  • Task Scheduler stopped working after Windows updates

This just happened to one the many updates just installed.  Microsoft does not identify the Console as being updated but I did a restore + the task manager has been fine.

Installed November put up-to-date and Scheduler of tasks is still a Virgin is in one of the updates. hidden of course.  If someone found the number of update, please send along!

    Hello

Unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-an-update

When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again

"How to hide or show an update of Windows Vista"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/72491-Windows-Update.html

Here's how to chanage update settings, if you think it is necessary to:

"Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-updates-and-extras/

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

    See you soon.

  • Windows update code error B56

Please notify. Problems with updates from a few days ago. Updates, says windows encountered problems and gives the B56 error code. Latest updates were today for KB915597, update windows for windows defender. I'm running windows vista home Basic, service pack 2, 32-bit version. My ISP provides my safety - PC guard and I am currently on their total package. I also defragment and scans scheduled to run every morning at 01:00. I searched on the net but can't find B56. I checked my memory, and it says I have free on my disk C to 70% and 90% free on my disk S.

    Hello

What is the code exact error you get?

Temporarily disable all security software and check if it helps.

NOTE: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus
software. If you do not disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet
or a network during the time that your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.

Also check the updates failed and see if there are error messages in Windows Update.

    1. open Windows Update.
    2. click view update history.

You can also try to download and install the updates manually.

Make sure that the following services are started:

    ·    Background Intelligent Transfer Service
    ·    Cryptographic services
    ·     Windows Update

    Follow these steps:

    1. go to start and type services.msc and press to enter.
    2. from the list of services, search for the above mentioned services and see if they are started and set to automatic.
    3. If they are arrested, then right-click on the service and select start to start the service.

    Kind regards

  • HP Envy Rove 20 - Windows update breaks tapΘ 11

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has this problem? Any help appreciated.

    HP Envy Rove 20

    Windows 8.1

Windows - scheduled to run automatically updates

When windows update requires a reboot to install recently downloaded updates, I reboot and after restarting internet explore 11 poster not all web pages at all - just there is 'waiting for reply' of any url I type in, all other connected network applications work correctly (by email, news RSS norton internet security etc.).

This happens in the office as well as Win 8.1 mode mode (no difference). I tried to reboot several times after the update, remove temporary files, cookies, etc - all to no effect.

Other devices on my home network can view web pages etc without problems, internet connection, DNS, router wireless and Broadband BT are all ok. (I'm in the United Kingdom).

The only course of action to correct the problem seems to be a restore from the most recent restore point system (before the updates being downloaded. I also have HP support assistant installed and running (check the updates from HP etc..)

I tried to do a system restore, then install google chrome, running windows update again, install all the same updates, chrome has the same problem as IE11.

This happens very regularly - ideas out there?

    Thank you very much.

  • Need to run Windows Update online

    ========================================
I need to run Windows Update to www.update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/vistadefault.aspx instead of from the Panel.  Can I disable the "automatic" version, or is there another way to go beyond this?

The problem is that my ISP limits the size of downloads of the day, unless I have download only for a certain period of time during the night.  I can't afford to have my computer slow down to dial-up speed during the day below, and since I don't want to give general approval of Windows Update to download and install, I can not limit his schedule.

    Thank you in advance.

The error code is 'Windows Update error 80072ee2'. SO how to fix in a step-by-step fashion. I added the site proposed for the update in my antivirus while list.

    Hi Sarma_RN,

    1. When you receive the error message?

    2. update you are trying to install?

    3. When was the last time you were able to install updates?

If Windows Update, error 80072ee2 during updates, the Windows Update servers may experience an unusually high number of requests for updates. Close Windows Update, wait 10 to 15 minutes, and then run Windows Update again. Alternatively, you can wait for automatic update of Windows run at its next scheduled time.

These errors can occur caused by one of the following problems:

    • Applications or processes that interfere with Internet communications
    • Problems on your computer
    • Strong Internet activity
    • Recoverable database errors

See the Microsoft article and try the steps mentioned below.

You may encounter temporary connection related errors when you use Windows Update or Microsoft Update to install updates

It depends on the timeline.  If the scanning and cleaning of malware that you listed was made after February 12, then you can still be infected due to the restoration of the system.
Therefore, I would say that you are running an analysis of potential threats, before installing the updates.   Also, take a look at this sticky post:

  • Corrupted Windows Update? (Vista)

    Hello

I have problems with Windows Update on a Vista laptop. When I try to open the program, all I get is a blank window with nothing to click on. No text, no button.

I know that some time ago, I created WU to do updates automatically, but I want to regain control of the update process, as WU tries to install the updates on a daily basis and fails. It takes me 15 minutes every day after the restart before I can use my laptop.

    Can anyone help?

System Restore does not allow that the problem is older than the last restore point. I also tried to use my backup CD that I thought maybe I could reinstall Vista, but the laptop won't even use it for some reason any. I tried to reinstall WU from the site Web de Microsoft, but after doing so the problem was still there. I don't really know what to do!

    Thanks if you have answers.

  • I got the Conficker virus and now I can't get Windows Update to work

I got the Conficker Virus/worm infected my system, but have now got rid of him (I think).

I noticed yesterday that Windows Update has just stopped working, it has a red symbol X and said 'windows update cannot currently check updates because the service is not running'. Then, I figured that it could be a virus and tried to download AVG anti-virus, but the virus stopped me to access a website or a program to do with protection against viruses (including all Microsoft sites). Finally, I used a separate laptop and negative to download AVG and some other anti-virus/malware programs and down them mode without failure. I then ran Windows malware removal tool. That seems to have gotten rid of the virus (which has been identified as Conficker), I can now go to any Web site, so it seems that the virus is gone or disabled.

However I can not even access Windows Update. My guess is the virus disabled some component of it, but how now operate again? Is it possible to re-enable it manually? Or y at - it something that I can download to fix?
