Windows "open with...". ' does not not for Photoshop/CS5.5

I use the command "open with...". "in the context menu of Windows all the time opening .jpg and other image files in Photoshop. I don't want to directly associate .jpgs, etc., with Photoshop, because most of the time that I want to just quickly view in Windows Photo Viewer. But from time to time, when I need to open one in PS, so I had been using the menu command 'open with... '. ». It worked well in every version of CS I've ever used.

Until, all of a sudden, when I installed CS5.5, 'open with... '. "no longer works. Right click on a .jpg file, for example, does not even Photoshop as a valid option for a request for opening of the file (not in the list "Recommended programs" or the "other programs" list). So I have to go and look for a 'additional program '. I use Windows 7 64-bit, but if I choose the photoshop.exe in Program Files or Program Files (x 86), the jpg still comes to open in the default application (Windows Photo Viewer).

Even for a PDF (opening in Photoshop or Illustrator).

PSD open directly, although, when I double-click the file.

This really seems a matter of CS, since 'Open with' still works fine for other non Adobe applications.

How can I get my menu 'Open with' to 'review' Photoshop as a valid option and pass the file name correctly so that it actually opens the file?

Anyone have any ideas?

Thank you very much!

Nope. I had done so many times, and he never "stuck". No matter how many times I've traveled to exe, if I always checked off 'using the program selected... '. "or not, the jpg file still open in Photo Viewer.

It turns out that this thread has shown on the widget more 'like that' to the right of these forums when I presented my post, and who responded to my question. Why the wire never showed up when I was actually looking for a response, I'll never know.

According to the guidelines of this thread, you have to go and manually set/update the registry key

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\Photoshop.exe\shell\open\command

to point to the path of the most recent Photoshop (in my case, C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS5.1 (64 Bit) \Photoshop.exe). I guess it's something that the CS5.5 installer can't do in certain circumstances. He was always pointing the way to my CS5, which was no longer valid.

  • 'Open with' does not not with Photoshop CC 2015

    Hello

I've just updated to CC 2015 (Windows 7) and now when I right click on a file and go to 'open with', Photoshop is no longer there as an option. When I go through the motions to set as default and select Photoshop he refuses to recognize the action.

I tried to uninstall and reinstall Photoshop a couple of times, but it has not solved the problem

I can of course run Photoshop and open files from inside Photoshop is simply embarrassing but nevertheless quite annoying.

Has anyone else had this problem with CC 2015 and if so is it doing something magical with Regedit (I'm not good technically with computers in the slightest)?

Thanks a lot for your help.

    Tom

This has been covered in a couple of other threads. From what I can tell, Adobe installed mistakenly leaves paths in the registry pointing to the old versions, uninstalled Photoshop.

You can change the registry or probably do an uninstall complete and reinstall Photoshop so the installer resolves the problem.

  • Image displays does not correctly Photoshop CS5 Extended V 12.1. (Same file OK in PS Elements)

    I'm having a problem with Photoshop CS5 Extended V 12.1.

    The problem:

When I open some files, certain shades of the color BLUE appears as BLACK

However, the same file opens and displays correctly if I open Photoshop elements V9.0.3.

When I download the file in JPEG and re - open, the problem returns.

Open the JPEG file in another application, including PS Elements, cause no problem

    Source files

The original files is from a Nikon camera, in RAW format saved. It is possible that the original files have been corrupted somehow as the shots had an unusual blue cast - that was easily resolved by Photoshop, when I open the RAW files. However, I'm not sure.

The problem is not universal because I was not able to reproduce it with all the other files (RAW or JPEG).

  • LR3 does not detected Photoshop CS5

Suddenly LR3 does not detect my newly installed Photoshop CS5. He detected very well yesterday, but today all the options to edit in > menu are gray except Photomatix. Photoshop opens and works fine by itself.

Any ideas would be great... I really hope that I will not have to reinstall Lightroom.

These are the recommended procedures to solve your problem. Dazs, reinstall the PS is the first to go, but you can try editing the registry first.

  • Add on tool bar appears, but add ons, and new custom toolbar only appears when the Customize window open - toolbar does not name in list of the toolbar?

I used view = > toolbars = > and ticked all the toolbars that I want to appear. BUT add it to the toolbar appears blank (i.e. toolbar but no add ons). AND the new custom toolbar that I created is not yet listed in the toolbars available for check or not. The only way I can get to show upward (but no function) is by clicking the Customize button. The toolbar remains open as long as the window is customize, and I can add/remove/rearrange icons, but not use any of their functions (for example. I added a new button to the custom toolbar window, but when I click of course nothing happens, because another window - window customize - is still open). I need a way to lock the toolbar, so I can access buttons to use it please!
BTW use Windows 8 and just went from IE (and fearing that I'll have to downgrade...)
    TNX so much.

In my opinion, which suggests that what you were actually doing was to customize the toolbar of the addons. Firefox is quite flexible and you can for example put the print icon on the toolbar of the modules or the bookmarks toolbar, and not only on a new designed user a custom toolbar.

Many modules are designed by their developers do not make use of the toolbar of the add-on. Some add-ons appear on other menus. Collusion shows also in the Tools menu. Some use the page modules interface for results or settings.

  • Modules window opens but does not work properly

It started a year ago when I got FF 2.0 and I thought it would be itself correct when I updated to 3.6, but it didn't.

I have several add-ons that I wanted to delete. When I click on uninstall, they stopped working and the window Add on said that they would be removed to restart FF, but they do not and are still visible after a year or two.

I have no script and wanted to turn once to see if it interfered with another program. By clicking on the button disable nothing to do, so I have to click on uninstall then it stops working, and then click on disable to activate again.

If I click on Options onno the script, it crashes FF and I have to use the Task Manager to get out of the FF.

Is there a way to put this back in working order?

I don't know of a fix for this, but you can try creating a new Firefox profile:
