Can not download the update for Windows Media Player in order to play protected files
I am trying to download a digital copy of a movie. I am told:
You upgrade the Windows Media Player security components to play the files on your computer. Upgrade, please follow the instructions below:

When I click on the link, it takes me to a page:

It says to click on the upgrade button, but the upgrade button is not clickable. How can I download this update so I can get my digital copy? He says I'm in compatibility mode for Windows Media Player for windows 95. I hope this helps. Thanks in advance for your help :)

You can try to reset the DRM licenses and check if the problem persists.

You will need a codec to play the video file. A codec is a software to compress or decompress a digital media file, such as a song or a video. Windows Media Player and other programs use the codec to play and create digital media files.

Windows Media Player, not able to play .wmv send attachments
Windows Media Player does not does not correctly play wmv files
When the download of wmv files received by e-mail the Windows Media Player does not play properly - the sound is OK and play throughout, but the video freezes along the way
Hello Mindymoo,
Go to the Control Panel, select programs and features. Then on the left side, go on "Turn Windows features On or Off".
You will need access to media features and to extend it to see the Windows Media Player.
Uncheck Windows Media Player. Reset. Now do the same steps, but this time, when you expand media features, remember there is a control on the front of the media player.
Reset.I hope this helps.

Windows Media player 12 will not play .avi files
Original title: Media Player 12
I have WMP12 on my windows 7 and never had a problem 2 days ago. Now I can't play video files, it seems to be only the .avi files. When I click on it I get a message saying that windows media player has stopped working and is looking for a solution. Some of these files, I had some time and always played using WMP12 without problems. It will play everything, MP4, MP3, audio books simply not excerpts from movies avi, I looked for updates, codec & addons, nothing helps, any suggestions
I already have VLC that I use for the .mkv files, but I prefer WMP it has better quality image and sound. I downloaded the codecs from the link you gave me, (Combined-Community-Codec-Pack-2013-08-01) and installed it. Yay it worked. Thank you very much

Windows Media Player 7 won't play back of the BluRay disc
I just installed Windows 7 premium home, full retail version of 64-bit. I was surprised to find the media player does not support playback of BluRay. I read the previous post in this forum and see, as soon as may, that Microsoft was aware of problems with playback of BluRay on Win codec. 7
What is Microsoft to address this glaring problem. BluRay has been around for a long time and I'm sure that thousands of Windows 7 customers will be in the same boat as me. There is NO codec available via a search Google (64-bit) and I would be very reluctant to use one off of the internet in any way (Virus problems)
Hi Patrick,
As we know that Blu - Ray is a patented technology, so need the codec appropriate to buy and this is why we cannot include it in our operating system.
To play a Blu - ray disc, you must use a non-Microsoft program that supports Blu - ray playback and a device that can play Blu - ray discs.

Why my Windows media player XP unable to play photo high megapixels (2 to 3 megapixels)
Hey microsoft,.
I have do deal with XP Windows media player can play the photo high megapixels (2 to 3 megapixels). But when you use Windows media player from Vista can play.
Darren,
a couple of things quickly...
first of all, make sure that the extended monitor is configured under the resolutions of your monitor and screen. Seems that the resolution is not set correctly.
Second, you can do a BING search on the type of program photo/slide show that you want to use. There are many free third-party software out there. Just be careful where get you it.

My copy of windows media player 11 does not play video.
My copy of windows media player 11 does not play video. When you try to play the video (usually an avi file) I get audio and visualization. I tried to uninstall and install new, but does not. I chose also to all types of files media player by default but video still does not play.
An avi file is simply a container that may have different types of files in it for video and audio.
You probably don't have the correct Codec to play the video.
Either download a codec pack such as K-lite or download a little program called G-spot, open it and drag your avi file in the center of the small window of G-spot.
It will then tell you what Codec uses the avi file. You can then Google that particulat Codec, download and install it.
See you soon,.

Windows Media Player 11 lists and plays each song twice
Why Windows Media Player 11 list and play each song twice without being in a loop? Help me
I have problems with windows media player 11 playing each son twice and it is very annoying. How can I solve this problem?
Sara: I suggest that you try to reset the media library. Note firstly reset the library will make you lose all play counts and ratings too. Then, follow these steps:
-Restart the PC.
-Click Start, type services.msc in the search field and press ENTER. In Services, locate the Windows Media Player Network Sharing Service. If its status is started, double-click on the service and click on stop.
-Click Start, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft in the search field and press ENTER. This folder opens in Windows Explorer.
-In this folder, delete the folder Media Player. If you do not see the folder, then it is probably hidden. Set Explorer to view the hidden files and folders and show protected system files.
-Launch WMP, your library will have been reset and will be rebuilt. Check if the problem persists. -

someone knows the solution for this problem
