Windows Viewer error Photo Gallery

I can open the Windows Photo Gallery and see the photos, but will receive tries to open a photo than staes, I get an error "an error prevents the Windows Photo Gallery Viewer start."  I also have Picasa 3 on my computer. Both programs have been able to view the photos after installation, but know that I'm having a problem with the Windows Photo Gallery Viewer.

Hi Zbolts,

To resolve this isse, I recommend that you run the System File Checker.
This will check for corrupted Windows system files and replace them with
a new copy. Use the following steps to run the System File Checker:

1. click on the Start button.
2. in the search box, type command prompt.
3. in the list of results, right-click Guest, and then click
Run as administrator. If you are prompted for an administrator password
confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
4. type the following command and press ENTER.

sfc/scannow

  • Cannot view my pictures in Windows - coming souvenir photo gallery upward with a pink screen!

Recently when I go to in my photo folders and try to view an of my my photos or images it is endlessly with a pink full screen with a slight preview of the photo (a bit like a photo negative!) Have you tried to change the color and other levels out a bit of luck. This was never a problem until a week ago. Have just got a new Philips monitor 190SW, it would have something to do with it? Any help or ideas on what could cause this problem or how to fix this would be appreciated.

    Hi Dave D

Discovered that the problem was with the new monitor. The problem occurs because an incorrect color profile is used for the device to monitor in color management. When Windows Live Photo Gallery uses the incorrect color profile to manage settings of color for the images, the image may not appear as expected. Note: Microsoft Paint and Microsoft Windows Picture and Fax Viewer does not use color profiles to manage the parameters of color for the images.

I had to do the following (instructions for anyone else having a similar problem). For Windows Vista only.

    1. click on START, type color management in the Search box and press ENTER.

    2. in the color management dialog box, click to select the use my settings for this device check box.

    3. in the list of profiles associated with this device , click the color profile you want to remove and then click RemoveNote if you receive a warning message, click Yes.

    4. click close, and then restart the computer.

Hope this helps someone else with a similar problem.

    El Gringo.

Change the associations of the image on your system has no effect the
recipients of an e-mail message. Who controls just what program
starts when you open a photo on your system.

BTW... If you are referring to Adobe Reader... it is to view .pdf files
and is not useful for photos.

If your photos are JPEG (.jpg) files your recipients should be able to
    to view them.

  • Windows poster thumb Photo Gallery old nails - before disappearing?

So I opened the Windows since the menu photo gallery programs for the first time in 4 years since I bought this desktop computer, 2 years since my last restore.  When I opened it a bunch of thumb of all photos I saved it all popped about ten seconds before disappearing, there are pictures of me and some friends that I thought had been deleted and I was wondering if this means that they are stored somewhere on my hard drive? This would mean a lot if they could be recovered! I am running Windows Vista.

    =============================================
Photo Gallery has an exclusive database that includes inches
    and metadata.

Thumbs have been generated when the photos were
actually on your hard drive... and since the photo gallery
been closed because the files have been deleted... the database has been
    not updated.

Photo Gallery reopening has to update the database
and purge the thumbs for photos that are no longer on your hard drive.

Sometimes deleted files can be recovered from the hard drive
but after several months or years have elapsed the chance is next to
Impossible since they are replaced with other files.

I'm having a problem accessing the Import tab I can change the folder where I want my photos to import into. The AutoPlay option is not a solution to this problem because the import option is no longer in existence within the Windows Live Photo Gallery. By following these steps, I'll show you where the problem occurred. Go to Windows Live Photo Gallery > file > Options > general/import/Tags > import >? White screen? There is no option. The same thing happens if I go to Windows Live Photo gallery > file > import from a camera or scanner > camera memory card > guest import pictures and videos > Options >? does not respond when you click the button options. Is there a solution that exists? I have not yet found one.

  • Windows 7 - Live Photo Gallery Screen Saver - filename option, the peak, freezing and will not sleep

I just upgraded from Windows XP. There are a few features that I miss and I don't know if there is anyway to get.
    1. under XP, you might have the name of the file appears in the corner of the image when the screen saver is running. Really useful to find the photos you want to send or ID'ing the image. A way to get this feature in Win7?
    2. the key would freeze the current image. In Win7, he now wakes the computer. In any case to freeze the pictures in screen saver mode?
    3. not sure how much it is related to the screen saver, but the monitor and computer are both set to get to sleep after 1 hour. Happens. Even a day or two later, she is still ongoing.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

Here is the solution.  Ssmypics.SCR of the copy of your old XP machine in the directory c:windows:system32 of Windows 7 machine.  then the old screen saver is available in settings.  has worked for me!

  • Large Images in Windows Photo Gallery

I use Windows Vista Ultimate Edition. After the digitization of slides using a scanner Plustek OpticFilm to 10000 DPI, I am unable to open images in Windows Photo Gallery. I get this error - 'Photo Gallery can't open this photo or video. The file appears to be damaged or corrupted. »

    Hello martinw56,

Thank you for using the Microsoft Windows Vista Forums.

Sorry, you have a problem with that!  Have you tried the steps below with respect to the scanning of a picture with Windows Photo Gallery?  Do you have in the past been able to scan pictures with your current scanner and upload pictures to the photo gallery?

Please let us know status.  Thank you!

    Scan a picture
    http://windowshelp.Microsoft.com/Windows/en-us/help/66c76a19-97e7-492d-b3bf-a9c574c81f521033.mspx#ex

Before you begin, make sure that you have installed the scanner to the computer and the scanner is powered.

    1.

Windows Photo Gallery by clicking on the button Start , allprograms, and then clicking Windows Photo Gallery.

    2.

Click fileand then click import from device scanner or photo.

    3.

In the window import pictures and videos , click the scanner that you want to use, and then click import.

    4.

In the new scan dialog box, click the list of profiles , and then click the picture. The default settings to scan an image appear automatically.

    5.

If you're using a scanner with a document feeder, click the paper size list, and then click the size of the image that you have placed on the scanner or click on the size that is similar to the image.

    6.

Click the color format list, and then click the color format that you want the scanned file to display.

    7.

Click the type of file list, and then click the file type that you want to use to save the scanned file.

    8.

Click the list Resolution (DPI) , and then click the resolution, in dots per inch, that you want to use.

    9.

Adjust the settings for brightness and contrast, or type the values that you want to use.

    10.

To see how the image will appear when it is scanned, click Preview. If necessary, change the scan settings, and then preview the image again. Repeat these steps until you are satisfied with the results of the overview. Some scanners may require that place you the image in the charger whenever you are scanning.

    11.

Click on scan. When the scan is complete, Windows Photo Gallery invites you to mark the image so that it is easier to organize or find later.

    12.

In the list tag these pictures (optional) , type a tag name, and then click import. Windows Photo Gallery displays the picture, so you can view, difficulty or organize.

Because Windows detects your newest pictures and doesn't matter the duplicate versions of the old photos that you've already copied to your computer, it is now easy to import your photos into the folder of photos in a single step. In addition, we recommend that you consult your pictures in Photo Gallery, where large previews make it easy to decide which newly imported imported pictures to delete from your computer. »

Windows detects your images and your most recent videos and is not a duplicate of the old photos or video versions that you have already copied to your computer, so you can import your pictures and videos in a single step.
