Windows security center dissappeared under Vista
Enter the windows Security Center can't open windows update or Windows defender. The answer I get is: windows update actually cannot look at the updates to the service is not in execution. When I try to go to 'services' to enable the Security Center can't find the service more it dissappeared completely. I would be gratefull for a solution to the dissappearing from the Security Center.
Hi David. Conc. : Disappear Windows Vista Security Center. As you recommended that I ran the Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and Hallelujah he did! As a true gift of Christmas and the new year Security Center has shown once again in Services and works actually Windows updates. So everything came to Rosas and if I were a woman, you would be the right to a kiss, as I'm not I just shake hands with a 'thanks' and once again best wishes for 2014?

I have a security alert window in the center of the Action, which shows me that the Security Center Service is disabled. When I try to turn it on by clicking the Activate button now, I get the message: could not start the Service Windows Security Center without any error code. When I start my program I see no registration for the Security Service in services.msc. I use Windows 7 Ultimate SP1. I tried to scan with Microsoft Security Essentials, which is updated. There is no threat detected. For which I am sure that I use it for some time now about a year and a half. I got no software or hardware change recently. Also, I'm not able to update my Windows Firewall settings. When I try to change the settings there is a message: Firewall Windows cannot change some of your settings. Error code 0 x 80070424. Please help as I have tried to go well as each answer or the Forum but without success. What is a bug MSE or a real problem.
When you have imported the registry key, you probably do not change the permissions on the registry keys.
Reach
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\BFE
Right click on it -permissions
Click ADD and type
Everyone, and then click ok
Now click on all
Below, you have the permission for users
Select full control, and then click ok
DO the same for the "reg" MPSSVC so key which also returns access denied.
Make sure also canceled to start service to invite you, he should be admin/elevated command prompt.
Also, you may need a system restart after changing the permissions on the registry key.
I hope this helps.

cant get anti virus program to turn it on in the windows Security Center
I have windows vista and an alert pops up, saying: my antivirus program is disabled. I opened Security Center says AVG anti virus reports that it is turned off. I clicked on the button, and it didn't turn it on. another box pops up asking if I trust this program click Yes, I have confidence in it. Yet once, nothing happens. any suggestions on something that I could try.
Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. Windows regularly checks if an antivirus program is installed on your computer, that they are running, and that it is up-to-date. The status of your antivirus program is displayed in Windows Security Center. However, Windows doesn't detect all antivirus programs, and some antivirus programs report their status to Windows.
If you receive notifications related to security on your virus protection software, but you know that your antivirus software is installed and updated, you can follow the steps below to stop receiving these notifications. You should do this only if you are unsure that you have a full, the up-to-date antivirus program installed on your computer and that real-time scanning, which checks every file before it is opened or used, is turned on.
To specify that you are using an antivirus program that Windows does not find
Open Security Center.
Click on protection against malware, and then, under virus protection, click on show me my available options.
In the Windows Security Center dialog box, click on I have an antivirus program that I will control myself. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
Security Center displays your antivirus settings as not monitored, and you will not receive more notifications about your virus protection software.
Note
The show me my link options is not available when the Virus protection setting is marked on.

Removal of the false malware products of the windows Security Center
I use Vista Home Premium on my laptop and my AVG expired a few weeks ago. I went online and accidentally bought and installed a fake AV program, called Antivir solution Pro. I didn't know it was a bad program until I started getting all sorts of viruses and malicious messeges also everything I did and use. I tried to uninstall this thing with little success. I have downloaded and run STOPzilla and it found and removed 337 threats. I also downloaded AVG again. However, in the Security windows malware protection sectionoif, my protection antivirus says not compatible and shows that this "Antivir Solution Pro is still on but is its status as Windows Security Center in a format that is no longer supported". Defender scan shows pick up nothong. I tried to install AVG and it tells me to uninstall this program for optimal performance, but when I click on the button uninstall I can't find this Antivir anywhere in the list. I run the Microsoft Windows malicious software removal tool now. What can I do if not find something?
I can not as up-to-date definitions for Defender. I tried to download them from the microsoft Web site, but I don't think it worked because I always get the message. Is this related?

I had a friend 2 download www.msert.exe 2 my memory stick, it fully scanned all of my laptop, & declares that he has all a VIRUS! It seems as if my Windows Security Center is DEFECTIVE because there still existing security running programs, I deleted the weeks? How do I an I fix, correct, or to deal with this serious problem? How can I remove the above defective program, & replace with a 1 good and healthy? B very grateful, I would say if some computer scientist could help & advise me?
If the virus has been quarantined, it is contained and will eventually be deleted from the system. However, it can still appear on scans. You can open the quarantine folder and select the file quarantined. A button Delete is enabled. You can then choose to remove the virus from your system completely.
Could you post a screenshot of the issue of security on your SkyDrive account Center? See instructions here:
Start > type CMD
Right click on CMD and select run as administrator
Type Sfc/scannow
Press enter
Note: There is a space between sfc and / scannow

Windows Security Center is missing...
I have tried turning Windows Firewall on my Vista laptop and an alert pops up saying, "Due to a problem not identified, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall settings." Also in the Firewall menu, it says "Windows Firewall does not use recommended settings to help protect your computer". I clicked Update settings now that led to the alert "firewall Windows was unable to make the requested updates." I went to Windows Update and tried to turn on automatically find and install the updates did not work (don't remember what was now the error message). I downloaded a Microsoft Fixit Troubleshooter to try to fix the problem. Well, the problem appeared to be fixed, but when I went to install the updates that he found, all updates could not be installed. The error code was 80246008. I clicked on to get help with this errorand advises him to change the settings on the BITS service. Well, imagine my surprise when I found the BITS and Windows Security Center is missing in the registry of services.
I am so at a loss to know what to do now. Recently, I did a complete with Malwarebytes and Avast scan and a scan of boot with the latter. Malwarebytes didn't find anything, and I found and quarantined a bunch of virus with Avast. I have not noticed other symptoms (that I recognized, in any case). I hope there is a way to solve this problem without having to reinstall the entire operating system or anything. They gave me this computer, so I don't have the installation CD.Hi Pat,Follow these instructions to fix the Windows Firewall:Download and install repair Windows:When the repair of Windows opens, click start repair , click Start. Unselect all the boxes except for the following:-Reset the registry permissions-WMI repair-Repair Windows FirewallThen click on start. Once it is finished, restart your computer. Let me know if this helps you.Brian
