The machine seems to have hung over the windows update process - the rest of the screen to "do not turn off or unplug your machine." Installation update 16 of 18. At this point, he remained for over half an hour. What can I do?

Hi Alfredlee,

If the window is still blocked on the installation of update page, you can restart the computer, choose start normally and check what is happening.

Step 1:

If you are not able to boot normally to the desktop, you can consult the following link and try the steps.

The update is not installed successfully, you receive a message, and the computer restarts when you try to install an update in Windows Vista and Windows 7

Step 2: When you're able to start normally, check the history of update to discover updates failed by following the link:

See the Windows updates are installed

Step 3:

If there are updates failed, then try to download and install the stand-alone package with updates from the Microsoft Download Center.

a. to download updates from the Microsoft Download Center

b. Enter the item number in the field search and download the same.

c. double-click on the downloaded file.

d. click on run and follow the wizard to install it.

Hope this information is useful.

    Sirot,
It sounds as if there is something in the way of installation.  First of all, make sure that your system is free of malware\virus infections.  This thread has some great information on this topic: getting rid of malware.   If you do not find infections or even the question after removing them and then perform a clean boot , and then run updates.  Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

I was working on a computer, Windows XP Home Edition for a friend who was infected malware and had not been turned on since December.  I removed 135 malware and then decided to do the Windows updates.  Initially, he could get an IP address even when I put a static... I did some research and followed the instructions to recover from deformation of Winsock2.   Then I got on the Internet to make the updates of Windows.

It hung for more than 3 hours on software update 20 malicious 23... I didn't write any extra info - sorry.  I said to cancel updates and went back to bed. 4 hours later he said always Cancel updated so I hard booted the computer.  I couldn't bring up the Task Manager, nothing would happen.

Now when you click on a user, it hangs on loading personal settings or it go to the desktop, but you cannot open Internet Explorer or run programs.  You can click on start running, but if you type a command (cmd, regedit, msconfig) and click OK nothing happens.  If you try to restart in Mode safe mode using F8, and then select Safe Mode it will get as many load windowss\system32\drivers\agp440.sys, then he tells you the computer wasn't shutdown correctly and ask you to select the Mode.  I tried the Safe Mode, Safe Mode with network, Safe Mode command prompt, and I still can't mode without failure.   I also tried the last good known Configuration and that doesn't work anymore.

Finally I put a Windows XP Home CD into the CD player and I got it to boot from the CD Rom it says its inspection system for quite a long time and then it asks you to insert the Windows XP Home Service Pack 1 disc (that's all I had) CD and press.  I hit enter and I'm in a loop.

I can also do a start, stop, or restart, it just sits there.  I have to restart from the CPU.

Any ideas where I'm going from here?

I have an older HP DM4 with pre insalled Windows Home Premium 64-bit installed.  The computer was perfect until I chose to do the free update of Windows 10.  The upgrade was very laggy so I decided to make a recovery of the system to Windows 7 since the partition.

The recovery was working fine.  I registered in windows 7.  Downloaded the update has been invited to install the SP1, I did.  After installing SP1, it asked me to update from Microsoft Update.  What I did.  Once I click on "Check for Updates", and it does.  However, it is this. The green bar just hangs.  I waited all night and still nothing.

Therefore, I have reinstalled windows via recovery again option.  No luck... I searched the forums, deleted the files the forums told me to delete, deleted newspapers, ran a convenience store, disabled services.  Yet.  No luck.

I just reinstalled Windows 7 using the minimum version of HP.  Installs just the operating system and drivers necessary.  Yet.  The same problem. I have run CHKDSK, I downloaded the latest update of Windows.  Ive tried the ' turn windows manual update, reboot, turn back to auto restart. " Nothing.

Help, please... I got lost.  I can usually fix anything... This time I ask your help...

    Thank you...

I installed Windows once more.  Install the critical updates.  Install the Windows SP1.  This time you click on "Check for Update of Windows.  Waited for quite awhile.  Downloaded Malwarebytes.  Installed, he ran.  As Malwarebytes scan a 240 windows updates popped up.  Finally.  It worked! I am now completely updated and back on track. No, I don't think that Malwarebytes had nothing to do.  I also know that it was a new facility so Malwarebytes was not necessary.  I thought that my score could have a bug or something.  I'm just happy that it worked.  I'm sorry that I have no 'official' solution, especially for those who still have this problem.  Thanks for the reply.

  • IMPOSSIBLE TO DOWNLOAD OR INSTALL WINDOWS UPDATES

I get the 8007000 b error code what updated single download is judged and the computer crashes when I try to download several updates.  I have an emachines ET1161 and 3 GB ram, 320 GB HDD, 2.10 ghz 32-bit operating system.  I bought the new PC on 16/05/09 and last time that I was able to download the updates was mid-June.  I have more than 50 updates to download.  The computer works fine when it works.  It seems to crash a lot.  I also have my media on an external 500 GB hard drive and other media on a 120 GB external hard drive.  My computer will also not back up and restore one of external hard drives, but this is anotehr isue I think.  I hope some of these downloads will fix some of the issues that we had with accidents.  Anti-virus software is AVG and the firewall is always turned on.  I don't have a boot disk, because it did not come with the computer.  Windows vista is activated and authorized and came on the computer.  I have gone through the recommended steps and emptied the register or something and rebooted the computer, but it still does not go download windows updates.  Thanks for your help!

    Windows Update, Error 8007000 b

If you receive the 8007000 b error when you try to install Windows Vista updates, the Windows file system transaction log is damaged. The transaction log is used by the Windows file system to recover when a file error occurs. To correct this error of update, you clear the log. Here's how:

To clear the file system transaction log

    1. Click the button start . In the search box, type prompt commands, and then, in the list of results, right-click command prompt, and then click Run as administrator.

    2. In the command prompt window, type fsutil resource setautoreset true C:\. (This assumes that C: is the drive on which Windows Vista is installed. If Windows is installed on another drive, change the drive accordingly letter.)

    3. Restart your computer.

    4. Download and install the update again.

      Thank you.

UDAY $012 please let me know that whether the solution worked or not, I thank you and appreciate your comments.

  • Windows Update crashes at startup

Remember - this is a public forum so never post private information such as numbers of mail or telephone!

Ideas: Windows 7, install Windows updates KB2467023 and KB2393802 and freezes on the login screen, where he goes on to say: "before the computer, do not turn off your computer.

    • Windows Update
    • Freezes at "prepare your windows, do not turn off your computer."
    • I installed the beta version of Internet Explorer. There was an update for Internet Explorer 9, but thought that was the problem, so I removed the beta version. I am now in Internet Explorer 8, but Windows Update still crashes.
    • I already tried to start windows in Diagnostic Startup Mode and have even disabled all startup items, but that did not help as well. When Windows hangs at logon screen, I cold boot my system and restart mode without failure. Here, windows prompts me to this update of Windows has failed and does not change. It restarts after that and my computer works well but then again, in normal mode, Windows installs the updates again and invites me to restart. I'm back to the problem again.
    • Something to note is that I recently installed ObjectDock from Stardock. This is my first update after installation. But since I already booted in Diagnostic Mode and still Windows could not update, I have my doubts that ObjectDock is the issue here.
    Help, please.
