Windows media player added date changed after backup

I did back ups before but this last time, dozens of songs were duplicated.   How can I solve this problem and prevent it from happening again?

Hello

·         How are you trying to backup?

I suggest to follow the steps below and then try to save:

Method 1:

If only a small number of duplicate entries exist, try the following:

a. click on the Windows "Start" and select "programs". Click on "Windows Media Player" to launch the media player.

b. click on the "library" tab You should see a list of media files uploaded to the Windows Media Player library. Browse and search for files duplicate in the library. Duplicate files share the same name and usually appear side by side.

c. right click on files duplicate you want to delete and click 'delete '. Repeat the steps to delete all of the duplicate in your Windows Media Library.

For any consultation remove you items from the Windows Media Player library:

http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-items-from-the-Windows-Media-Player-library

Method 2:

If you have a large number of entries in doubles in your library (or if your library is duplicated), it might be better to create a new library.

To resolve this problem, delete the Windows Media Player database. To do this, follow these steps:

a. exit Windows Media Player.

b. click Start, click Run, type %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Playerand then click OK.

c. Select all files in the folder and then click on Delete on the file menu.

Note: you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

d. restart Windows Media Player.

Note: Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

  • Windows Media Player 12 'Date added' column shows only the current date

I have a laptop Windows 7 Professional and use Windows Media Player 12 on a daily basis. Given that I have download music all the time, I like to use the column "Date added" to see all the music I downloaded recently. Everything works fine great up until a week ago. Now, the column 'Date added' updates to read that EVERY song in my library has been added today! I would check back the next day, and all the songs would show that it has been added the day I checked on it! Is there a solution to this? I need WMP to display correctly the dates to which songs are added to my music library.

    Thank you

  • Windows Media Player 11 Date added function - please stop repeating the date for EACH file.

I have been using Media Player 9, decided to upgrade to Windows Media Player 11, and the only thing I can not stand on Player 11 is how it sorts Date added media files.  In Player 9 when I chose the column Date added, the program would list all the files on a given under a SINGLE date.  With Windows Media Player 11 it lists EACH file with a date so that instead of see Tuesday, December 14, 2010 once and then listing all of the files under it, I see Tuesday, December 14, 2010 about twenty times.  I download podcasts once a week and dump it on my phone, but it's a worry now.  Is it possible to stop Windows Media Player 11 to repeat the date again and again and force him to the date that the list only once?  Think back to Player 9.  Alex

    Hi Alex103,

It's design in Windows media player 11 and it is also included in Windows Media player 12.

However, you can uncheck this option, follow the steps below:

    a. open windows Media player

    b. right-click on one of the sorted column

    c. click Choose column

    d. uncheck data added

  • Windows Media Player adding music/Playlist problems like reading list will not be updated

OK, so for some strange reason don't let not my WMP add me any music library. My music is in my music folder and when I click on individual songs they will open in the POM, but they will not remain in the library.

In addition, it doesn't let me update the playlists, I already have. In order for me to add to the playlist, I must open the play list, search for the song already in my library, add to playlist and save it like that.  (This means I can't create a new playlist). I tried right click and add to the playlist, but it does not work. In addition, I can't open the playlist to see the songs already in it. I can right click and play the playlist, which shows me what songs are in in the 'Now Playing' list, but it won't let me see without playing.

Personally I think that it could have been a buggy update, considering I've had this computer for months, and it has worked so far.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

How is it going? A member of the team has scored this as replied, but I undercover until you have had a chance to update...

    Seasons Greetings! R

  • Changing music Info after this problem by Windows Media Player

I 'Open file location' and go to 'Properties' correct/update the information of the song, but as soon as I do, changes to Media Player it again at all what he wants and adds random other songs from the same album and change number and track cover art. This problem is even worse trying to organize the songs on the mix CD. I went in 'Options' to change to "Substitute information" to "Only the missing information" and she always does.

    Hi KaylaPatterson,

Thanks for posting your query in the Microsoft Community Forums!

I understand that Windows Media Player will not change the information of music even after update in the location of the main file.

I'll be more than happy to help you and guide you in the right direction.

