  I am running XP SP3 with IE8. A / V is McAfee of ATT Uverse. I downloaded the MSRT tool and ran in safe mode. Can't find any infected files. Has not run mode normal because svchost.exe has exhausted all of the CPU resources. At 8 instances of svchost.exe running at the same time. This computer has only 1 GB of memory and AMD 2 GHz processor. That is to say also jumps at randomly selected sites and opens the Windows SE. Just had it take me to 3 other sites while trying to log on to this site. I have another computer on a home network wireless with Vista, IE8 & Symantec that has no problem. Something other than gasoline and a match is not going to solve this?

  One last thing I noticed is that whenever I start up my system, and if I try to launch my IE 8 once the desktop screen has developed, it takes a lot of time for the browser to open.
