Windows Vista does not recognize my camera when plugged into USB port

I recently had a problem with updates do not install it on my laptop Gateway 6840 running Vista. Community Microsoft guided me through a process that solved the problem and it worked fine. However, later, I tried to plug my Fujifilm AX560 into a USB port and the computer is no longer recognized. Ports recognize my memory sticks though very slowly. I tried a lot of previous solutions on Microsoft Community, but nothing has worked. Appreciate any help.  Thank you.

Problem solved! I used sugestion of Shekhar S to use Microsoft Fix It only the second I had my camera is plugged in and turned on. Thanks Shekhar S and thank you Microsoft Community.

If no joy follow these steps:

You may need a powered hub. (all the USB ports on your computer are not powered, often only 2)

    Try these:

    Make a Restore Point

Control Panel - Device Manager - click in the empty area - VIEW - show hidden devices

Here, your devices are the MP3 player.

Now look everywhere EXCEPT the USB controllers for your devices (cannot be found) and if you find
It RIGHT CLICK and UNINSTALL all.

now go to the USB and UNINSTALL ALL controllers in the category, but the category itself.

    APPLY/OK

    RESET

  • Windows Vista does not recognize my DVD player. It is a Pioneer DVD - RW DVR - 110 d ATA Device.

I looked at the information system and noted that there is a device error.  After checking for a solution online, this is the message I got:

Windows was able to successfully install device driver software, but the driver has encountered a problem when he tried to run. The problem code is 39.

    Hello

    Try this - Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double-click on the device - driver tab - click
Update the drivers (this will probably do nothing) - then RIGHT click the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
This will refresh the default driver stack. Even if the reader does not appear to continue below.

Then, work your way through these - don't forget the drive might be bad, could be a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

  • Windows Vista does not recognize my external hard drive, Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK

I have an HP Presario laptop running Windows Vista and it does not recognize my external hard drive, or my flash drives.

I have an external hard drive Eagle Consus AND-CS2PSU2-BK.  It worked fine on my desktop, which works on XP.  I plug it to my computer laptop and nothing.

When I plugged it in the first place, he says that he needed to download the drivers.  I clicked 'ok' to automatically download drivers and a few seconds later, he said that it successfully completed the driver download/install.

I look under the drives in my computer and he's not here.

I went to start, right click computer, left you click on Manage and double-clique then under storage disk management.  All I see are C drive and recovery disc (D).  No other drives displayed.

I exitted who and set up the Control Panel, double click on Device Manager.  He said in the other topic peripheral USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge.  I don't know whether or not it is my external hard drive.  It indicates the Type of device: Other Devices and under device status it says: "the drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28).  This operation requires an interactive window station.  To reinstall the drivers for this device, click on reinstall the driver. »

He asks if I want to reinstall the drivers, so I clicked that.  He couldn't find them / install them.

Still, I don't know if USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge is still linked to my external hard drive.

Help, please.  The same thing happens when I try to plug a flash/USB.

    Try this:

In the right click 'USB to ATA/ATAPI bridge' Device Manager under the other devices section, click unsintall or press the delete key. Reset with the connected hard drive it must be reinstalled, but under the USB controllers. Make sure the device works on the other computer cable can also go to bad.b

  • Windows Vista does not recognize the removable storage device

    ISSUE INITIAL 2010-03-03)
    Here's the scenario:
    1. Insert the card compact flash.
2 computer recognizes the removable storage (that is, it is assigned a drive letter and appears in disk management).
    3. use the icon remove the device safely in the taskbar to stop the machine to remove safely.
    4. remove the card compact flash.
    5. Insert the compact flash card.
    6. the computer does not recognize removable storage (that is, it is not assigned a drive letter and does not appear in disk management).

The only way I can get windows to recognize the drive is to restart my computer. How can I get windows recognize the drive without having to reboot?   This problem does not occur with USB flash drives.

Windows Vista Hame Premium, 64-bit, Service Pack 2 operating system

    UPDATE (04/03/2010):
I have more information, I hope this helps to reach a solution.

-J' repeated the steps above 1 to 3, with open Device Manager.  In step 3, in the Device Manager window, the icon for the question USB mass storage device becomes the exclamation point in yellow triangle icon.  Check its properties on the tab "General", in the "Device status" box, it says: "Windows cannot use this hardware device because it has been established for"safe removal", but it has not been removed from the computer. (Code 47)  IX this problem, disconnect the device from your computer and then reconnect it.  Click on 'Search for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and to see if there is a solution available. »
-J' then removed the card and rest of the error state.
-J' I re inserted the card, and rest of the error state.
-J' I then tried to update the driver by accessing the tab "driver", click on "Update driver", click on "Automatically search for an updated driver", and the result was "the best driver for your device is already installed."

I found the solution on this hp web page:

Basically, it says NOT to use the function "remove the device safely.  Instead, just right-click on the drive in the Solution Explorer, then choose "Eject".  Works perfectly.

    Some excerpts...
"Memory card readers are devices that use the icon remove the device safely in the notification area in the taskbar). Do not click stop in the window, remove the device safely. Doing so can disconnect the card memory reader for Windows. In this case, restart the computer to reset the memory card reader. »
"An alternative to the restart of the computer is to use the option optimize for fast moving functionality in Windows.

  • Windows Vista does not recognize Canon digital camera

I have trouble getting Windows Vista to recognize my camera Canon Digital Rebel XT.  I did the following:

-Update the driver from the Canon - camera website appears in the 'Computer' window as an external hard drive
-Find the device in the Device Manager under imaging devices like Kiss_N_Rebel_XT EOS 350 d, click right, uninstalled, and turned off the camera.  Turned the camera back on and the drivers were would have been installed correctly.  The device still does not appear as a disk in the window 'computer '.

How can I access files on my camera?

    Thank you.

    Hello GDB8791,

Thank you for posting.  The only time where I can think about when a camera come in the 'Computer' window would be if it has a type of storage device that it contains.  For example, a flash drive or memory key/card.  Check if you have the storage card inserted in the camera.  You can also open the Photo Gallery and select Import to see if it will access the camera.

  • Vista does not recognize my camera even if I hear 'bong' when I plug?

I tried to download pictures from my Nikon D5000.  I plug it in, turn it on, hear the "bong" that windows knows I connected a new device and then nothing.  I try to download from my photo software but my camera is not listed as a device to transfer, I go to my computer and try to find the camera - not here.  I followed all of the directions, I saw on this site - I have uninstalled all the USB drivers and reinstalled ran Windows Update and installed all available updates, contacted Nikon but their software doesn't recognize it, reinstalled the driver of Nikon, but Windows says that it was already there.  The only thing I couldn't do was run the program Microsoft Fix It - I received a (non-specific) error just says there is an error and try again later.  ??  Is there anything else I can try?  I am running Windows Vista Home Basic Service Pack 1.  Thank you!

  • Windows Vista does not recognize external USB 260 GB HARD drive

I have a 260 GB Seagate external hard drive, a laptop Toshiba satellite and Windows Vista Basic.

The same Windows usually choose the hard drive when I plug it, it does not appear in Device Manager and in disk management, the only way I can get it to work is to uninstall all the USB root hub and then restart the computer, and then reinstall the USB root hub and plug my hard drive.

When windows finally recognizes him, the only way to find the driver must choose c:\ manually and there's the search for the computer.
Works for the time that I have the computer hard disk, but when I stopped it, next time I use the computer, I'm having exactly the same problem.

I tried to remove the hard drive safely and then close the computer and by him plugging back in after windows has loaded, I tired it connected from the computer and tried to close the computer with connected.

    None of these work.
    Can someone help me please?