To avoid this, I suggest you to check out the methods and check if it helps. You can try to clear the Windows Media Player database and check if it helps.

To do this, follow these steps:

    Step 1

    1. exit Windows Media Player.

    2. for Windows 7: click Start, run, %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Media Player and then click on OK.

    3. Select all the files in the folder, and then click delete on the file menu.

Note you don't have to remove the folders that are in this folder.

    4. restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

    Step 2

If this does not resolve the problem, disable the Windows Media Player database cache files. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. exit Windows Media Player.

    2. If you are running Windows 7, click Start, run, % LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft, and then click OK.

3 select the folder Media Player, and then click delete on the file menu.

    4. restart Windows Media Player.

Note Windows Media Player automatically rebuilds the database.

Also note before performing the steps above, I suggest to save the songs and try the steps above.

  • Windows Media Player Date out of sync with PC

I noticed that when I added "Date last played" a category on Windows Media Player, the date indicated changes 6 hours before midnight.  In other words, songs played before 18:00 (18:00) CDT show today date, while the songs played AFTER 18:00 (18:00) CDT have date of tomorrows as "Date last played."

It seems that the date in the database for the music is out of sync, but I can't find a way to fix it.  It's more annoying than anything else I want it fixed.

  • Windows media player artists name has additional symbol at the end

In Windows Media Player, a little square symbol follows the name of the artist on some of the entries.  I try to remove it and it comes back.  This translates to a separate artist for a few songs in the same album.  Also, if I try to display songs from the artist, I get 8 different versions / inscriptions of the artist with the symbol of the square after the name, rather than an inscription by the artist with all his songs.

Is there a way to fix this?

    Hi Robs_3415,

You can see the article mentioned and check if the problem still persists.

  • My recently downloaded Windows Media Player 11 play dvd, audio cd and cd rom, but will not recognize two photos of the dvd which have been able to acknowledge by Media Player 10 and record of the Explorer Windows-with some difficulty

    1. Windows Media Player 10 has opened a photo successfully dvd but a message "Microsoft has encountered a problem and needs to close" came on the screen several times.  Had to re insert the dvd picture, but it would open again each time.
    2. Tried the cd drivers and troubleshooting dvd and was informed of my dvd could not be played because there was no decoder for dvd.  Following instructions and chose a windows xp approved decoder pack download - dvd has chosen the Roxio CinePlayer DVD Decoder Pack.
    3. Then upgraded the media player to Windows Media Player 11.
    4. After that, dvd and cd rom could be opened by the media player 11, but neither the DVD or cd ROM readers would recognize the photo DVD in question had been inserted into one of these discs, and even less to be opened by the media player.
    5. Program scanner and photo used to transfer my photos printed digitally on a dvd are trademarks of Hewlett-Packard.  Contact the center of the photo, but they could not provide me with any guidance or even particular HP photo program they used to create the dvd picture.  I remember the photos were stored on the dvd in JPEG format picture and was able to open by Windows Explorer before I've updated since WMP 10-11.

"" I remember well, the pictures are stored on the dvd in JPEG format picture and was able to open by Windows Explorer before I've updated since WMP 10-11 ""

Looks like you have a data dvd, which has just the pictures on it and it will not be seen by WMP, who needs a dvd-video disc.

It should always open in windows Explorer and you should be able to see your pictues it.

After you apply an update to the media player, I now get the error message

"Windows Media Player cannot play the DVD because the disc prohibits playback in your region of the world. You must obtain a disc that is intended for your geographic region. »

natuarally ive checked the area defined for the reader and even tried to re applying the region

I then noticed its doing the same thing with dvd stored on my media server, and while he would not even play MPEG or avi stored on my hard drive

I went to my comments to logon (standard user) media player works fine

so I'm back and tried to reinstall the mediaplayer to my admin login, it wouldn't let me not delete it, ran Media Player microsoft penalty shooter, he said everything ok

so I changed the guest account on an admin account to try to remove it from there, but as soon as I did this mediaplayer stopped working in the feedback connection that leads me to believe its a sort of level access virus, that has permeated the media player or a defect in this connection required to complete admin update media player
