Here is the suggested fix you can try http://support.microsoft.com/kb/960544
Or you can try creating a new user profile on your computer and then try that media center.

I have to go into the program to find the video. I didn't know that there was a Media Player 2. Would it not be better to download another drive to use? If so which do you recommend?

    Hi Dave,.

    1. What is the format of the video you are trying to play?

2 are you facing this problem only with a particular video file?

  • Windows Media Player 12 has stopped working.

Windows Media Player 12 has stopped working. When I select an audio track and click on the play button, a red X appears next to the title in the playlist. I uninstalled and reinstalled the player, but also update the drivers. Checking the properties through the device manager says that the device is working properly, but this clearly isn't. Any suggestions on how to solve this problem would be welcome. As a matter of interest, itunes has stopped working at the same time. And audio tracks play fine in RealPlayer.

  • I want media files to play in outdoor applications. Media.Windows - Media - foundation.enabled has no effect for me.

So ridiculous that something changes unexpectedly. I run a recording studio. This is how to make money to eat. I could always click on a wav/mp3/etc. and choose Save or open with an external drive. I have to do this a lot. The only way I seem to be able to do now is save it somewhere and then open it from there. Thank you. Twice the work. Media.Windows - Media - foundation.enabled = everything that has no effect for me. I want to say what I really think, but I'll bite my tongue.

Edit: Are you kidding me? It is required to install a software to be able to post this question? Still bite my tongue...

Try the media.directshow.enabled pref set to false.

There is no way to rotate the video in Windows Media Player, but the video can be edited in Windows Movie Maker.  Movie Maker has an option to rotate the video.

    a. import the video clip in Windows Movie Maker.

    b. drag the imported video clip and drop it on the timeline.

    c. on the Tools menu, click Video Effects.

    d. to rotate the clip to the right, drag the effect video rotation 90 and drop it on the movie in the timeline.

    -or-

    e. to rotate the video clip on the left do drag the video effect rotate 270 and drop it on the movie in the timeline.

    f. on the file menu, click on the video file and follow the instructions of the wizard movie recording.

Open media player has chosen an album hit game and each album deleted

The Windows Media Player library does not contain the files themselves, only shortcuts to the. If you remove the actual file, it will get removed from the library.

About your mp3 player, if you have it set to sync automatically, and the files are no longer on your computer, they will be removed by the player.

  • Windows Media Player 11 has stopped playing some of my MP3s. Any ideas on how to solve this?

I have a desktop Dell Dimension running XP. I uninstalled Real Player and Rhapsody, just in case they were causing problems, but that did not work.

    Here is what I noticed:

WMP plays still files were extracted a CD, the songs that were purchased from Amazon, but not:

-The MP3s that have been purchased by third parties (for example, recordings of teleseminar I bought

-Downloaded free MP3s (once again the teleseminar recordings)

-WMA files that I downloaded (records of my seminars)

All this has played before. I can't put my finger when he started, although I think that things started to get weird when I downloaded itunes months ago, but I don't remember this particular problem from this time.

I searched the Web for similar positions, but found none.

So... any suggestions would be most appreciated.

    Thank you very much
    David

    Hello OutbackDAL,

Thank you for your message.  There is an option in iTunes to convert all the songs to the .aac format.  This might be the reason why you are not able to play in Media Player, because this format is not supported in Media Player 11.  Right click on one of the songs that can not play and check the format of the song.  If the song is the .aac format, you will need to convert it to another compatible format or .mp3.  If the song is already in a readable format, you can watch download or install a new Codec.  Sometimes, they have several players (that is to say real, Rhapsody, iTunes, etc.) can damage your Codec.  You can get the Windows Media Player Codec from the link below.
Please let us know if it did or did not help to solve your problem.
    See you soon

  • WINDOWS MEDIA PLAYER 11 HAS NO VIDEO BUT SOUND

I downloaded and paid for the codec suggested Microsoft. Updated my Nvidia video card and it installed firefox plugin for WMP.  I can't get a video image, but get the sound when you try to play a dvd or the downloaded video. Not sure what to try next? Should I just remove WMp 11 and redownload it? Suggetions?

    Hi CLB43,

Generally, this problem should be solved by installing the video codec. In my view, re - install the video codec should solve the problem.

Also, make sure the file format you are trying to play if it is supported by WMP11 or not.

Information on the types of media files that supports Windows Media Player

Can what types of video files I play in Windows Media Player?

You can also try to reduce hardware acceleration:
    1. click on start in the lower left corner of Windows Vista.
    2. click on Control Panel, click appearance and personalization, click personalization, click display settings and then click Advanced settings.
    3. click on the Troubleshooting tab, and then click on change settings.

Note: The settings will be disabled if the graphics card driver does not support disabling hardware acceleration.

    4. move the hardware acceleration slider until it is one notch to the right of None. It is the basis of acceleration.
    5. click OK twice, and then close the window.
