Windows parental control: Windows 7 accounts can be monitored in Windows 8?

We have 1 computer running windows 7 and 2 computers running windows 8.  My child's primary computer running Windows 7, and I am unable to set up so I can see it in my computer Windows 8.  Even if I have a valid Microsoft account, I get the message "the email or address is incorrect" when you try to configure security for the family on the Windows 7 machine.  Thanks for all the ideas.

You need to have an account on 8 Winodws system: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-au/windows-8/create-child-account

I had to reinstall parental controls on my Windows 7 computer and create a new password.  I can now monitor Windows 7 PC in point 8.1 of Windows

    Hi BigDcdn,

For us, in order to better afin de mieux aider help you with this issue, please send us screenshots of what follows:
    • List of child accounts on https://familysafety.microsoft.com
    • Settings for the computer of the child concerned on the site of the family safety (the page where it shows queries, e-mail notifications, etc.).
    • The list of the user accounts on your computer
I have sent you a private message for instructions. After you download it, please let know us in this thread.
    Thank you.

Okay, so I thought about it and it's ugly and not intuitive.

The REAL CAUSE of the ROOT of this error is that you CANNOT add a new kid in the Family Safety (FSS) Web site.

But as a solution, you can add a new kid on the Section of the Windows Phone website My family.

FIRST STEP remove account the offending child of family on the site of the FSS under the management of the list of the members of the family section. Once this has been completed, follow the workaround below.

    WORKAROUND

    1. Then from the sign of site Web of Windows Phone with your Microsoft Account (MSA) (parent).
    2. Hover over your name just below upper right of the search box and you will get a context box.
    3. In the context box, select My Family.
    4. In the Section My family, you will have two lists. PARENTS and CHILDREN, and especially an ADD A KID to the right of the list headers.
    5. Click on the link. Now, you will get a login screen of the MSA.
    6. Register your child or have them enter login and password. They will appear as a kid under the section of your Windows Phone my family. Even if they do not have a phone you can add.
    7. Ask them to connect in hotmail\outlook.com with their MSA will complete the configuration of security for the family.

    REAL SOLUTION

There must be a link on the site of the FSS for KID A ADD (add a child would be more enjoyable unless of course you are a family of goats) identical to that of the Windows Phone my family section. Seems like a logical place to have this option?

I hope this helps anyone else having this problem.

Account live my son was slaughtered in that State for a few years.

We used Live parental control for a period of time (years) but I never could 'fix' his account.

I initially created my daughters account on Xbox, when she was younger. I want to now that she can use the email, skydrive. She gets the following error message "your account is not ready. "It seems that your mother has finished setting up parental control for your account settings", trying to access email or people. She is able to access skydrive. I removed him from the family safety, but she is still unable to use e-mail through outlook.com or live.com.

I love how you get this error message, and then says that there is no support for this information.  You would think that if MS wrote this error message, they would assume someone would finally get it and need help.  Why I've bothered with this company I have no idea.

All I want is to get my child HM account work. Ive clicked all this parental control I can find.  If this was the issue of the xbox, Id go immediately to gmail.

    Hello

Had the same problem as the rest. All fixed now by:

Abducted child security account for the family (Instructions in this thread)

Account and went to outlook.com, let the updates.

deleted the account from the local computer (Windows 8, users through the control panel * no * new user interface)

Added and ensure that parental control is back on (it is by default)

Can access the messages and followed the account. The account I had was old enough and not yet been used.

  • It seems that your mother has finished setting up parental control for your account settings. Click "Access the parental control settings" to complete the process and access your account.

My case is exactly like G - Boy below:

I had no problems with the installation, but I found myself with the same result... my daughter cannot connect to hotmail that she gets the same error as you indicate above.

    However, I must mention that
    1. I set up both of my two daughters and you can access Hotmail and the other can't.  The same process followed
    2. one who can't access Hotmail, she can always use Instant Messanger

  • How to copy / clone the parental controls on another account

Is there a way to copy or clone parental control settings of an account limited for a new account?
I'm going to set up individual accounts for my children and I find it very embarrassing repeatedly authorized programs list. It would also be useful to have the settings for synchronization if the settings for an account (if the settings have been changed) could be copied to another account.
Any advice or pointers will be greatly appreciated!

    Toweri,

Thanks for the reply. You can copy a user profile, however, you must enable the family settings again. Unfortunately, there is not a way to clone.

  • Way around Parental controls so that I can connect on another user?

Here's the scenario.  I created a time limit on the standard account of my daughter.  No access after 21:00.  At 22:00, while I use my admin account, so I want to restart the computer.  But I get a warning that account my daughter is still connected, and if I restart, then evil and bad calamities happen.  If I pass on his own, but by design, it won't let me log on because it's after 21:00.  So I wait until the next day to connect out, then restart.

Is there a way to bypass the parental control and I would like to log on to their account so that I can close it and then again?

your account is an administrator account, correct?  You should be able to go into account management and change the settings so that instead of locking his account at 21:00, it blocks out at 22:00 or later, from here you should be able to change him, user, log (provided you do within the new time allowed) then you can log on to the administrator account and set again as the settings back to 21:00 and it will allow you to reset without a problem

It depends on two things.  First, you will need to be on the Internet.  Second, it depends on what they put on your computer.  If they put something that runs at startup, it is possible that they could.

  • Error message "unable to make changes to parental controls settings. If the problem persists, see your system administrator"when you set parental controls for a user account

Original title: user account with an effort of parental control

After logging in to my admin account, I created two user accounts for my children, set up parental controls for both that I created, when I tried to set up the third account that he would allow me to activate parental control. It seems that he is trying to load the screen to give me the parental control options then the window disappers and another small window appears saying "cannot make changes to parental controls settings. If the problem persists, see your system administrator. I close the window, and then open the parental controls for other accounts, and they work very well, allows me the chance to change. I deleted the third account several times, making sure to create on behalf of others, just like I did the first two. Still no luck. Can I have only 3 total accounts? My administrator account and standard users 2.

    Hi Bob,

Thanks for posting the request in Microsoft Community Forums.

You have already set up a parental control using the Windows parental control?

There is no parental control for Outlook.com. However, the parental control has a similar feature called Management of Contacts. Unfortunately, this feature is no longer available.
