Just cleaned up a bunch of spyware on a laptop Vista Ultimate, and then click stop.  He began to install updates at the stop and got to "do not turn off or unplug your machine." Installing Update 2 of 6... ».  It was last night and it's still there more than 12 hours later.  Suggestions?

mdmaguire,
As you were infected with spy software, it is possible that your system files have been compromised.  I suggest you test after a clean boot your system.  Also, you must run the System File Checker to verify your system files.  Here is a link to a thread that processes to get rid of malware and other, you can go through it and make sure that your system is really clean:

  • Windows Update blocked on "check for Updates".

I'm trying to update Windows 7 Ultimate after installation.  Just to note, I have updated through Windows Update a few times.  After one of the patches, it seems now that the update crashes just on ' check for Updates '.  I never had problems or errors during installation or during the updates installed.

I made all the corrections here, with no luck:

    https://support.Microsoft.com/en-us/KB/971058

I have no problem with internet connectivity, nor do I have problems with the updater does not not before some updates that have been installed.  Can anyone suggest what is happening here and how to fix it?

    SUCCESS FINALLY!

I have installed KB3102810, restarted the computer, Windows Update started and he found 233 updates. Wow!.

The first 45 minutes of the update, it seemed that nothing was downloading, but I could see the hard drive activity light flashes, so I guessed something was going on. After about 50 minutes, started the first download.

After that, it took about seven hours to download and install all updates.

But finally it's finished, and after a restart, it instaedll a bit more updated and started on the desktop.

The first thing I did was to backup with Acronis True Image.

I'm so happy to be finally done chasing my tail with this problem. I drives me crazy to know that Microsoft is not doing anything on this problem. I lost too much of my time trying to fix this problem. I've never had a problem like this before.

But everything is good now. I hope that others can solve this problem, as I did.

  • Windows Update blocks the wi - fi connection

So I bought a computer brand new with windows 7, bought a new card network wireless (Netgear WNA1000) downloaded the most recent available windows compatible 7 discs on a friends computer and hey! I can connect. I turned off my computer after the windows update and now my wireless connection has 'limited connectivity' which means that I can't use my network. The only answer I found to do this on my own and after countless hours on the phone with netgear and geek squad is to run a system back restore before updates are installed and NEVER turned off my computer. I know that's not good for her. Someone at - it solutions? Oh I'm running on a WEP connection.

    2 disable anti-virus and connect.

  • Windows Update ran during the night, display is skewed

Windows last night ran an update. This morning, my screen is stretched from left to right. It looks a bit like the safe mode. All fonts, images, graphics, everything is stretched on the horizontal axis. No matter if I use Chrome or any other browser. If I cancel the update 'critical' it installed 11/06/14 it will be a fix?

Not an answer but a little more description. On the screen described above the icons was moved, once again, as is done in safe mode. I started the system restore. Before that took place, but after I open my laptop and found the screen was not distorted or stretched horizontally but not the photo filled the entire screen as it did on my monitor large flat screen. I undid the update and everything is back to normal.

Is there another way to solve this problem? I don't want to stop updates, but not is I want to keep going back behind them.

    Hello

This information applies to Windows 7 and Vista.

Do not install this update for these reasons:

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'bad' for your installation, or read the information provided on each update.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

    See you soon.

  • Windows 7 Professional 64-bit: Windows Update error Code 8E5E03FA

Okay, so I got Windows Update problems now for at least two months. I have worked with Microsoft technical support by e-mail and phone, but so far have had no luck, so I was hoping someone here might have an answer or an idea.

My computer has started giving 8E5E03FA error Code whenever I try to install windows updates. It would also sit at a standstill for always "checking for updates... "when I start updating windows. She has also always updates installed during shutdown, even if they never seem to install correctly. To try to remedy this situation, I tried a clean boot, I tried to use the tool of analysis of Windows 7, I tried to download the updates manually (they wouldn't install with error C80003FA), I tried to use the fixit tool to reset update windows (in aggressive and non-aggressive mode), I tried to manually reset windows update I ran ' sfc/scannow' (which has found errors that it could not solve), I tried an upgrade on the spot, and finally, I tried a clean install.

Once installed the clean, with nothing else installed, it wouldn't install updates, new fails with the error Code 8E5E03FA. It installs the office updates very well, he moved some other updates of the ms software very well, it installs the driver updated very well, but it seems not be able to install windows updates at all. At this point, there are 44 sitting in the pending updates, updates will be installed, which cannot be.

My computer also takes a lot of time to load completely once connected. The Office will be, but my anti-virus and the wifi won't start or connect to between 3-5 minutes after the connection, and trying to open anything during this period will not work. It seems that something is happening in the background that I'm not aware of.

Before the clean install, I ran the Windows 7 compatibility check and checked everything. So I'm at the end of my rope here, I don't really have any ideas on what to do. I put the windows update log and cbs logs if this will help.

Thanks in advance for any help that can be offered.

  • Problems with Windows Update after uninstalling SP2 (Vista Home Premium)

    Hello, everyone!

Two days ago, I tried to install SP2 through my Windows Update. During the installation and then restart, it stopped on step 3 (0%), ignored and open Windows normally. But, I realized that I had totally lost Aero (I didn't even have the option in the window color and appearance), and also Windows Update constantly gave me the message that I always important updates - SP2 has not installed correctly (I rebooted the computer several times to try to resolve this problem, but everything remained the same: stop on step 3) ", running Windows, and once again the message that I've updated important). I searched in various forums, but could not solve the problem, so I decided to uninstall SP2 via Control Panel. But it doesn't let me do that - whenever I clicked on the button uninstall, it says that the installation is not finished yet. So, I tried the system restore, but whenever I clicked it, an error message (that I didn't understand at all) appeared. So, I went into safe mode and tried the system restore and it worked (Control Panel uninstall option does not in Mode safe either), and everything is back to SP1. But now I have problems with Windows Update - I get the error message 0 x 8007002 (and even 0 x 8007005 several times). I tried everything I could find in the forums (the thing with automated updates service does not because I don't have this option in Services), but nothing works. If anyone has any advice whatsoever, I would be really grateful for that, because I don't know what to do.

For safety, I use NOD32 anti virus, Tall Emu Online Armor and ThreatFire.
