My internet speed is fine in fact, everything is going well except for the download problem. I'm not advanced with computers but can follow directions. Any help would be appreciated because I have eleven important to install updates!

Post what updates have not been installed and what is the error code received you.  Windows Update, you can go > view installed updates, and then select the updates failed to see what error caused.

Here is a thread with a few generic troubleshooting.  You can see if there are steps that you have not yet tried.

  • Windows updates could not be downloaded or installed

The last date on which Windows updates have been installed correctly on my PC has been on 12 August.  Since that date something prevents me to install new updates.  Whenever I click on the "Install updates" button on the box "Download and install new updates on my computer" for Windows Update tent to start downloading (the green progress bar appears for a second or two), but then my PC back to the "yellow shield with the message box"download and install the new update on my computer".  At first I thought it was just busy at Microsoft, so I waited until a 'downtime' to try again.  Same no result... no download.  Several updates again 'important' security, but also the other "Recommended" updates are waiting for download and install, but I can't understand how prevents download of launch.  I ran my anti-virus several times more than my 2 x a week all the scan in the hope that there is some sort of bug that prevented my access to Windows Update, but no luck.  I also read a lot of Forums to see if there are other users having this problem of sam and have not seen any other comments.

There is another bug that I have yet to understand that everything began to happen within the last week and there may be a link between the inside and the problem I am having with Windows Update.  I have a dialog box that is displayed on my screen for less than one second every 10 seconds or more.   I have read this program is located on the area and it's "C:\\Windows\system32\wuauclt\exe", but sometimes, the dialog box that appears is 'C:\\Windows\system32\SndVol\exe' and in the box itself, it says "program too big to fit in memory".

I have a Dell XPS M1530 and Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 installed.  32-bit Intel Core II Duo CPU T8100 @ 2.10 GHz and 4.00 GB RAM

Any Suggestions on how to fix any of these issues?

    Hello DAN to GO.

Try to start your system in safe mode:

    1. Restart your computer if it is running.
    2. Press and hold the F8 key for 3 seconds after your computer powers initially on.
    3. Once you see the menu Advanced Boot Options, you can stop tapping.
    4. Up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
    5. Select Mode safe mode with networking and press ENTER.
    6. You should see drivers loading, it may take a few moments.
    7. You should then be at the Welcome screen.
    8. Connect to your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
    9. Now, you download (free) MalwareBytes from here: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol install, Update then do a scan of your system in safe mode, to ensure that it is indeed clean! Once the scan done remove anything it finds. Simply restart your PC to see if your problem has been resolved!

To resolve this problem, use the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to determine which file is causing the problem, then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:

    1. Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
    2. Type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow (Yes there is a space after sfc) the sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.

Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

    Hello Darrin,

Thanks for posting your query on the Microsoft Community.

According to the description, the Windows updates take a long time to find the updates.

I suggest to follow the methods below and check if that helps.

Method 1: If your computer is experiencing problems find and install updates of the operating system, try using the troubleshooter.to of update of Windows the problem fix. He makes sure your computer is connected to the Internet and checks to see if your network card and Windows Update services are running properly.

    Reference:

Open the Windows Update troubleshooting tool

If the problem persists, try Method 2,

Method 2: run the clean boot: Place your system in the clean boot state helps determine if third-party applications or startup items are causing the problem. Check this question in the clean boot state.

Reference: How to perform a clean boot in Windows

  • Updates for Windows 7 take hours even to collect the list of updates to install.

I have a new install of Windows 7. It takes several hours just to collect the list of installed updates and many more hours to download and install those I select Install. What's wrong? It's as if there is only 1 server to support Windows 7 on Earth. So if I have a problem with the installation and have to reinstall Windows 7, I have to start this process long download. I have a fast computer.

    Help, please

    Thank you, Brad

It takes the last update client for windows update work, included in KB3161608, and on a new installation, but also its sine qua non, KB3020369.

Make sure you do not have a search of update running in the background when you install manually.

idk what's going on, but when I download stuff and left on overnight to finish, it pop up in the morning and say "your computer is not started right."<--usually meaning="" my="" computer="">

If anyone can help, I would be happy

I can't give you a simple answer because it must identify the cause of the problem before you can solve it.  That's what will make these procedures. If you really want a simpler answer, just do a repair/upgrade system as described above (which is almost the last option resort) and who will most likely solve the problem without going through all the other measures that are designed to avoid this option if possible...

    I hope this helps.

When I click on "try again" on the Windows Update page, I just get the same error again and again.

Website of help Windows says that it would be a problem with my computer as it came with Vista Home Basic already installed on it.

    Hello!

The search in the Microsoft Knowledge Base takes only a few minutes and so I founded this article:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/883825/

It s not the same error that you have, but to resolve the problem, you must disable the antivirus and perhaps also the firewall.
    Check it!

  • Why is 10.11.2 updated 12 hours to download?

last night I updated my MBP with the 10.11.2 update which was 1.46 GB apex, it took a little more than 12 hours to download the update, which continues?

My internet speed is fine when I surf the net, but every time I update on the app store its takes hours and hours for the smaller download.

    Feeling very frustrated.

    Anyone knows why, please?

    Jen

You use an Ethernet or wireless?  Wireless connections will be slower than ethernet when it comes to download speeds.  I don't know if 12 hours, - this seems excessively slow.

  • I tried with windows update and manually to download vista service pack 2, but these two don't

I tried with windows update and manually download vistal SP2 but fails both: the process takes time and when download reaches 100% there is a message that says that the file is corrupted in the disk, I tried to check readers for bad mistakes, too, but the same problem persists.

It may be a corrupted catalog file.  However, it can also be a corrupted system file.  In the latter case, the System File Checker may be able to fix it.  Click Start, type "cmd" in the search/Run box and right-click on the CMD icon at the top of the results pane.  Select run as administrator.  When the cmd window type "sfc/scannow" at the prompt and press ENTER.  When the scan is finished, close the cmd window.  Alternatively, you can try to install clean or safe mode boot mode.  See

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/331796

The procedure should work the same for Windows 7 and Vista.

Enter the Mode safe mode by starting the cold computer and pressing the key function F8 repeatedly as soon as the manufacturer splash screen appears.

  • Windows updates take too long to install why?

    Original title: Windows Vaio updates

I agree allow updates process, but the screen showed the progression of 30% for half an hour. Then I decided to turn off and on again once as (no progress for half an hour) seemed normal. How long these updates usually take? Thank you

    Hi JeanWo,

Thanks for choosing Microsoft Community to post your question. I understand the inconvenience caused because of the frozen computer. Amount of time it takes to install the updates, depends on the total number of updates and their size. Please be patient and let the updates to install. If it is too long, please follow this link suggestions.

Windows Update crashes when installing updates in Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2700567/en-us

System Restore warning: When you use system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, the programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

Antivirus warning: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

Note When you use the 'Refresh your PC' tool, your computer will render you the current Windows installation to the original installation version. Edit: More info.  I use Windows Firewall and that you have not disabled the default settings.

McAfee is come with the PC but uninstalled the end of the free trial period - it was almost a year

You should have uninstalled the McAfee AND THEN downloaded app / run the McAfee Consumer products removal tool before installing Microsoft Security Essentials (or any other anti-virus application) and you should have done BEFORE the free trial period had expired.
