Windows Update (Vista64) stopped to watch updates
My PC (Vista 64-bit) is configered to automatically apply the updates. It is now 22:00 13 August Patch Tuesday came and went and no updates have been installed. If I start looking for updates manually, it says (translated from German):
Updates were raided last: 2016 - 08-09 at 05:15
This date and time is before Patch Tuesday officially begins. There is a time difference of six hours between Vienna and the East coast of the United States, while it was before midnight Monday when updates were looked for a last and nothing was found.
When I try manually looking for updates of the machine is sitting there for hours (sometimes with a high utilization of the processor), but nothing is found until I have give up and shut down the PC.
Is updated to Windows Vista now broken?
All the updates listed in the table above to wu.krelay.de need to be installed. If your installation is as recent as day July patch, install only KB3177725 could solve the problem. The value of the automatic updates to 'never check updates' and restart Windows before installation manual.
Best regards, VZ

Cannot turn off my computer because it shows 'Stop Down Windows Update Service.'
Original title: Closing Windows problem - Sony VAIO *.
Dear Microsoft,
I have Windows 7 Ultimate on a Sony VAIO VPCEB1S0E. I had a problem of closure.
When I press Shut Down, he repeats to me 'Shutting Down'. He never stops. I had worked on a project until 23:00. I closed everything and click Shut Down. The next day I awoke to find my cell phone always gives me the Shutting Downmessage.
I searched on google and then edited a file in the registry. I think I found a problem. Now when I turn it on, it says Preparation Office rather than Welcome. And when it stops, he repeats to me Shutting Down Service Windows Update. A minute later, it says Configuration Windows. Do not connect the power supply or Shut Down. These are not the exact words.
Each time, I've been force judgment of my laptop. One day, I came across a message in the lower right of my screen saying that this copy of Windows is not genuine... Finally, I managed to resolve the issue with 'Chkdsk '.
I do not take any more risks. so now, I'm watching my laptop each time rather than Shut it Down.
I did a clean boot, about 4 days ago. Then, I opened "msconfig" and all compatible services. And click on restart. That really worked. Without stopping Force, which actually stop and restart. Well, maybe it was a coincidence that it won't happen again.
I opened Windows Update and tried to install the latest updates. Which failed. He couldn't find new updates. Could this be my antivirus blocking access? I have Avast Internet Security.
It would be GREAT if the problem can be solved
Thank you!
Hi Stephanie,.
Thank you for your reply,
Provide us the error code from the update failed with number of KB. So that we can help you accordingly.
Follow the steps below and check if this can help,
Step 1:
I suggest you to temporarily disable Avast Internet Security and check if it helps to solve the problem.
Note: Antivirus software can help protect your computer against viruses and other security threats. In most cases, you should not disable your antivirus software. If you need to disable temporarily to install other software, you must reactivate as soon as you are finished. If you are connected to the Internet or a network, while your antivirus software is disabled, your computer is vulnerable to attacks.
If the problem persists, follow step 2

Hello ms_frustrated,
I recommend that you perform a repair installation. It would be the fastest way and repair you the computer and while still keeping your documents. PLEASE SAVE YOUR SYSTEM VISTA FIRST. The link below explains how to perform a repair installation. After your installation, verify that Windows update works before installing anything.

Windows Update often wants to restart the computer after an update. If you say "not now" (or ignore?), he will later pop up a question "reboot now?" in a bubble of task bar. INCREDIBLY, it will at that time take keyboard focus of everything that happens and then accept what he gets as a response from the user. This means that if the user was in the middle of typing something, the following sequence of keys will enter the bubble "you want to restart" instead of some request the user was in the middle of the help. It's very bad.
Here is what just happened to me. I was in the middle of typing a document when the keyboard focus was suddenly taken by the issue of recovery, a fraction of a second later, the following combination of keys, he disappeared - I have no idea what hit it. Fortunately, I saw the flash and guess what had happened and quickly you press 'save' on my request. A few seconds later, my application has been closed as the machine restarted.
I think that the bubble of Windows Update SHOULD NOT STEAL the KEYBOARD FOCUS. I think it's dangerous and bad design.
What is the best way to communicate this suggestion to the team of Windows Update?
Is there a setting to stop Windows Update to do this? (Stop stealing keyboard focus)
I use Vista Home Premium
I'm looking for a Microsoft solution for the specific problem I described, and/or advice on where post for better attention to Microsoft to "design problem".
None of us are obstruction you. If we knew a way to avoid this problem (problem), we would have mentioned it earlier in this thread.
You aren't the first person to complain about this and I'm sure you won't be the last. According to Microsoft, you have two options:
1 use an automatic updates setting other Automatic (for example, download updates but let me choose whether to install them). or...
2. turn off the automatic updates and get your updates manually (which I don't recommend).

How can I get windows update to stop suggesting updates, I know that I don't want.
I have windows update set to alert me when there are updates available, but let me choose who is accepted. That's how I like it, and I don't want to change this setting. However, I don't want to know if there's a way to deny successfully an update, so that I'm not yet on this subject whenever I start my computer. It's a gene. I want to just delete some of the list. I don't want to stop doing alerts on updates that I can accept. I'm on vista Home premium. Thank you.

Blue screen of death (stop 0x0000007B) after April Windows Update on XP Home.
My machine (Dell Dimension 3100 with XP Home) home is set for automatic recovery of Windows updates. I reload often, but when I was forced to start again last week, I got the blue screen of death. Apart from the general BSOD error message, I got the stop code:
STOP 0x0000007B...
I forgot the subsequent stop codes, but search recall I was doing on them indicated drivers disk or storage-related problem.
I ran all sorts of Dell diagnostics on my hardware, get absolutely no problem. Scan of a viral infection was also negative. A colleague help out me suggested removing the updates of Windows of April, he did help and usefulness of the ERD. XP loaded and started after that, if I had to go through a process of slooow restart for most updates. My office also now charge many times slower - I suspect drivers and services can't find what they expect to find and take considerable time to make mistakes.
My Dell has a range of Intel (RAID-1) matrix installed. I strongly suspect that this pilot was in trouble after the April update Windows Update.
So, what should I do to prevent this from happening again? I don't know the specific fix involved. I have disabled the automatic updates for now.
TIA
Rick
Complete sweep of Kaspersky AV, booted from the CD, turned up negative, so I doubt that it is an infection.
I'm sorry, but this does not exclude the possibility of infection. See step # 3 in my previous response, or contact Ms. PCSafety for assistance.
Or see http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff559218 (VS.85) .aspx and/or http://aumha.org/a/stop.php#0x7b for more troubleshooting ideas.
Or if you let Windows Update to install an update for the driver (never a good idea), try a roll-back of pilot.
