If anyone can help, I would be happy
I can't give you a simple answer because it must identify the cause of the problem before you can solve it. That's what will make these procedures. If you really want a simpler answer, just do a repair/upgrade system as described above (which is almost the last option resort) and who will most likely solve the problem without going through all the other measures that are designed to avoid this option if possible...
I hope this helps.
Good luck!

Windows updates could not be downloaded or installed
The last date on which Windows updates have been installed correctly on my PC has been on 12 August. Since that date something prevents me to install new updates. Whenever I click on the "Install updates" button on the box "Download and install new updates on my computer" for Windows Update tent to start downloading (the green progress bar appears for a second or two), but then my PC back to the "yellow shield with the message box"download and install the new update on my computer". At first I thought it was just busy at Microsoft, so I waited until a 'downtime' to try again. Same no result... no download. Several updates again 'important' security, but also the other "Recommended" updates are waiting for download and install, but I can't understand how prevents download of launch. I ran my anti-virus several times more than my 2 x a week all the scan in the hope that there is some sort of bug that prevented my access to Windows Update, but no luck. I also read a lot of Forums to see if there are other users having this problem of sam and have not seen any other comments.
There is another bug that I have yet to understand that everything began to happen within the last week and there may be a link between the inside and the problem I am having with Windows Update. I have a dialog box that is displayed on my screen for less than one second every 10 seconds or more. I have read this program is located on the area and it's "C:\\Windows\system32\wuauclt\exe", but sometimes, the dialog box that appears is 'C:\\Windows\system32\SndVol\exe' and in the box itself, it says "program too big to fit in memory".
I have a Dell XPS M1530 and Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 installed. 32-bit Intel Core II Duo CPU T8100 @ 2.10 GHz and 4.00 GB RAM
Any Suggestions on how to fix any of these issues?
Hello DAN to GO.
Try to start your system in safe mode:
- Restart your computer if it is running.
- Press and hold the F8 key for 3 seconds after your computer powers initially on.
- Once you see the menu Advanced Boot Options, you can stop tapping.
- Up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
- Select Mode safe mode with networking and press ENTER.
- You should see drivers loading, it may take a few moments.
- You should then be at the Welcome screen.
- Connect to your computer using an account with administrator privileges.
- Now, you download (free) MalwareBytes from here: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?tag=mncol install, Update then do a scan of your system in safe mode, to ensure that it is indeed clean! Once the scan done remove anything it finds. Simply restart your PC to see if your problem has been resolved!
To resolve this problem, use the tool (SFC.exe) System File Checker to determine which file is causing the problem, then replace the file. To do this, follow these steps:
- Open an elevated command prompt. To do this, click Start, click principally made programs, Accessories, right-click guest, and then click run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.
- Type the following command and press ENTER: sfc/scannow (Yes there is a space after sfc) the sfc/scannow command analyzes all protected system files and replaces incorrect versions with appropriate Microsoft versions.
Hope this helps you. Let us know anyway. Make it a great day!

Windows Update on Vista stalls download at 33%
As the title says!
I am running Vista Home Premium and Windows Update stops at 33% when downloading updates and goes no further. Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thank you!
Edit: More info. I use Windows Firewall and that you have not disabled the default settings.
McAfee is come with the PC but uninstalled the end of the free trial period - it was almost a year
You should have uninstalled the McAfee AND THEN downloaded app / run the McAfee Consumer products removal tool before installing Microsoft Security Essentials (or any other anti-virus application) and you should have done BEFORE the free trial period had expired.

