothing specific, but ANY element of ANY folder can be deleted.

  • Windows Mail - can't delete messages

I've upgraded to WIndows 7 but you need to go back to Vista to save some key files. When I went back to Vista, I found that I can't delete messages from Windows Mail in my Inbox, sent items and my Outbox. My Outbox sends constant messages not deleted (I remved the addresses between no sent items to prevent their shipment amultiple times). Error messasges include:
    * "An unknown error has occurred."
    * "This message could not be deleted.
    * At the start of Windows Mail, this message appears "a few errors have occurred while proecessing tasks. Please see the list of errors below for more details". However, it is not all the details listed.

I tried to install the update KB941090, but I get a message that it is not applicable to my version of Windows.

I have Service Pack 1 installed and have tried to install Service Pack 2 for Vista, but it will not be installed.

I can see all the message headers but can't get their reading. Pressing on 'Retry' just quit the program. Thank you, Cheryl

Try to compact and repair the database (see www.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).  Which tends to fix any corruption in the database which can produce strange errors like that.

And pay attention to the antivirus interference that may also contribute to the database.  See www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

Out of the blue, suddenly I can not open my Windows Mail program.  I use Windows Vista Home Premium. I get a message that might indicate that the disk is full. Windows Messaging database is damaged.  Run my Windows Mail utility and to compact and repair the database (seewww.oehelp.com/WMUtil/).  See here:www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3 as an antivirus software is the usual culprit in such circumstances.
