  • 'new installed windows updates' shows is not in the notification area

    I figured!

    REPOST...

You will never see the pop up 'windows installed new updates' or the icon of updates when Defender auto-updates to update its definitions.

I'm not sure that understand what you mean by "auto-mises to day." The Defender only updates that I know are those I have download and install myself via Windows Update. (I have Windows Update to notify me when updates are ready to download and install the value). When I download and install an update of Defender I get a message 'windows installed new updates' like I did today and the 26, but has not the 25 that prompted my original message. So, I'm confused about your last response and how it solves the problem that I sometimes do not receive the message "windows installed new updates".

  • Installed a Windows Update and now 5 Lightroom keeps showing an error message, and then exits.

Windows Update and now when I try to open Lightroom it gives me a message that says "Lightroom has encountered an error when reading it is an overview of the cache and will try again during the reboot" reboot is not good at all.

The problem you are experiencing is not related to an update of Windows. The preview cache is corrupt. You must use Windows Explorer or the Finder to open the folder that contains your catalog. Find the folder that has the extension .lrdata and delete the entire folder. Then, launch Lightroom as you normally would. Lightroom will be in the construction of a new Preview file and you should be able to continue normally.

I don't know the reason, but a lot of people have experienced this same problem. Take a look at the more "like this" list to the right of this message. It is more common than you might expect.

This should be corrected from Flash Player 15.0.0.189.  Run Windows Update and make sure you have the latest.

These wireless internet connections are generally neither strong enough nor reliable enough to update your computer.

Unplug the card (delete) the air then connect to the internet via a modem cable or ADSL (for example, to the to a friend or your local library). Now open Internet Explorer (only) to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com . Select CUSTOM and scan | Install all security critical updates available (e.g. KB980182).  If an update of root certificates is listed in the category of optional software updates on the left side of the scan results window, install it to enjoy enhanced Internet Explorer security.

NOTE: If IE8 is not already installed, do NOT install it via Windows Update! Just hide it ("don't show me this update") for now.

  • Windows update KB951847 - cannot install

    original title: update KB951847 windows

Why can't I install this download of windows. Windows Update won't install (KB951847).

KB951847 is an option, not the security update. Feel free to hide it.

    1. stop the service automatic updates: Windows XP

    Start > run > (type in) services.msc > [OK]
Double-click automatic updates > click stop
(Stopping the service will take a moment)

2 remove the contents of the download folder:

    Start > run > (type in) %windir%\SoftwareDistribution > [OK]
Open the download folder and delete its contents
    Close the window.

    3. go to the Windows Update Web site. Select CUSTOM and allow the analysis to be performed. Uncheck the box/deselect KB951847 and hide ("don't show me this update").

Tip: If an update of root certificates is listed in updates software optional (in the menu on the left), install it to take full advantage of enhanced Internet Explorer security, but do NOT install any other optional software , nor updates optional hardware , just hide them, too.

    4. start the automatic updates service:

    Start > run > (type in) services.msc > [OK]
Double-click automatic updates > click Start
(Starting the service will take a moment)

  • Downloaded and installed Windows updates. Running to find the modified theme and no clear Vista theme.

Can someone explain what happened? All the available themes are the current non-transparent theme, called 'Modified Theme' and the classic Windows theme.

It's really strange and really very boring, simply because I didn't ask for this.

    Hello

Microsoft gives sometimes you updates for the 3rd party hardware: graphics, network cards, etc.

You should only get the latest drivers for them to real hardware manufacturer's website, as Microsoft normally does nor those have the most recent drivers available as Microsoft relies of the 3rd party hardware Manufactuer to provide.

But unfortunately, the only way to know which is the update of the problem is to install them one by one, until you find the 'wrong' for your installation.

You can do a system restore to get back until it has been installed (which is NOT the best way to remove an update) or follow this method:

    'Remove an update'

    http://Windows.Microsoft.com/en-us/Windows-Vista/remove-an-update

When you have found the issue of update of the list of updates which is presented > then right click on the update problem > select Hide update > and it will not be available to you once again

"How to hide or show an update of Windows Vista"

    http://www.Vistax64.com/tutorials/72491-Windows-Update.html

Here's how to chanage update settings, if you think it is necessary to:

"Understanding Windows Update and Extras in Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/Windows-Vista-updates-and-extras/

    Or the other of these two update settings will give you the chance to see what you want to install through Windows updates;

Download updates but let me choose whether to install them - if you select this option, Windows will download the updates on your computer, but not install them automatically. If you want to install updates, then you must install them manually. You should only select this option if you have a reason to not install updates automatically. Only advanced users should use this option.

Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them - if you select this option, you'll be alerted when there are new updates available for download and install. You can then choose to download and install the updates that you want. This option should really be reserved for people who know exactly which updates they need, or those who have little access to the Internet.

But remember you normally only have problems with hardware 3rd party drivers. Other updates are to improve the Performance and security of your system

    See you soon.

November 25, Windows Update told me of new updates and I chose the option to install the fix and the stop in the night and the system has been blocked to install update 3 of 5 for all night and then I had to turn off the system and remove the battery and restart the system. Kindly help me to solve the problems

    Thank you & best regards
    Sirot

    Sirot,
It sounds as if there is something in the way of installation.  First of all, make sure that your system is free of malware\virus infections.  This thread has some great information on this topic: getting rid of malware.   If you do not find infections or even the question after removing them and then perform a clean boot , and then run updates.  Mike - Engineer Support Microsoft Answers

  • Windows Update fails to install with error code 8e5e03fb

15 July Windows Update suddenly stopped to download and install some important files required to update Vista Home Premium SP1. The error code is still 8e5e03fb, not recognized by Microsoft, although I saw messages on Forums dating back to April 2009, mentioning only the code. I worked with Alan Leon, Support Engineer, but without success. Some updates pass through but none are helpful to the OS or Internet Explorer. So far, none of the Knowledge Base articles have been useful. Only one file, c:\windows\system32\dllcache\wucltui.dll, is missing from my system, but Alan Leon has not confirmed that it might be relevant. Alan suggested that my problem might be connected connection but his suggested change my settings did not bring the expected results. My ISP has a function that allows me to see the data to flow both up and down. When data are sent or received, it can be seen clearly but when Windows Update is running, there is no data flow showing.

    % systemroot%\system32\CatRoot\{F750E6C3-38EE-11D1-85E5-00C04FC295EE}

If any of the files that begin with tmp exist in this folder, do not remove any other files. Files .cat in this folder are necessary for installing hotfixes and service packs.

Important: Do not rename the folder C:\windows\system32\catroot. The Catroot2 folder is automatically recreated by Windows, but the C:\windows\system32\catroot folder is not recreated if is renamed the folder C:\windows\system32\catroot.

  • Office Jet 5740: installed windows 10 now cannot install updates from HP

I keep getting notifications that update for printer fails.  That's the message "HP - business WSD multifunction printer, MFP, other materials - Null Fax - HP Officejet 5740 series" the functions of the printer, I also saw that there is new software available for this printer but do not know if I could install with Windows 10

    Hi @Gwpmd,

Once the printer is working, the option would be to ignore the printer software updates or you can try these external resources, which have some progress.

A poster tried to show or hide updates and it solved their problem.

You can also give your feedback to Microsoft, and if all goes well, they will release an update to correct the function of the operating system. You can learn how here;  Updates and feedback.

If you're just trying to uninstall Internet Explorer 8, you can try to do is a system restore to before Internet Explorer 8 has been installed or by using the FixIt tool at the following link: http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/help/448b12c8-83f3-47c1-aa26-5d4a8e6422461033.mspx