Malwarebytes worm: 1.46
SpyBot S & D worm: 1.6.2

This is my first post on this forum so excuse all the errors in the placement of the info.
WU, MU will not install the updates downloaded or optional updates selected. No error code is given, it remains at 0% for as long I leave or I cancel installation. I tried to install individually in MS catalogue still will not be installed. This is a new computer that I built in July and punishment, it has not been used. It's strange because for the first three weeks of this computer, I had no problem with the installation of all available updates, or anything else. Then when the updates of August were available I chose all security updates and install optional updates that have already downloaded click on the button and nothing happened, it remained only on 0%. My question is, is there an update that was given earlier that caused these updates not installed? I really want to use my new computer, but I don't like to run without new security and the latest updates. I had trouble before what do.
I used all the security software listed above on all my computers for about 5 to 10 years and non of them are set to prevent windows update from working.
Please try another attempt to update, y d diddty. During the update installation fails again, close Windows Update.
Open the WindowsUpdate.log and copy & paste in at least the last 50 lines or so, in your response, please.
How to read the Windowsupdate.log fileMeanwhile, suggest to configure Windows 7 to the clean boot and see if he can install updates in the clean boot state.
How to troubleshoot a problem by performing a clean boot in Windows Vista or in Windows 7NOTE: in the Clean boot state ZoneAlarm will be disabled. Make sure that the native Win 7 firewall is now on in the Panel.
While in the clean boot state, you can also try to download and Save the Fixit found here -How to reset the Windows Update components?
Once the download completes close all open programs and browsers.
Now launch Microsoft Fixit 50202.msi and choose the default mode.
When it has finished turn the system reboot to clean it from same start State and see if updates can install now.If no joy, run the Fixit once more and choose aggressive mode.
Then restart on the same State of clean boot and see if update succeeds now.Expert MowGreen Windows IT Pro - consumer safety

Blue screen of death after installing Windows updates that are automatically downloaded
My computer got up until I get the blue screen whenever I try to install a Windows Update automatically downloaded. The list of updates pending installation are KB978207, KB974470, KB971644, KB972270, KB905866, KB960362 and KB890830. The first time that I have updated I just had the system install 7 all at the same time. I got the blue screen and the computer may not restart normally. Made the system restore and I tried to install each update one at a time. 7 all finished by gives me the blue screen with no reboot successfully after one of them. I don't know what to do next.

If anyone can help?
First try this...
Download and run the Microsoft .NET Framework repair tool , then visit Windows Update and let it try to reinstall updates. Once it's done, scan again with Windows Update to ensure that they properly installed.
If this does not fix it try this...
Uninstall the .NET Framework 1.1.
Reinstall .NET Framework 1.1
Download and install. NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
Visit Windows Update or Microsoft Update and let it install the rest of the 1.1 updates, including KB2833941I would like to know what method worked for you.

My multi-monitor desktop Win XP through a long Windows update yesterday. Starting this morning, button bar and try to start at the bottom of the screen are no longer present. My table of multi-monitor configuration has changed radically in view/settings. All the tabs on the Task Manager are missing - with the exception of the processes tab. All keyboard and mouse commands have been disabled. To restart, I had to unplug the computer from power. Restart twice again obtained the same results. As there was no apparent way to start programs and features in Windows (Control Panel, Windows Explorer, Manager tasks, etc.) I resorted to a Safe Mode system restore after snatching the lead for the third time.
It seems that a system restore is the only cure for this, and I started this operation. Updates of various sellers require me to use to restore the system several times each month. I learned to fear the automatic updates for fear that they will cost hours and days of recovery since the "cure" for other ailments that are not obvious to me. The last update all deleted antivirus controls volume and their icons. I have still not got their back. But I digress...My questions:What I've done wrong?Should I disable updates? How can I make sure that the updates stop disabling my computer? What are your recommendations to repair the damage?Thank you.Craig Olssonemail deleted
Hi Craig,.
Follow these steps and check if the problem persists.
Step 1:
I would say you turn off the automatic updates (not recommended however) and install the updates manually ensuring that you will refrain from any installation problem causing updates unless it says "important updates.
a. log in Windows XP to your administrator account. Click 'Start', then right-click "My computer" and select "Properties".
b. Select the "Automatic updates" tab and then click on "Turn off automatic updates."
c. click 'OK' to turn off the automatic updates.Step 2:
You can also test the issue in a State of clean boot in safe mode (after installing updates).
Note: Don't forget to restart your computer as usual.
