Windows print spooler service:

I need a fix for a problem in Windows XP - error 1722 Print - Spooler Service please help.

I am trying to install a HP OfficeJet 6500 printer/fax to my computer a.  The print spooler driver does not work.

How can I solve this problem?  Please help me.

I tried for hours to try the fixes listed on Windows and HP websites without success.

Select Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, view, advanced settings and check the box in front of "show files and folders" and 'Hide protected operating system files' are unchecked. You may need to scroll down to see the second element. You should also make sure that the box before "Hide extensions of known file types" is not checked.

You must watch rather than searching for them.

There is also a System 32 folder located in the folder "I386" on your Windows CD. This System 32 folder contains the compressed form of your Windows XP boot files. If you need to replace a system file 32 on the hard drive of your computer, you can extract the necessary files to the folder I386 on the Windows operating system CD.

Source:http://www.ehow.com/about_6621878_system-32-windows-xp_.html

To replace a damaged or missing file, normal is to run the System File Checker. This can become complicated when the operating system is SP3 and the CD is SP2 or an earlier version. What is the situation on your computer?

Select, start, run, type sfc/scannow and press ENTER

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/310747

Copy the i386 folder can help

Hope this helps, Gerry Cornell

Read this page and take particular note of the paragraph that begins,'If you have a Lexmark printer, these additional steps may be necessary... ". "

Once you do all this, restart the computer before you try to install your new printer.

  • Windows must now restart because the print spooler service terminated unexpectedly

I have a PC running on Windows Vista professional that I had for about a year with two printers that have also been all this time, a HP LaserJet 1000 and an Epson SX105.

This morning, amid a series of PDFs (separate files) printing on LaserJet printers, I suddenly had the following pop-up message:

"Spooler SubSystem App stopped working and was closed".

On the Control Panel, I found that my two printers have apparently disappeared.  My first reaction was just close and restart the computer, often kind of seeds.

To restart, I tried to print again, but I was told that I had to install a printer.  Trying to install a printer, I learned that I could not because of a problem with the spooler.  I looked online to find a solution and one that suits (without touching the registry) seemed to be to check the operation of via Control Panel's print spooler, and then restart.  Oh dear.  What a mistake!  I did this and found that the printers have reappeared, but then about 30 seconds later, I got the following pop-up message:

"Windows must now restart because the print spooler service terminated unexpectedly.

Each time it restarts the message comes back after less than a minute and restarts on another 30 seconds later, so I have a chance to try a system restore (I installed the last service pack Vista a couple of days), or something else... it's just in a loop of perpetual reboot, I can't stop restarting Windows.

How the hell do I?  (I send this message using my Vista laptop and pray the same problem occur here, too, so I don't have to print anything).

I use my laptop computer in a docking station.  I took it out to take for a trip and when I got home I plugged it back (as I always do).  Just before the trip, I have upgraded to Windows 7 and all my printers were working very well.  When I got home and pluged again, Windows does not recognize one of my printers.  When I try to add printers a say8ing error message "Windows can't open add printer."  The local print spooler service is not running.  Please restat the spooler or restart the machine. "I tried to restart and turn off the printer, etc.  Can someone help me?

    Hi RobynGP,

This may occur if the print spooler requires other services, and these services are not running. To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

    1. in Services, right-click on print spooler and then click Properties.

    2. click the Dependencies tab. The first box list all system services that must work for the print spooler start. These are dependencies.

3 make a note of each service, click OK, and restart each service on which the print spooler is dependent, if the service is not already started. If a service is not started, right-click, click Properties, and then make sure that the startup type is automatic.

  • Local print spooler service does not not (Windows 7)

We bought a new HP PC with Windows 7 in December and the printer worked very well.   Suddenly, he stopped and we get an error Print Spooler Service not working.   I ran troubleshooting, and he said he fixed it, but we try and print to get the error again.

We thought that we were lucky that our old PC made through the years of Vista and WIndows 7 would be better, but I was wondering if it is still too recent.

How fix us this so that it remains fixed?

ETA - PC is an HP, but the printer is a Dell.   Is - this problem is occurring more with certain products?  The printer is of 5 years so not opposed to replace if it will solve the problem but want one that works with Windows 7.

Start > type services.msc in the search programs and files, then press 'Enter' > then in the right window, scroll down to the print spooler service, and then double click on "Print spooler" > dependencies

What is listed under "this service depends on the following system components?

Then click on the tab "General".

What is the 'print spooler startup type"set to"automatic "?

Is the "Service status" of the print spooler "started"?

If this is not the case, can you "start" the print spooler service?

BTW, what Dell printer is installed?

    Hi Marius,.

As you mentioned that you are unable to find the folder of spool, check if spoolsv.exe is present under C:\Windows\System32.

Follow these tips and check if that helps.

Method 1: Run the built-in printer Troubleshooter and check if that helps.
    Open utility troubleshooting printer

Method 2: I suggest you refer to the suggestion of Gokul T responded on November 6, 2009, for a similar problem.

You can also consult about it and see the advice given by Freak05, Tuesday, July 27, 2010.
