  Method 2.

  A clean boot to test if any element of service or third party application startup is causing this issue.

• How can I block Windows media player-all function or video?

  OK, I have one of four newspapers-ons in my pc that is locked down pretty tight where the only thing I want to work is word processor (WordPerfect and starting Word version).  My teenage son has impulse control issues, which gives more access means that it is wandering and not on the task.  Theoretically, he likes to play music while working on school assignments (writing) on the computer.  The problem is that apparently in addition to the execution of music files already resident on our pc and external drive, he inserted DVD in the dvd player and movies run (secretly) that are played to use the features of Windows media player.  My preference would be to hell video functionality or the ability to use the DVD drive under this opening of session and leave the ability of audio file.  Is there a way to do this?

However, the feature that you are curious about is currently not available in Family Safety. It can only restrict the entire working application and not a specific feature within the application.   Since the last 2 months I find that my Windows Media Player cannot play the videos. After having tried many, I installed the third-party Codec such as GOM Player, GOM DECODER and GOM converter on an experimental basis. For all its operation I installed that for the second time (test period = 1 month). Now, I found some unusual - the entire screen with prop-up Windows began to appear "foggy, unusually large screen, Visuality fuzzy." So GOM was 'uninstalled' in the menu 'program & feature.   c. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

  d. Note you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

  e. restart Windows Media Player.

  Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

  Step 3: If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

  a. exit Windows Media Player.

  There is no way to rotate the video in Windows Media Player, but the video can be edited in Windows Movie Maker.  Movie Maker has an option to rotate the video.

  You can turn video clips in Windows Movie Maker by following these steps:

  a. import the video clip in Windows Movie Maker.

  b. drag the imported video clip and drop it on the timeline.

  c. on the Tools menu, click Video Effects.

  d. to rotate the clip to the right, drag the effect video rotation 90 and drop it on the movie in the timeline.

  Thanks for the replies on the forum.

  Given that the Microsoft Vista Media Center and XBOX do not play the files suggest it would need to be a codec which solves the problem or maybe file conversion which would solve the problems you are experiencing.  Since the codecs for files is not something written by Microsoft, we do not have the information for that in our system.

  What I suggest is to go to your search engine preferred and in the search line and typing "is possible to play VLC on XBOX.

  WARNING:

  Using third-party software, including hardware drivers can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the use of third-party software can be solved. Software using third party is at your own risk.

  What I suggest also done an online search using your favorite search engine for "play MKV files in Vista x 64 Media Center" to find whether there may be suggestions about codecs or these codecs created by other organizations then Microsoft.
